  It’s started 🤦‍♀️

  i already have a friend who is trying to tell me that my mental health is causing my disillusionment with the jehovah’s witnesses.

  funny that a mental health therapist has told me my mental health issues are caused by being a jehovah’s witness.

  i’m still not going back.

  Retirement

  the difference is now blatantly obvious, older ones who went against direction of the gb and planned for retirement have relatively more comfortable lives.. those who trusted and followed gb direction never got further education or training, pioneered or spent most of their lives knocking on doors for free, making just enough to get by in a part time job.. if you followed direction from the gb then you thought the end was just around the corner so no need to plan for retirement.. now these ones have indeed got old which they were given the impression they never would.

  they are a burden on others.

  the state has to pay for them in their old age.

  Left out to dry? Not true here. Jehovah provides. I mean, the worldly government provides. Those you speak of get a pension at 62 or 66 years of age. If it means they qualify as "low income" then the State also gives them free medical care, free food stamps/vouchers, subsidized low cost housing, and utility assistance. If you wisely saved to have a "comfortable" retirement, you have to pay for all of that out of your retirement income &/or any savings that you accumulated. And, as mentioned........ you also have to pay taxes to provide for those that did not plan for their own retirement.

  Of course, those JWs give all the credit to Jehovah. He provides for them, just as he does the birds.

  Nobody else understands

  if you once were fully pimi and truly believed jw doctrine to the core like i once did, when you come to the reality that it is not the truth at all it can be extremely devastating.. i think only other ex jws could ever understand.

  i wasted my entire life i thought the real life was yet to come to wasted the best years knocking on doors.

  now i’m so angry.. i can understand why so many top themselves when they realise it was all lies..

  I met a JW some years ago, not long after I left, 2 years or so, one I would describe as merely "hanging on", as he gave away himself, I asked him why he was still "in", he replied "Because I can't help thinking something is going to happen". ~ Phizzy

  I think this is quite common. Consider how many return to meetings after there is any serious concern in the news. Twin Towers 9/11 attack -- That "helped" many see that it was "time to return". Covid19-- same thing.

  Of course, according to the Annual Meeting, that is a good position to take. When things look like it's all going to hell, run back in and be saved -- just in the nick of time.

  What If The Tower Fell?

  perhaps the irs swooped in and claimed fraud and padlocked the headquarters and kingdom hall doors?

  or the gb took the money and ran to a nice non-extradition country to live out their years?

  the watchtower is falling now
  

  in 2012 the watchtower closed 20 branch offices around the world and
  have cut back vastly on the magazines rather than new ones every month they are only 4 times a year or so and
  on the carts these past few week they were giving out magazines printed in 2021 and 2020.and
  of course they have sold of 1,000s of kingdom halls off ~ PEPPERHEART

  I think Pepperheart has it right. Who of us would have believed we'd see all those cut backs in the past 10 year +/- ? (Pepper didn't mention the massive "layoffs" at Bethel)

  What more is there to cut? Selling off more Kingdom Halls will likely continue since in-house attendance numbers are quite dismal. I guess they could slow down on the building scale of the new NY video center (is that what it is?). Somehow I guess they are convinced that the video biz is going to be profitable for them?

  Still I can't believe they are as bad financially as some think is indicated by their constant begging. How do you sell off 3 BILLION$ on tax free real estate sales and be broke in just a few years? I think they just want to stockpile a large enough nestegg that the investments alone will sustain them forever.

  i had a day off today and needed to get some errands done in my local town.

  2 carts have allocated here but i never ever see anyone out, even on very nice days.

  70% of the congregation don’t work.

  We live in a major metro area but never see a JW Cart. I hear they are manned on 2-hour shifts nearby the most noteworthy area tourist attractions.

  Yes, it is indeed "devastating". A gut punch. When you wake up it's like learning your mate has been cheating on you for years, and telling lie after lie after lie.

  Anger! Yes, after the dust settled and I got over the shock of it all, I too was ANGRY! Angry that those bastards misled me (and my parents, grandparents, etc) for decades. And YES! at some level up there in NY somebody at or near "the top" knows this!!! I buy into the idea that many of the Top WT Dogs are "captives" too -- that they really really believe it all and can't see through the shit because their head is up their A$$. BUT, the writers who twisted quotes and told outright lies to give convincing arguments on the BS doctrines MUST KNOW. Plus, someone higher approved all this deceitfulness. (Can you say LIES?)

  And then I found myself angry at myself. I'd like to think I'm a pretty smart guy. You know -- like Yogi, smarter than the average bear. SO how did I buy into the whole BS scam of it all? I had householders warn me. (HA! what did they know!) I had friends question it all. (Let 'em die if they don't "get it"!) I HAD DOUBTS! Yeah, I had doubts years before I opened my eyes wide enough to see it all. I actually convinced myself that the 1995 generation change made sense. (OMG) I researched it deeply. Using WT publications, of course. (I have no idea why the text changed.)

  My wife and I are old. We can "start over" but we really don't have the time left to make "life-long friends" as most of our life has passed us by already. But thankfully our children got out. They saw TTATT even before we did. They didn't flaunt it or ridicule us. But by the time they were out of college (see there, I didn't go along with their higher education crap), and on their own, they were done with it. They had their own new network of friends. They aren't ex-JWS. They have moved on to Ex ex-JWs. Interestingly enough, they often discover one of their former JW friends is now also an ex-JW. I guess they are "millennials". WT has lost the majority of their generation.

  The greatest revenge is living a happy & successful life!

  The 'Tower has no Face

  just thinking about how the wt has evolved over the century of its existence.

  before the gb tricked knorr into making them the ones responsible for everything, the president at the time was very much the face of the society.

  after franz, it all became a bit nebulous as to who was in charge.. is the current situation more advantageous to the wt or less?.

  Some of the "vested people" that you refer to might remain, but quality people won't come in from the outside anymore.

  The others that will remain are the prominent ones in the limelight who suck it up. It's like crack cocaine to them when the R&F line up to kiss their ring ass.
