Very interesting reading.
It's very encouraging that so many of you have done so well in life and are having a rewarding career.
The greatest revenge is living a happy & successful life!
i am thinking that this could be an interesting topic.
most of us never had a chance to go to college, many of us were involved in various service industries like cleaning and such, and we have had some limitations placed on us.
so i thought it might be interested to see what has worked for people, what hasn't, what the progression has been, where people went wrong and where they got it right.

not just jw's, but countless others (evangelicals etc.
) are claiming that we're in the "last days.".
but........bible students/jw's have been spouting this fake message since the 19th century!!!!!!.
Remember that people need always to be engaged in something mysterious
And, for the disadvantaged people, there must be something that gives them HOPE for a better future, be that Heaven or a New World or Panda Petting Paradise or a handful of PowerBall tickets.
the last assembly i attended was over 10 years ago.
the monotone speakers, boring talks, uncomfortable seats, long prayers and nodding off after the lunch break did me in.
i survived the morning sessions, but the afternoon sessions were brutal.
We "attended" the last big district/regional convention in our area prior to covid. It was held at a large rented convention center in the nearby major city. I got a hotel room directly across the street as I was really concerned about my elderly mother who would also be attending though she was riding with friends from her congregation.
We skipped the morning session and went over for the intermission. By then I was refusing to ever wear a tie again and had a beard (I'd be right in style now), so the attendants at the main entrance saw me as suspicious until a young guy (now an elder) from our former congregation saw us and greeted us with a very warm hello. Very genuine young guy who grew up with our kids. His dad was a real shaker and mover so his greeting meant we were OK and didn't have to be followed all day.
We enjoyed meeting old friends as we walked around prior to the start up of the afternoon session, but when the music started we headed back to the hotel and stopped and had lunch at a nice cafe.
Yeah. We could endure that again.

I just recall that they were long and boring. The best thing you (a brother) could hope for was to get an "assignment" that required you to be "working" during the sessions. Auditing was good, or being an attendant in the hallways telling others to find their seat. Even better was being a "big shot" in the Chairman's Office or Administration where you got to rub shoulders with all the Bigwigs from Bethel.
It does seem like many former JWs still have that problem with "long & boring" when they make their YouTube videos. I guess it just stays with a person.

We had just finished reading "Crisis of Conscious" and the threads about Menlo Park on this site. It became our last Convention.
Nope, no more Conventions!

mark jones writes:.
if they were spied upon and it was reported to the elders they’d be “invited” to a judicial committee whereupon they’d be cross examined in a locked backroom by three men acting as judge and jury to decide if they are guilty.. .
if the elders decide that they are guilty, they’ll then decide if the person is sorry.
"when will this hope be fulfilled?
the bible foretold events that would signal that god’s kingdom is about to begin its rule over the earth.
present world conditions match what the bible foretold.
These are daggers into the heart of hardliners. It gives nowhere to turn moment to defend the indefensible.

Why do they call them The Last Days?
Because they last and they last and they last and . . . . . . .
sea breeze: @nicolau,i stated my case rather succiently, which you failed to address.
if you have a better solution to the problem of evil than what jesus offers, then why don't you present that in a new topic?.
pathetic diversion.
