Really sorry to hear about your kitty companion No doubt she was special to you both. It's painful to lose a loved one - cry as much as you need to and think of the happy life she lived having such loving owners: not all cats are so lucky.

Worldly people don't suck
by streets76 inmy wife (never a jw) is ill and undergoing a series of treatments that will last for many months.
it's a physical, emotional, and financial drain on both of us.. my wife has run her own business for many years and has an extensive client list that includes some very well-to-do folks.
one of those clients called her one day and offered to pay all of her medical expenses.

So true that 'worldly' people don't suck. They are not judgemental like the Witnesses nor do they find it difficult to help out in times of need. JWs usually have some excuse - too much to do in FS, meetings etc. Truly there is no real love. Very few in my former congs showed the love that the Org. likes to boast so much about in the mags.
If it is 'by the love they have among themselves Jesus disciples identify themselves,' then the JWs are NOT his people!

It's not about if she were a JW or not, it's that religion, no matter what religion, can be harmful. This is especially true for those with mental and emotional issues - religion can actually exacerbate innate problems.

by Pams girl inhi, im paula from wales, uk.
ive been studying for 6 years with jws.
they came at a vulnerable time, my best friend died in a car accident when she was 6 monthes pregnant, i was drinking heavily, no work due to agoraphobia, meddling with the ouija board etc....i felt they helped me, cured me if you like.

Hi Paula, and welcome. I too am sort of new here as a 'poster' but I have been reading and watching this site for a couple of years. Keep on visiting and reading and you'll find the help to build the courage you need to sever ties with the JWs - physically and mentally.
Mistakes you've made in the past because of your association with the JWs can evoke bitter regret and pain but the good thing is that you've woken up and can freely walk away. For some time as I tried to exit I'd feel really bad, especially because I was well known by other JWs in our small community. Speculation gave rise to gossip and my self esteem went way low because I knew they were thinking and saying the worst things - including those I considered good friends. But then I realized that their opinion doesn't really count. What they think and how they treated me didn't determine who I was, the person that I am.
It may not be easy to turn them away but in the moment you have to, steel yourself, think of your dear Mom, the beautiful cross from your hubby, the look on your boy's face when you told him Daddy wouldn't be on the new earth, and FIRMLY send them packing. You gave up too much already to tip toe around the JWs!
At any rate, know that the folks here will be cheering you on as you move forward and away from this damaging religion!
CONGRATULATIONS on waking up and reaching out for true freedom and happiness! That's truly cause for celebration!

A baptism question for Morbidzbaby (and the rest of ya'll).....
by Mr. Falcon ini read morbidzbaby's comment on the post http://www2.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/206838/1/a-question-to-the-ex-jws were she said that she got baptized "hoping that it would sort everything out".
this got me thinking about the whole jw ritual of baptism and dedication.
i look back and recall that i never privately "dedicated" myself to anything or anyone before taking the "dip".. the wt teaching is that a person should privately dedicate (via prayer) themselves to jehovah before publically going through the ritual.

I did pray and dedicate my life to Jehovah but there was no warm feeling that a loving god was listening. I thought that by going through with it and being baptised I'd then feel his love and direction. When it didn't happen I thought something was wrong with me. But I persevered and tried to be the best JW I could be.
Nothing worked or helped.
Then I woke up and realized that there is no Jehovah. That realization and the sense of relief and freedom it brings has changed my outlook and I am DEFINITELY a happier, more hopeful person.

Wow! Evidence of how very controlling the Society is. Scary! Even moreso to think that had I read this before waking up to the real truth I'd probably have seen nothing 'wrong' with it!

Do You Feel Somewhat Liberated When You Talk About Your JW Past?
by minimus ini do.. when i tell people that i was a witness, nobody can believe it!
i enjoy telling them why i left the religion, the harm they cause, and the benefits of being out of it.. do you express yourself in this way too or is it only me?.
-

Talking about it is liberating - and therapeutic however I 'talk' mostly via my anonymous blog since I've faded and don't want to relive the trauma of being hunted down by over zealous elders.

Nevermind time lost slaving for the GB.... what about priceless moments that could have been enjoyed with unbelieving family members, like b'days and other family occasions? We've lost out on so much! Wah
