It is pronounced inicies, not indexes. I have heard this mistake on financial programs. When someone says Jehovah Witness instead of Jehovah's Witness. Even worse is referring to them as "the Jehovahs".

Some twisted psychopath kidnapped my brick!!!
by Elsewhere insadly i must report that shortly after my bricks were delivered to the construction site of my new house, some sick twisted psychopath went and kidnapped a brick for ransom!
granted, i must admit that there are some very suspicious circumstances surrounding the alleged "kidnapping".
i know that particular brick and he has always been a troublemaker and prone to violence.

Someone mentioned further research. I know of only two other avenues. Some day I want to get to my home town and find out if there are any court transcripts related to the divorce. I did not think of that when I got the divorce papers. Another place to look is in news paper records. My mother told me that there was an article in the local paper about Alfred, and Rutherford is mentioned in it. I looked through index records in the local library, but could not find it. It may have been a small enough article that it did not get put in the index. I plan to call the paper to see if they have computerized records with a data base that goes back that far.

Loolaia, Berta was born in Pitt County, North Carolina, outside of Greenville. Her brother Frank was married in Edgecombe County in 1915. Berta probably lived with him and his wife. Frank's first son was born in Pitt County, so the family may have moved back there before 1920 ......................................................................................... I have a copy of the paperwork for Alfred's filing for divorce and the granting of the divorce. In in the filing paper it states that Berta left home to go to Bethel in June of 1938. Alfred did not file for nearly a year and a half after that, in November of 1939. In this docuement it states that he "made numerous efforts for a reconciliation. The divorce was granted in March of 1940. The legal reason was "guilty of gross neglect of duty."

Cyberguy, no we do not have copies of the film. In fact, I did not know about the film and Berta's confession to the elders until this subject came up on the other thread. Abaddon, it seems to me that for an unatached sister to wear such items would be frowned upon. Isn't it true that elders can question a sister about wearing thongs these days, and thereby questioning her sexual motives. Even without this consideration, the atire that Berta wore was out of character for an annointed pioneer sister. These gifts from Berta to her sister, were, in fact, items that Berta had worn.

As far as verbal reports, you could say that all of it is heresay, including what I said, what my two cousins said, what my mother said, amd what my wife said. She was there with two of my aunts and my mother when the subject of panties and bra came up. When my wife and mother left, it was clear to my wife that my mother was very agitated that this subject was brought up in front of my wife, a person who was not a blood relative. Years later, when my mother was very sick, my wife spent considerable time with her. It was during this time that the subject of Berta came up, and my mother said that Berta said that Rutherford "was like a husband to me in every way." I don't know what Berta said to her sisters, since they never shared anything with me about Berta.

VM, I was in touch with a man about two years ago, who was doing research for a book on Rutherford. He went to Rutherford's birthplace and found out some very interesting things about Rutherford when he was a young man, before he became a Bible Student. I can't remember the man's name, nor do I know the progress he is making on his book.

Interesting VM, the quote is at odds with what brought out in the Olin Moyle trial transcripts. Olin portrayed Rutherford as an overbearing, abusive autocrate. While Rutherford's minians denied the charges, Moyle won the law suit nonethless.
