Yes, I knew one. Her and her husband would show up the service meeting with alchohol on their breath.

Do you know of any "pioneer sisters" that were alcoholics or who drank?
by booker-t inwe are always hearing about jw men that drank too much and had drinking problems.
i remember one of the ministerial servants in my old hall was seen at the liquor store buying 2 hugh vodka bottles.
the next week he was "publicly reproved" and stripped of his bookstudy, deleted as a pioneer, and his request to go where the need was great was revoked.

Would you contribute to expose the Watchtower?
by nicolaou injost tossing an idea about.
would anyone be willing to make regular contributions to an 'exposure fund'?.
it wouldn't be a 'fighting fund', we couldn't hope to compete against watchtower finances or its legal department in that way.

NO, I would not.
If you want to contribute, send your money to Simon, who needs the money to support this forum. You could split it in half and send a buck fifty to Ray Franz, who lives in very humble circumstances.
Your idea offense me.
There are many people who have spent more that three bucks a months to fight the religion. Besides, Simon and and Ray Franz, I could mention AlanF, Norman, Kent, Farkel, and many others who have poured their heart and soul into this effort. -

I am scared of my future marriage
by jwbot ini am watching oprah (right now actually) and the topic hits close to home.
good timing actually, because yesterday i was thinking of talking with my fiance, mike about this very thing.
you see, mike really loves kids, and we plan to have them eventually, its a very important part in our relationship (to him, mostly).

jwbot,
Your concerns just don't compute for me. My wife and I have been married for over 40 years. We have three adult children. I love my wife and my three children just as much - all the same.
Our three children were born two years apart and required a lot of care giving on my wife's part. There were times during those early years, that she did not have much time for me, but I understood that. I was not jealous over the time she spent on them. I hope that both you and your future husband understand this fact about very young children. -

What does Russell, Masons and Satan have in common?
by mnb77 infreemasons (aka: masons) are under the control of satan and russell was there with them...
now we come to russell's part.
russell was a freemason.

This subject has been brought up several times and it is just boring. Russell was never a Mason, although his father was. To prove this go to the Mason's geneological records in Pittsburg, PA.
Also, you claim that Russell was of Satan. I will not look at your web sites, because the idea is just perpostorous.
If I claimed that you were of Satan, would that make it true?
You are an idiot. -

The Great Crowd
by JAVA inwhen i see how many hits various topics receive compared to the number of posts, it?s obvious to me how many benefit from this forum.
i know most of us skip around from topic to topic before posting, but i think there is a large number of lurkers that read but are not registered members.
sometimes it?s easy for me to forget about, dare i say, the great crowd.

JAVA,
Yes, I remember those days very well. It seems like yesterday. I remember that we met at the local restaurant on Sunday, after you got off work, and we drank coffee for several hours, and we talked for a long time. As you know, we did that for many Sundays.
I also remember when you got a divorce and you fell in love with another woman. I was there at your wedding at the Unitarian Church of Far Hills Av.
I remember going to a xJw conference in Orlando. I told Ros, about our experiences, and she got tears in her eyes.
Just relating this is making me emotional, so I have sign off now. -

Daniel's Prophecy, 605 BCE or 624 BCE?
by Little Bo Peep inhello all, i've been reading your site for a couple of years now, and have found, for the most part, it to be very helpful.
i must say, at first i was very "scared" at what i might find, but contrary to what i grew up learning, there is a "wealth" of information outside of the watchtower organization.
i haven't attended meetings for about two years now, and like many i've read about, have spent many hours researching, telling myself "i'm not wrong for searching", and doing more research.

Hey Scholar,
I would like you to look at my analysis of the writing on the wall, and what in means, if anything. You can find this under the subject of: 1914 - who is in charge. -

JAVA,
I want to thank for your efforts to bring down this religion.
I have a friend at Wright State (I think you know where that is.) He said to me one day, "how can we destroy this religion?' I said, don't worry about it, lots of people are getting the job done. -

I am up because I am retired and can stay up as long as I want, and then sleep as long as I want. Sometimes I sleep for 12 or more hours. Some days, I don't sleep at all, and I love it.

who remembers their first day at school
by tijkmo ini remember mine...it was in the days when all pupils gathered daily for a service to start the day even though it was not a religious school...anyway my sister had started the same school the previous year and my parents had informed the school that she would not be attending the daily service..not a problem..except for some reason they assumed that because i was the same surname the school would make the connection that i wasnt to go into service...but they didnt and so i found myself right at the front of the hall on my first day not even 5 years old in my new blazer and short trousers with all the other pupils behind me knowing i shouldnt be there..so i started crying..and first my teacher came to see what was wrong but quickly got frustrated because i couldnt explain myself..so she smacked me for crying and kept smacking me to get me to stop crying and then got the headmistress to smack me to get me to stop crying until eventually time was up and they had to cancel the service.....result...still loved school though...tijkmo

I remember it very well. We lived in the country, and the small school looked vast to me. I also remember that I could not say the pledge of alliagance. The teacher explained that to the other children, and they never gave me any hassle over the issue.
Now, in field service it was another matter. I was told to get off the porch or they would get their gun. This happened on several occasions. One person spit in wife's face for showing up at their door. -

Guys,
Here are couple subtle clues.
1. When your wife wants you to sleep in the car, instead of the bedroom.
2. When you come home from work and she has gun pointed at you.
3. When she asks you if you would rather have mustard on that hot dog or rat poison.
4. When you come home and she and all of the furniture is gone.
5. When she wants to go on a two week vacation to a nice vacation spot by herself.
6. When she takes out a million dollar life insurance policy on your life, and uses rat poison instead of mustard on your hot dog.
7. Last but not least, when she goes back to the Kingdom Hall, just to royally piss you off.
