I want to comment on some of your comments.

RHW - "Jehovah and Jesus have become more personal as a result."

I think that is what it should be all about. You know, I used to dislike the baptist saying "have you found Jesus as your personal Savior?" I still do because I am not too thrilled about their "Organization" either, but that basic idea is not a bad one.

Now and then I read parts of the Bible, and when I do I read one book, not one passage. After doing this, I think the message of the Gospel, the first four books of the New Testement, were very simple: LOVE AND MERCY.

Your talk about the "ID of the true christian." and how well it was received. I don't know what posessed me, but when I was 18, I gave a similiar hour talk. Only one compplimented me. He was one that others thought as somewhat dim witted, but he was not. He had a better mind and heart than his more verbally adept brothers did. He said something like "We hear so much about the end of the world. It was nice to hear something positive."

i've really enjoyed the conversations about music, poetry, movies, books and short storys.

i thought it would be interesting to read about little known news from around the world, so i'll start with some from the tiny dot where i live on this ball of mud we call earth.. i just read in the paper this morning that the people of port clinton, ohio are celebrating new years by dropping a 500 pound fiberglass walleye fish into lake erie.

we people here in ohio have a certain panache.. the tornado in xenia, ohio this summer missed my daughter's house by a block and a half.

What happened to you anyway???? No news?? AW, come on now, you're just slacken off.

Now for the news...The suburb here of Beavercreak actualy has a highschool and the lady's basketball team is ranked number one in the state and number 16 in the nation. Now that's the good news. The bad news is on TV today they referred to them as the "lady beavers". Now, that will cause people to giggle for one thing and for another, it's a redundancy.

Found out something else - found a site where you can read almost every newspaper. Looked at Columbia and Providence papers and I was going to post stuff I found that would spook you out, but that ain't right. Actualy, the reason I didn't do it was I was too damn lazy.

I liked your comparison to a sales meetings. It was right on the money!

Did you know that years ago they actualy had a sales chart right next to the platform? It showed all their numbers for the past year for all to see at every meeting.

I'm glad we could help. You know, regarding that man's work you read, there was another theme in there. He showed many people in that congregation the results of his research and they just shrugged it off. They did not want to deal with the words from their own books in their own library. I think that aspect of his story also confirms what we were saying.

I understand your frustration and desire to get them to see their own problems. As I said before, I have had that very same frustration with my own sister. Unfortunately. their's no chance for change until they are ready for change.

When we faded way, my cousins asked me about being inactive. I told them that I didn't want discuss my thoughts, because I didn't to stumble them. They left it alone, which bought me a few more years of being able to visit with them.

You know, they taught us the art being tactful, i.e., be evasive and lie if you have to. Use that skill to your advantage.

Thinker, I don't want you to think we are ganging up on you, but I have to agree with the other's comment. I would love to get my sister out, but I know there is no way. My wife and I have talked about it a lot, and our conclusions is that if she ever gets serious doubts she will approach us, because she knows she can so with no negative repurrcusions. I can sense that if I tryed to persuade her, she would stop talking to me. I can give you reasons for my sensing this, but that's a long story.

Anyway, it's good to be able to come to a place like this to talk things over, I think.

I like everything that was said on this page. I personally find it boring, tedious, and a pointless waste of time to go into lengthy research and detailed debate on fine points of scripture. Sometimes, I wish people would just tell me what they believe in a sentence or two and not give me a huge explaination, because unless I happen to agree it, their scholarship is not going to affect me. No matter how clear to me is my thinking it is not going to change their's, and furthermore it really doesn't affect my life or theirs except for taking up time for more useful activities, like watching stand up comedy.

Hey Ianao,

Did you rear about the two guys in the woods who came across a bear? One guy asked the other what he was gonna do. He said he was gonna run. The other guy said, "you can't out run that bear." The other guy answered back, "I don't have to, all I gotta do is out run you." You sound like the guy whose going to come in second place to the mean old bear. Don't worry the bear ain't gonna eat you up.

Works - Running. Faith - The bear is nice.
