Wow, Great Job - I wish I was there :) So you mean to tell me that Bill B. was touring in Bethel. I thought his picture hung prominently on the walls of Bethel as one of Bethel's 10 top Evildoers :).

Reminds me of someone touring an outdated insane asylum - "This is where we produced the books (pigskin) to make our members do anything we say, and over here is where we interrogated members for independent thinking."

Seriously though, I didn't know Pat G. died, she was truly a brave women. I'll never forget that day she made that announcement about Jaracz. Is there anyone else alive that can prove those allegations?

Members of the BORG love that Semoniem guy, especially the cult members from his Hall. But how could he say he didn't know that sister, he knows her well, he'll never forget her and her family. Just like a BORG member to flat out lie, and think it's Ok.

or even are still there at the hall attending due to family.. .

do you think that when you were at your 'strongest as a believer' that anyone would have guessed how you feel about the wts now?.

Good Question. Yeah, they were all surprise. I guess the only sign was when I stepped aside as an elder, but still nobody would have ever guess I would have joined the army.

But of course they reasoned these this is definitely the last days, and that more people will fall away from the BORG as we get closer to the end.

what would you say or do?

Honestly, I'm not trying to be the bigger person. IF the BORG changed their rules I still would avoid my family. I'm not at that level of forgiving and forgetting - maybe when I'm in my 60's. Too much pain and disrespect for me to turnover.

When You Were A Witness---Were You Ever On A Spiritual "High"?

i knew soooo many jws that would get pumped up because of an assembly or elder's or circuit overseer's talk.

after hearing the reasons to pioneer, for example, some would wait in a line to get their applications from the service overseer.

some would go to their first district convention, see the "love" and want to get baptized.......were you one of those persons that ever found yourself "on a spiritual high"??

Yes, I was on spiritual highs when I was in Field Service with this wheelchair bound guy - at the time we were best friends. We talked about everything under the sun, it was great. I had so much fun in Field Service with him that I didn't think it was right to report the time :) Needless to say, when I left he warned everybody about speak with me. And of course the spiritual high had nothing to do w/ J-hova but with the company and conversation. Oh well, it was good while it lasted.

Which men / lads here cry when listening to music / watching films?

you know how some of us guys have to put on a bit of an act sometimes, we have to set our faces into our coping scowl, but underneath, we're too well aware of just how soft we are?

well.. what music to the big guys here only, not you wimpy bunch, brings a tear to your eye or which films is it that you need to keep a box of tissues handy by you to wipe away the dampness in your eye?.

for celtic it's a track by dido - white flag and also black eyed peas - where is the love?

I get choked up every time I go to a funeral and hear gospel music played on a organ. It's the only time something ever touched my soul.

Funny how being in the BORG and you were taught that Gospel music is demonic. Well I guess anything that stirred the soul in comparison to the dry kingdom melodies was evil.

Oh, and Mamma Morta by Maria Callas on the Philadelphia soundtrack - gets me every time

"I Used to Have a Family..."

i was just reading a moving post by flower, that inspired this thread.

but i admit i am lonely for the comfort that a group of people called 'family' brings.

"A Beautiful Mind"

just watched that movie again tonight...with a different perspective.. how much john nash's life is an analogy of our lives as jws!

the "real" things that weren't real, the almost "physical" delusionary convictions, and the post-"schizophrenic" struggles we've had?.

as john nash said in his nobel prize acceptance speech (according to the movie): "i've gone from the physical, to the metaphysical, to the delusional, and back to the physical...and to the ultimate realization that love is the only reason.".

That is a great movie (rare these days). It makes me wonder - who really are the sane people. Is it the world calling people insane or is it the insane being oblivious to the insanity of the world. The movie also helped me to think about the price of genius.

I couldn't help but remember when I was in the cult and I thought people with mental illness were all demonized. I remember going on a shepherding (hounding) call on a sister who claim to be hearing voices. We immediately thought something unclean was in her house - asking her about the origins of everything in her house. Finally we discovered that it was a desk from a friend (worldly) that was causing the problem. After disregarding the desk we thought we got rid of her problems, Only to be awaked later that week in the middle of the night by an elder who told me that the sister had to be admitted to a mental hospital. We were dumbfounded and couldn't understand what was causing her mental illness. In retrospect that event made me feel nothing like three wise men, but more like the 'three stooges' or 'three blind mice.'

Another movie that reminded me of the BORG was 'Pleasantville.' Living in a world of Black & White versus living in Color. Once you live in Color you could never go back to living in Black & White :)
