  I THINK IT'S RIDICULOUS !!!!!!!!!!!

  1) i think it's ridiculous to tell anyone when and how to use something they paid for ( computers and internet service ).

  2) i think it's ridiculous to tell married couples how to act in the bedroom.

  3) i think it's ridiculous to tell people what kinda cars they should buy ( 4 door for fieldservice ).

  I think that it's ridiculous that when Indian Jones and the Last Crusade came out and everyone in the kingdom hall was talking about how it was the best movie ever and that Indie said the name "Jehovah" in it, and your daughter who is 12 - two weeks from being 13, cannot watch the movie with the rest of the family cause its rated PG - 13!!!! Your daughter has to sit in her room and read for two hours while the family enjoys the movie in the living room.

  wow - maybe I took this to personally? hahaha! Its STILL ridiculous !

  What Doctrines or JW Views Did You Not Find Too Believable?

  the thought that a loving creator would violently destroy anyone not belonging to the jehovah's witness religion including billions of babies seemed just not right.. the fact that you could recieve some "acceptable" blood components but could not donate those same lifesaving yourself seemed strange.

  you could recieve a blood fraction but you couldn't give it.. any others you can think of?

  As a kid, I was very curious about the dinosaurs. Why did Jehovah create them and then destroy them? Were they an experiement to Jehovah? What was their purpose? Did Jehovah kill them off, cause he got the great idea to make man and then the dinosaurs were to dangerous?

  My dad, the elder, told me that God made them to be prehistoric "lawn mowers" - they maintained the vegitation before man came along and became the gardener. My dad was a gardener BTW.

  I think back now and I think my dads answer was pretty clever. He probably did not even know himself and just made it up on the fly.

  Do You Feel Somewhat Liberated When You Talk About Your JW Past?

  i do.. when i tell people that i was a witness, nobody can believe it!

  i enjoy telling them why i left the religion, the harm they cause, and the benefits of being out of it.. do you express yourself in this way too or is it only me?.

  I do not mind telling people that was born into a cult - the JW's. It surprisingly comes up often.

  People are often intrigued and start asking questions about the beliefs, and I am happy to explain their hypocrisy. Giving my own sort of "witness".

  Assembly/Convention Rules

  just been reading the resurrected topic "remember when assemblies were fun".. bought back some good memories particularly regarding the 'holiday camps'.. i was going to add this but decided it warranted it's own topic.. the 'good times' have been replaced by incessant rules.

  Ok ok, so maybe this was never a formal annoucement, but one I got busted for while attendants were roaming the parking lot.

  Hoarders - cause its so not me and I think its fascinating that people do that ! I am yelling at the TV screen " Throw it away, it's garbage!" and I laugh and I sigh, .....I love that show.

  Disassociation Letter

  have any of you who formally diassociated yourself from jehovah's witness by letter sent anything in writing to the entire congregation?

  would it be considered bad form to send a letter to friends in the congregation regarding your decision and the reasons for it, before/after/simultaneously you send a letter to the boe?.

  i think i would feel compelled to, out of acknowledgement that most of them would not speak to me after "the big announcement.

  I am very ashamed to admit that a long time ago, I got a letter from a very dear friend, (I was in her wedding) that she was being DF'd and I bawled. I almost acting as if she had died. Her letter did not explain why, only that she loved me and hoped that we would have the chance to talk again.

  I never wrote her back. She did adventually get reinstated, married and elder and from what I hear is doing well.

  My point is to offer the perspective of someone who was "in" and got a letter. At the time I was crushed and cried about it. I am now embarrassed to admit that since I was so mind controled I believed they were as good as dead to me. So sad.

  Share Your Tales of Annoying Car Group Advice

  ohhhh.... do i ever have loads of these stories!

  i pioneered in the mid-90's (mostly out of guilt and fear and hope to pacify my parents before dropping the "i wanna go to college" bombshell on them, but i digress...) and i gotta tell ya, it was the most frustrating 2 years of my life!

  at that time, there were over 20 of us as many my age recently graduated high school to "join the ranks" (as the co at the time said).

  I remember on some really hot summer Saturdays beingout in service with a huge family, in their huge van with like 8 people in it and I felt like I am suffocating cause the windows in the van would barley crack open. The pioneer mom of the family would tell me to "imagine" I was cool and then I would feel better.

  I was probably 11 or 12 at the most when a wife of an elder went to my mom after service and told my mom she did not like how I was so "flirty" with her husband. I was so crushed and embarrassed when my mom told me to not be so "touchy" - I felt I had the plague.

  Welcome !

  JW's are all about appearences !I grew up in an elder family and we were always out in service, always early to the meetings, always had to have three answers ready for the Watchtower study and were on stage as toddlers.

  The reality was my parents barley talked, I had raging anxiety and thankfully my mom did not work, cause being a JW mom is two jobs in one !

  You will enjoy this board - there are so many good stories to share. Good for you for getting out !
