Expatbrit has made some excelent points..alot to think about.
It really can come down to your point of view.
Corporations can be viewed as a mechanism, a sort of generic inhuman machine like term.
I view corporations as a group of people, because ultimately that is what a corporation is, a body, with different appendages that work for the purpose of profit. Why do people work together to achieve profit as a group? So that the individuals of that corporation can sustain and benefit and secure their personal survival and enrich their life and the lives of people they love. (.yes cororations are about love!)
This includes everyone from the maintnence worker to the CEO.
So you see corporations, as I view it, aren't as mechanical as they are human.
The corporate mechanism has created much of the wealth we all enjoy. There is no such thing as "the little people".
I don't view it that way...it is the creative mind, those that create, those that build, those that fix, those that maintain, that have created the wealth that we all enjoy.
It is the folks that sweat it out everyday that make this world turn, not a bunch a people sitting in a board room.
What happens if all the corporate officers in this world stay home for a week.what happens to the economy?
What happens to the economy when factory workers, engineers, draftsman, welders, electricians, garbage collectors and police stay home for a week?

What the real problem is, is the unfettered and poorly controlled greed of corporates at the expense of the little people.
Simon,
Dead on, this fact has been showcased in the last few years by companies like Enron, Worldcom, Tyco,etc....it is truly sickening.

when i was a jwi just hated going out in service on christmas..i thought it was rude.
now that i have faded away i realize this even more so.. remember how we were encouraged to go out on christmas?
the sermon.er..presentation began.."many folks around the world today are thinking and reflecting on jesus and his birth....".

How phony.
We were invading peoples privacy on the one family day, the most sacred important religious holiday that many have. How arrogant, self righteous, and inconsiderate.
I just know they will show up here today just to see if I have a tree. Next year I'm putting lights up outside..maybe they will quit coming then.
How did you feel about service on Christmas?

breaking news!
libya has voluntarily decided to dismantle their wmd program!
i guess the iraq war and the subsequent capture of saddam is having a ripple effect!
It is nice to hear some good news for a change. Lybia..whodathought.

are we beginning to see that the argument of wether or not we should have gone to war is starting to get a little circular.. there are points to be made on both sides.
in my mind it comes down to wether or not you think that the us should be the policeman for the rest of the world.. i personally still don't think we needed to go to war, even though we did capture saddam, i know, i know, hard to believe.. just think, if i had my way, saddam would still be in power!!!!
is a wmd incarnate.
There is a lot of information out there that support both sides of the argument...and I would venture to say 99.9% of what you read is biased toward what the writer of that information wants you to believe. My point? Take what you need from the information, never trust anything or anyone 100% and make your OWN judgements ....lol if the dubs taught me nothing, they taught me that! BTW LC this paragraph is not directed toward you
Xena,
I basicly agree.
An an example.....Remember Yougoslavia....Bosnia..Milosevic? People on the "right", perhaps rightfully so, complain that virtually no one on the "left" complained about the US bombing the hell out of that country. Why? The "right" complains that it was because Clinton was president and now they are against the action in Iraq, because Bush is president.
But back then, there were people on the far "right" who complained about us being over there. Why? Because Clinton was president.
These situations are not exactly the same but they are comparable on many levels. My point: alot comes down to politics and ideologies ..and that is a shame.
I guess we have alot of bullshit to sift through.
BTW I took no offense to anything you said. I get a kick out of it actually.

when you think of how much talent and creativity young people have, isn't it a shame that the watchtower bible & tract society has done absolutely nothing for the development of young people?.
they can print a'young people ask' article on the use of cellphones, they can produce a video on how to make friends, and they can release a glossy tract about what will youths do with their life, yet they do nothing to promote 'youth' in the organisation.. generation after generation of young people are subjected to 5 boring meetings a week, an endless supply of doors to knock on and an endless amount of literature to read, study and mediatate on.. i'm not sugessting for one moment that all jw youths/young adults are miserable and bored in the organization.
some seem to have gone through life with ready made friends in their congregation, no bullying at school, steady jobs and some sort of 'career' in the organization, whether it be pioneering or bethel service.. but there is a saying that ignorance is bliss and this is true of the religion a lot of us were raised in.. how may churches do you know have services for young people?
I coulda been a contenduh

North Korea is a little bit tougher though aren't they....not so easy.
Let me ask Yeru, being in the military he probably has a better grasp on that one than I do.
agreed. You should check with Yeru
I'm glad we have Saddam NOW.
And we are all happy that you are happy.
Ouch
More innocent victims, but hey they aren't American so who really cares, right?
I care please don't insinuate that I don't....more than you know
Why must we be consistant?
It's about credibillity and honesty and justice. Someone else brought up pragmatism...pragmatism in the US is is when it benefits the US. And thats fine, but please dont crow about bringing freedom and security to the Iraqi people because that is just naive ...it's about what this administration views as their interest. My opinion.
Time will tell my friends.... I hope Iraq ends up with a world class democracy and I hope the troops our home soon we will see.
Oh ..to whom it may concern I drive a compact car and I never even pay attention to the price of gas let alone bitch about it..
