I have been very impressed with many on this board. The inteligence, personalities, and variety of this place keep me coming back. I don't have the patience to read every post, but as I scan I find myself laughing, thinking, remembering, relating, crying, and all that. Plmkrzy, I think you are plain cool. And Dung, I too always envisioned you as a woman .... and that's all I'm gonna say about that. Anyway, I want to thank, EVERYONE who posts on this board it's been enlightening and entertaining.

Tonites bookstudy
by Leander init took everything i had to stay seated thru the bookstudy tonite, i felt like getting up and leaving.
the fact that i'm the designated reader did'nt make matters any better either.
i'm not sure how many people on the forum have the isaiah's prophecy book but if you do have a copy check out chapter 21.. chapter 21 in paragraphs 3 talks about how enemies of the israelites (pharoah, nebuchadnezzar)were compelled to acknowledge that jehovah was with his people.

Hypocricy of paid holidays...
by KistByQpid inother than my mom, the only other jw i've ever had any real life experience with was a co-worker.
actually, i was her supervisor and there is one thing that never made sense to me.
she would aggressively attempted to "witness" to everyone (my supervisor had to eventually tell her to cool it) well, everyone pretty much respected her beliefs and knew better than to invite her to any birthday celebrations, etc.

My view was always : The company was closing down for the day and paying everyone, why should I be given a day off work w/o pay because they wanted to celebrate a holiday. I mean I do see your point, but do Jews insist on working on Christmas? Do they reject their holiday pay for a holiday they don't believe in? These days off are usually listed as benefits. These benefits are often spelled out prior to employment. For example: "2 sickdays, 10 paid holidays, 2 weeks vacation." In this context weather or not you believe in those holidays is irrelevent. They are part of the compensation package. I know I'll get some heat for that, but that is how I felt and still feel.

What kind of music do you listen to?
by Leander ini'm a music junkie, i like pretty much all types of music.
but in particular i would have to say jazz is my favorite, but not the watered down kenny g style of jazz.
i prefer the straight ahead, hard bop type of jazz.. lately i've been really getting into psychedelia rock.

John Mayer is really good. Glen Phillips rocks. I'm a bigtime Toad the wet sprocket fan. Semisonic, Live, Matthew Sweet, The Matthew Good Band, Dexter Freebisch, Goo Goo Dolls,, Dave Matthews, although I like his songs better than his voice, Pat McGee band, Ramones,Weezer, Jayhawks, and stuff. I also like Britney Spears -- I watch her videos ( with sound turned to 0 ) every chance I get! Oh and I HATE kidrock.

Why do Jehovah's Witnesses lie to recruits?
by jerome infirst let me say this.. i have constantly been hearing of the legendary honesty/intergity of the jehovah's witness for some time now.
i have also been informed that they are the happiest people on the entire earth.. my problem is this:.
when a jehovah's witness comes to your door and you actually decide to give them a few moments of your time they never give the whole story as to what you would be getting involved with when you join the watchtower.. case in point.

Nowhere, they did not state that the end would come in 1975, but they implied it strongly. How are we to take implications from GOD'S only channel on earth? Take a breath, now disconnect from the brain you share with 6.5 million others and think. This was at a minimum, VERY irresponsible, yet they blamed everyone but themselves for the "misunderstanding".

Yesterday's public talk.
by VioletAnai ini'd like to make a few points which i know i will be eaten alive for, but here goes...... is there really a devil?.
history of religion has always believed in the devil, but has portrayed him in different lights....he himself transforms into an angel of light, making something that is evil seem innocent and fun.
his best ploy: having people believe he don't exist...this is to his own advantage.. he is a malignant enemy of god and man!

Hey V, the WBTS doesn't own the rights to the word "apostate". The dictionary definition of apostate is : "someone who abandoned his religious faith for another". Try not to look at the entire world, cosmos, universe, whatever, through the filter of the WBTS and you may see things a little differently. Also, try to get off the kick of trying to win arguments and making your point( which I understand to you in precious) and instead, open your mind to the idea of pursuing truth. And understand that in the pursuit of this truth, what seems to be solid at the time can change. The truth doesn't change, but obviously God hasn't revealed EVERYthing to anybody .
