Very true, networking they call it. The biggest value of being priveledged enough to go to a prestigious prep school and a prestigious university isn't just the education you get, but more importantly, the people you meet and network with. They do take care of their own. But that said, let me say this: Let them have their weath and prestige, but not at the current scale. Not on the blood( literally), sweat and tears of those who actually make the world turn, while boning them out of the basics of modern society.

I saw G and F last week in Cleveland. They were great.Their voices sounded as smooth as ever but I will say it took about 2 songs for them to warm up. They were actually off key in their harmonies the first two. After that they settlled in. Simon sang a verse of "Bidge over troubled water" which I had never heard him sing, and it was really awsome, gave me goosebumps. I grew up listening to them with my parents and it was really sort of nostalgic.
Garfunkels voice was far more incredible live than on any recording. Everly brothers were cool too.
I thought it was funny that they Garfunkel mentioned that they had been singing together since they were 13 ... and arguing since they were 14. They also had this guy that totally rocked on guitar and then turned around and was playing the cello. ..very cool.

When I was a JW it was pretty much a weekly thing in the cold weather months for different congregations(actually someone within the congregation) to rent a gym for th bros to play ball. I really like playing ball. When I left, that as something I actually missed. The basketball that is.
We used to keep it strictly JW of course, with the exception of an "interested" one, because we wanted christian fellowship and attitude. And because we wanted to avoid the competetive attitude of the world. Yeah right. Playing B ball with JW's is nasty. I have discovered that it is a much more enjoyable game play with "worldlings" --what an awful term-- than it ever was with JW's.
In JW ball, there was always a couple who would try to keep the peace and remind the brothers of their christian obligations while everyone else hacked, fouled hard, called cheap fouls, and argued.
I go to an open gym now at a church down the street. It is open to everyone. The ages range from 15 to 63. There is even one man who comes sometimes who is 82 -- and he can hoop, seriously, you wouldn't believe it. Anyway there has never been an argument-- people only call there own fouls-- and they are generous. When I played as a JW, winning team held court -- with this worldly group -- winning team sits after two wins. It is like night and day.
Anyone else play JW sports?
I now know that we would have been better off letting the world play with us.We could have learned sportsmanship and teamwork

Oh.... and WillI agree with much of what you say. Your point about these officers stealing from their companies, and by extension their employees, investors, and customers is really something people need to consider. There was a story to day about a Tyco executive who stole 600 million from the corporation. Entered in evidence today was a video tape of a 2 million dollar birthday party he threw for his wife (with stolen money). I wonder how many healthcare insurance premiums for Tyco workers could have been payed or greatly reduced with that party money.
Ellemona, I understand some of the points you are trying to make, but the differences are just too out of proportion to be justified.Working people don't feel that they should make anything close to the president of their corporation, but I don't think they feel he should make 50 million a year and get a 20 million dollar bonus in the same year that the company dereases healthcare benefits and increases the share of the premium that the worker pays. It is immoral. The divide is just too great.
And if you ask me the corporate theif is much more reprehensible then the poor bastard who brakes into your trailer to steal your dvd player. (save the murder of course).

I like these posts.. all thought provoking. But getting back to the original thought. American CEO's make 450 times what their workers do. I'm sorry but this is way out of whack, reguardless of how much education one has. While some were investing their time and money in 10 or more years of additional education , what were those other "working class" people doing, watching "Oprah"? No, they were working , educating themselves with real world experience, and too, many of them were going to some sort of school as well. The divide is just plain unjustified in my view. I mean, how much money does one person as part of a large, and profitable ( or in many cases unprofitable) corporation really earn ?
In my line of work, I have talked to many of these ceos, cfos, and coos. Guess what. many of them aren't that smart. Some of them are. But I would have to say that most of them don't have any more in the way of natural, or schooled abilities than the average poster on this board.
One additional thought, If tomorrow all of corporate officers and all of the directors of the boards stayed home, would the world miss a beat?
Now, what if just 5% of the Utility workers, home builders, police and fireman, maintenance workers, heavy equip operators, welders, waitresses, garbage collectors, and bus drivers stayed home tomorrow? hmmm...

Illegals Working at Wal-Mart Arrested
by simplesally inapparently there was a raid and many illegal immigrants were arrested when they came to work to clean the wal-mart.
of course, wal-mart executives who knowingly hired or contracted these people to clean will be in trouble too, but what is so amazing is the attitude of the illegal immigrant.. now mr. zavala feels cheated, saying he worked as hard as he could pursuing the american dream, only to face an immigration hearing that could lead to deportation for himself, his wife, eunice, and their three children, 10, 7 and 5 years old.
he was one of 250 janitors employed by wal-mart contractors who were arrested at 60 wal-mart stores before dawn on thursday.. "my family's not happy about this," said mr. zavala, who said he paid a "coyote" $2,000 to smuggle him into the united states three years ago.

They should send all of the Wal Mart execs to Mexico and let the illeagals stay and cut the grass.
Or better yet, let the Wal Mart execs cut their own damn grass and let the illeagals return to their home land, bankrolled to start their own Latino Walmart subsidiary :"walmarts".

The "New Personality"

Microphone "Handling"
by SYN inwhat is all the fuss about?
when i was still assimilated (i.e.
still in the borg, but wanting out every second of that time), there was so much emphasis put on microphone handling that it was almost unreal.

Hey, handlin' the mic's rocked my world. I never had such a euphoric and spiritual experience than when I was handing the mic to Bro Hypocrate and Sis Judge. Sometimes I would dry my tears of Godly joy on my square knit tie.
I remember that after I handled my "privilege", I was so anxious to go door to door and share the kingdom news with all who listened ( even though they could give a shit).
All the young ladies were "interested" when you were handling the mics. Ahhh yess. The prestige, the manliness. ( I just know those sistas where looking at my butt). When I was "handling"
the mics, I was the microphone MAN ! Remember the theme to " Saturday Night Fever" ......'AYYY Ayyyyyy AYY Ayyy Stayin' alive Stayin' alive' ......that is the music that served as the soundtrack in my mind as I handled this blessed "privilege".
