There's no mention of "Fred Hall" in the bible....
Mark, what a story. *sigh* Hope you're well.... !
lauralisa, who would download a great jpeg of a cat in a santa suit if she COULD FIGURE OUT HOW...
this thought came to me this morning, as i was lying in bed, trying to figure out which end is up.... the jws dont celebrate christmas, the birth of christ their savior.... because in earlier times, the same date was used to celebrate the return of the sun, the winter solstice.... (by the way, celebrating the return of the sun makes a lot of sense... no sun - no life..... we know the sun is there, we know what it does, no such thing about a god...) .
but i regress.. so, because on this date, pagans used to celebrate the sun, the jws dont want to celebrate christs birth..... its a little bit like not wanting to celebrate the birthday of a loved one, because he/she was born on the same day as a bad guy in history, like hitler, or napoleon, or slobodan milosevic, or saddam hussein, or osama bin laden... etc.... hmmm... my thinking is flawed, because, of course, the jws dont celebrate birthdays either.... question : did they first decide that christmas was evil or birthday celebrating was ?.
edited because the emoticon does not work.... :) :?

A big warm hello to you Angharad...
Better keep your mailbox locked.... with all the mail Simon gets I bet people are going to start going to you to try and "influence" him. And now we know you have a "chocolate" weakness..... and even tho jw's aren't programmed with virgin Mary intercessory options, it's in human celllular memory... it could be way too tempting....
I'll fix you up with a "chocolate pound of the month" club if you get Simon to show me how to download a pic from an iMac using IE....
LMAO @ waiting...

Hi ...
what a great question.... reminding me here like a brick to the head how I just "swallowed" the rhetoric without enough challenge to it...
Frenchy, this is not a direct answer to your question but a pitiful thought immediately came to mind as to birthdays: I remember there being a consistent reinforcement of the joyous conceptcontained in Eccl. 7:1: A name is better than good oil, and the day of death better than the day of one's birth.
Ick!!!! Sheeplike, we'd all sit there in our droned state nodding at the idea that death and its delivery from this futile and diseased current "system of things" was a great thing! I guess celebrating "birth" would mean you JUST MIGHT ACKNOWLEDGE that there is some joy and goodness to be had in life. Well, we all know the price if you are actually happy when you're a witness, or if you enjoy the beauty that can be found in anything not directly involving "service". Full time service, that is.
When I was studying and these topics - birthdays, christmas - Easter, etc. - were being explained to me, I brought up the custom of wedding rings and the origin of them which is WAYYY pagan. It was somehow deemed appropriate by some circular illogic. I didn't push it because I liked wearing my wedding ring, and realized that if we were to actually eliminate ALL customs tainted by pagan influence, we'd have to live naked in trees and eat bugs.
MERRY CHRISTMAS

LMAO.....
Comf,
if someone could help me manage to get anything other than typed words posted on this thing, you gotta deal. I promise. (Neck down shot tho). I'm 98% sure there's a digital camera in one of those pretty packages waiting to be opened on Dec. 25.
LB:
When I was 16 some friends and I went to a strip mall (LOLOL cracking myself up here I MEAN THE KIND THAT IS like in one long "strip" of stores with a sidewalk.....)
At one end there was a restaurant. We went into the bathrooms, took it all off, took deep breaths, ran thru the restaurant, out the door, zoomed along the jammed storefront sidewalk, BUCK NEKKID, and DOVE into the open doors of our accomplice's waiting car. I think we got a whole six-pack of beer for our efforts..... and an adrenaline rush that lasted for weeks.
I'm a grown up now, and completely appropriate and mature in all aspects of my behavior at all times. I'm also a millionaire princess with a chia pet collection on loan to various museums.....

Hey teejay,
Once I was out with one of my sons in tow (he was I think 10 at the time) and a woman came to the door in a t-shirt and panties. I swear. It freaked him out, and NOT in a good way.
I spontaneously tossed the whole "we're on a mission from god" spiel and ended up inquiring whether she was alright.... she said she was, but I went back on a RV (without my son this time!) to make sure. My "antenna" said things were not ok. She did end up getting some intervention with domestic abuse.
I can't remember if I placed any magazines with her.... lol
ps: working on a friendship with unclebruce.....
Warm regards to you all

I wish they would come to my door..... I'd quick run and put on my thigh-highs with the bows and babydoll nightie and answer the door that way and act really interested in what they were offering...
this is my first post and i must say that i have been lurking here from time to time and have been impressed with the content.
back in college i visited the old h2o site many times and this is definitely superior.
thanks to all for the rich content i've been enjoying.. my great mother was a witness making me a fourth generation.
Hi Perry,
Thank you for taking the time to share your insights. This one is a keeper. I look forward to reading more of your posts!
Warm regards, laura
hi there ex-borgie friends and enemies .
sorry i've been away so long...you have no idea of what my withdrawal symptoms were like after going over a week without being on the internet.
it was much worse than going without sex .
Hi MC,
I would like to suggest that you add the "explosive potentialities of variational imitation sucrose products" to your list.
It's really fun! And tasty too!
"Wintergreen" lifesavers work too. I've tested them all.
Thanks for the smile moment.

in france, a new parlament report on sects was just writen (but not yet published)by alain vivien(president of mils)and his team.
to the surprise of all ex-jw victims, jehovah's witnesses are now recognisied as "association confessionnel", in other words religion.
if this would be published, it would be another victory for the wbts worldwide and open new opportunities for them which they well know how to take profit.
Hawkaw good point.
There are/is a postitute in California who falls under the tax-exempt status of "religion" because she claims to be "Goddess." Having sex with her is how people "worship" her.
I think it would be a difficult argument to take up, Joe. I'm support your efforts, however...
