April 20, 1993 sigh

thunder decided to take a nap the other day i looked thru the dvd but since took most of them lol i decided on a vhs tape, i was looking and came upon a tape of the kids talent show 1993.

i even enjoyed watching the other kids seeing them and realizing how they turned out some for the good some not and some aren't alive anymore.

mel and ant were singing "dance band on the titanic" by harry chapin with the tape of it in the background.

Dallas Apostafest Pics!

okay, i'll start it off!

it was a fun weekend -- on friday night we had a fairly quiet (for us) gathering at xenawarrier's and lauralisa's hotel room with hors d'oeuvres and then a nice dinner at gloria's.

saturday was lunch at sonny bryan's bbq and then off to get some culture at the dallas museum of art.

What is happening to our kids?

need some input from you folks.. my daughter is 15 1/2.

she had her best friend for a sleepover last night and this morning my daughter tells me that her friend attempted suicide last week.

this is not the first of her friends to do this and i guess i'm concerned about our youth in general.

Studies have been published about how it goes for kids who 1) have even ONE (1) "safe" adult with whom they can confide and 2) those who do not.

Guess where it goes.

Regarding the suicide threat - I would only be proative if I heard one of my kids' friends say such a thing. No one ever REALLY wants to die; they just want the fire to go out; when no help is in sight, kids say desperate things.... sometimes desperate kids act on those desperate impulses, and sometimes they die

Denial is alive and well. I hate that. I also hate this board formating limitations.

Thanksgiving For My Friends

if some of you with no one to celebrate thanksgiving with, or perhaps just would like to get out after their meal, my door is always open.

we make way too much food all the time and my dfw apostates are more than welcome to come on over.

i wonder what do you all prefer, a personal pic so you know who your posting to or do you prefer a avatar that reflects an aspect of the persons personality?

I've seen you, Sheila, on the morning after some serious, all night long- talking, eating and drinking, when you ALSO have a sinus headache, and there is only one shower for like 12 people, and ..... and you still looked GORGEOUS despite feeling like crap, and have having to harvest cranberries from the bog and prepare them for dinner to look forward to, in addition to all the other "shit happening" in life that goes on. You are so glowing with joy that you'd be beautiful even if you had a fever of 104.6 and were covered in coal smoke.

Now, if you can do a grammatically correct grammatical diagram of the above paragraph, I'll fly you and Thunder to Texas. (Well, if someone else pays for it, that is....*erm* )
