announce was made this week that the assembly halls in london, ohio and indianapolis indiana will be sold and a new 3000 seat assembly hall will be built in southwest ohio.
the assembly hall in london ohio was built in the 70's and is in fine shape - nothing wrong with it.
the new one will cost around 8-9 million.

WOW, I've been to that London assembly hall. That was in great shape. I was in the apartment above it--I think that's where the CO and his wife stays---it was beautiful. I always thought it was funny that they had a tiny museum that included the old cross and crown pins AND Russell's pyramid illustrations! They had this banner thing hanging with pyramid sketches that Russell designed to explain his prophecy. They also had publications that explained the pyramid theories, in a glass case and open for all to read.

Maybe someone should tell the reporter what the theme "Let God's Kingdom Comes" means for HIM! I mean it sounds good, er...but, we will give you an interview today but when that kingdom comes we will rejoice as your body is consumed by vultures!
Yeah, it's family oriented. If taking children into a large group of strangers to discuss masturbation, fornication, apostacy, and billions of people happily meeting their deaths and being eaten by birds is your definition of family oriented. Or maybe the family part about how their disfellowshipped parent or aunt is slated for death soon and we should pray for it to come all the sooner. Or maybe that family part about the hebrew god allowed his main enemy to kill all of Job's children just to prove a point. I'm sure their hearts warm, just as ours do, that those children were simply replaced and life went on as wonderful. Or that really sweet family part where 2 women stood helplessly by as their father offered them to a crowd to be raped and then watched their finaces killed and their mother turned into salt and they respond by having sex with their father. That's a special one.
They learn about loving ancient Hebrew parents who actually had the privilege of casting the first stone when their child became too much to handle. God is really good that way. Abraham and Isaac. That unnamed prophet that turned his wife over to be raped and killed by strange men, and then cut her body in little pieces to be sent throughout the land. I kind of think of that move like a pimp advertising. Isn't the rainbow pretty kiddies? It only took the drowning death of an entire population to get that gift. Oh what about Dinah? I believe she was raped---but somehow when the WT gets hold of that story it all becomes her fault. bad association. You see, her brothers never would have slaughtered all of the men in the city if it hadn't been for Dinah's foolish association! Anyone see that dvd?
I know I get all warm and fuzzy when I consider all the cannanite children slaughtered righteously by a loving god's people. Kids today are so deprived! They never get to witness stonings anymore. Well not here anyway.
Hopefully most of them will be fussing with ties and uncomfortable tights for those parts.

youngest doesn't look too happy leaving meeting,,he doesn't seem to like the jw look and feel of tie and jacket.
poor kid.
Geez. I'm sure Michael would be just ecstatic.
seems to me that we're playing into the society's hands here.. 'apostate' is the most evil and vile word for jw's.
i suspect it's even more of a terrifying trigger word than 'satan' or "demons", for them.. the society gives us that label which they have negatively loaded in order to make it impossible for jw's to hear us or have anything to do with us.
the word is associated with other words like "poison" and "toxic", "disease" and "filth".. so what sense does it make to use it and allow the society to have it's way?.
Well okay Essan--point taken. I will continue to use the word and not actually worry about how a JW feels about it. If they are scared they are not ready. If I worried about what JW's thought, then they really would still have power over me.
Attitudes are shaded in many meanings. It's not always easy to express them in writing. Yet using the word in such a way makes me feel better, so I will continue to do so. The least of my worries is how some JW or anyone else would interpret that.
Also, I'm PROUD to be an apostate. It means I broke away and that' s pretty significant. White people don't understand why Blacks have reclaimed the N word. But one thing is not up for debate---doing so has empowered them. I think I understand on a much smaller level why that is. Yet I'll tell you one thing, I won't let the society convince me it's a BAD thing to be. Then they truly would have power over me. "Oh dear don't call me an apostate cuz that means you think I'm evil and rebellious!" No, I don't think so. Call me what you want. I embrace it. You no longer have the power to hurt me with that word cuz it's mine.

I'm with Broken Promises. Also we are completely taking the power out of that word. They have their evil definition of who we are, but we know it's just us, so it's almost ironic to call ourselves Apostate. I'm pretty sure we wouldn't use the term if we felt we were just trying to extend some WT abuse on us. There is an empowering element to just claiming it for ourselves. Unitarian was a term used pejoritively to mock them for not believing in the trinity (not trinitarian). Well they liked it and adopted it as their own name. For me, that word has no more negative power over me because it's mine now.
i would like to hear people's opinions on intolerant religious groups?
who wins?.
somehow, i have this notion that pentecostals would win 1st place, followed by baptists, followed by jw's.
When it comes to Muslims, it's probably good to look at history. They started out intolerant, but then decided if non-muslims paid a tax they would leave them alone. This was in the middle ages. Christians repaid the kindness by launching the Crusades to take the holy land, and the Inquistion to expel them from Christian lands. There is a history. I'm not saying in any way that this makes things okay. I'm just saying it would be good to understand that history in order to understand the hatred.
I am concerned about the extremism in Islam--it's deadly. Extremism in any religion is deadly and frankly the extreme religious right makes me nervous too. They threaten and kill abortion doctors, and in my eyes it makes me realize that killing is definitely on the agenda. it's only a matter of time before they will find some other issue worth murdering for.
Where there is religion hatred follows. Where there are people, imbalance follows. Mix them and you have ticking time bombs. It's even more dangerous when politics and theology marry each other. This is what the Christian right is trying to do in the US--and if they make headway there is no telling where it will stop.
So I suppose that in all religions I find intolerance and tolerance. It's an individual thing. Some religions attract more extremists than others. JW's don't recognize any other religion as being valid, but they aren't likely to get violent. While the Mormons have violence in their history, they are unlikely to get violent today. Right now today, i worry about fanatical Muslims and conservative Christians. That could change tomorrow, but that's who give me the shivers.
