his name is dave del dotto.
he made a ton of $$ in the '90's selling how to get rich in real estate courses.
Hmmmm. I know a sister that ordered a bunch of info on real estate--maybe from this guy? We talked about buying some property and renting it out. She showed me how this guy teaches to write the lease in such a way, the renter becomes completely responsible for all repairs and maintenance on the property. The point was, it was supposed to cost the owner absolutely nothing and be pure profit. I had said I could see that for simple things like light bulbs and small repairs, but surely they aren't talking big repairs like roofs and plumbing. She disagreed! She said the leases were worded to make the current tenant responsible even for such repairs.
I don't know if that is even legal, but I remember telling her the my CONSCIENCE woudn't allow such a thing. She said that real estate wasn't my bag then! Sounds sleazy. This guy sounds sleazy,. I wonder if there is a connection.

i have smoked, i quit, but now enjoy alternatives such as e-cigs, snus, and even the gum.
i find that nicotine has a nice mental enhancement, has several medical benefits and actually may help individuals to relax and focus.
now the question is this, why does the wts have such a fetish with nicotine?
They put out a lot of soft warnings regarding caffeine. But let's face it, if they took a hard line on caffeine nobody would be able to carry the grueling schedule they expect the R&F to carry out! Who would really be able to get up super early for super early zealous morning service if they didn't get their fix? What would they do on break? They often say that caffeine and alcohol are different because they also have nutritious value--but they don't write against caffeine pills. I think if they had their way, they'd feed the flock on IV coffee if that would help them be more zealous.

well recently i got a long email from a jw in vancouver, she read my blog ( http://sochiolympicgames.blogspot.com/ ) and attacked me hard!
can anyone tell me what i am doing wrong?
my blog simply states the truth, she can't understand the whole picuture.
She simply responded exactly as you could have expected. You act puzzled that she is offended that you talked bad about her "publishing company". Now you KNOW she doesn't view it that way! She believes you are talking bad about Almighty God. She has been trained to be jealous for the name of Jehovah, and conveniently her religion is named Jehavah's Witness. You can't citicize her religion without criticizing her god's name.
I'm on your side, but it's silly to pretend not to know where she is coming from. We all know why she reacts this way.
And yet, they just eat up articles about ex Catholics, Mormons, Amish, Voodooo priestesses that come to the "truth". They have no problem with THOSE people criticizing their old religions and with it family members and friends.
If she doesn't believe she has the absolute truth, her entire world will fall apart. It happened to us. She won't go down without a fight.

Is dm6 being ironic here? Love the jeans---nice an earthy. He must really connect to the common person. The piano music was telling too. Did you notice the dramatic pause---for emphasis---in the music. And as the speaker got more excited and brought the point to a climax the music became louder?
Emotional manipulation. Stage craft. the cross existed long before Christ and has many pagan connotations. Are pagan gods also holding us together?

Cliques are somewhat natural. Groups that share the same interests stick together. We had some in my old hall, but they weren't nearly as tight as I've seen elsewhere. We were known as an exceptionally warm and friendly hall, and I have to agree. I attended 3 different halls in my life, and they were all very different. This one was very social and tried to include others.
But it seemed to work in phases. During times of stress, the cliques grew a bit tighter, then they would loosen up again.
There were people that would feel like outsiders anywhere. I used to try and include them, but it was never enough. They always found some reason to be slighted. (sigh). I know some halls that had extremely lonely people that were always kept on the outside of all social circles. That was that christian love just brimming over.

i can't verify this online but a catholic told me the churches all had a liturgy on how bad gay marriage is and handed out a flyer to remind all members specifically what the church's position was on it.
as if a reminder was needed.. now, call me opinionated, but sheesh.
i get it, the bible condemns it, blahbety blah blah blah.
Jeff said: I am also - I know this sounds like strange-bedfellows - in support of limited government
Actually isn't your stance the definition of limited government? Social conservatives love the term, but really support the biggest government ever. The libertarian stance socially is small government--the opposite of the conservative stance. I'm really sorry they highjacked your movement.

BOTR that is a good point and one I've thought of often. The teenage brain is not finished developing. It is changing all the time. Attitudes and impulses change. When I was a teen, kind of like you, I would have done anything to marry Peter Frampton! mmmmm Frampton. Purple was my favorite color, pizza was my favorite food, jocks were jerks, and math sucked.
I've changed a bit. I prefer greens, only tolerate pizza, married a jock once, and am learning to be fascinated with math.
As you pointed out, the justice system recognizes it and treats juvenile offenders differently than adults. I am referring here to curfew, vandalism, and theft, not rape and murder. Even a teenager can understand pure evil. But they don't fully grasp consequences. This is their time of life to experience and learn the full meaning of consequences.
Not so in the "christian congregation". The rules are the same and the judgement is just as harsh. There are no degrees. The tax evader gets the same punishment as the "fornicator" as the murderer. Getting drunk carries the same penalty as pedophilia. I'm not a christian, but I find it a bit hard to believe that Jesus was quite so black and white. Surely if you believe in a creator you must also acknowledge that he understands immature brains and inexperience.
It's just such a heavy load to put on small shoulders. But it will continue. I had an elder tell me that he was compelled to tell all young people at baptism that there was no rule that they should get disfellowshipped. Because in his experience, the majority of baptized teens get disfellowshipped while still young. That should have given him a clue, but it just led him to admonish them that they didn't have to fall into the trap. So they are losing that battle.

i have been slow to start a thread because i wanted to see what topics were already being discussed.
having left wt i have a disdain for organized christian religion at the moment.
i am interested in your experience, research or observations about non-christian religions and philosophy only.
Through a bit of serendipity, I've been spending quite a bit of time with Pagans and Wiccans. They are much more substantial than most Christian groups I've been around. Judgement is not something that really rates on their radar. They are much less fearful and feel a great deal more powerful over their lives. Instead of reaching outward they reach inward for their strength. I'll probably never be one of them, but they have probably gotten a bad rap. You can discuss about anything with them and they never insist their way is right. They really believe everyone gets to choose their path and aren't big on prosylitizing. When Christians rev up, they do all they can to escape. It's funny.

me ex elder, pioneer was very active but am trying to fade.
one elder knows how i feel and i would not talk to anyone but him.
i miss most meetings now.
I had a friend that was approached by elders--they wanted to talk to her. Well a bunch of BS had been going on and an elder's wife got a bee in her bonnet and heard some hidden insult in every comment my friend made during WT. It was ridiculous, especially cuz the friend really wasn't even thinking about this arrogant person when commenting. ANYWAY, since one of the elders was this woman's husband, my friend suspected it was more on the BS. She pulled her trump card. She would only meet with her "head" present. Mind you, she's not overly submissive, but she used it to her benefit. It worked. They agreed she had that right, and the meeting was scheduled, and rescheduled (hubby was hard to pin down) for quite some time. For sure it made a difference. She had already experienced the bully mentality with them and the elder's wife was always right. They weren't so sure when her husband was with her.
