Oh hey, I just found a Republican candidate for president that doesn't scare me to death. Buddy Roemer. He won't take pac money and will only accept a maximum of $100 donation from any one donor. I think he used to be a democrat. Governor of Louisiana. I still have to look at his policies and learn more about him, but he seems sane and pragmatic. It was a refreshing surprise. He doesn't seem poisoned by the tea party at all.

Yeah, it was probably with Reagan that being smart was ELITIST. Meaning a bad thing. We are certainly suffering the results on the world stage today. How can they stand with straight faces and act like getting an education is snotty???? Oh wait, that explains Bush.
I know they were going after pell grants---which supports my theory that they miss manorialism and seek a peasant class.
mmmhmmmmm. congress made the budget and approved the expenses and now they don't want to pay, but for some reason, it's the dems that need to be adult. Well they have been. THEY put it ALL on the table. The house is dominated by kindergartners that they flatter when they call them freshmen.

I believe they were looking for an actual constitutional AMMENDMENT. That's different. They are using their moment of power to try to force the country to change it's complete structure. If they want an ammendement, then do it right. Put it to the states. Now is not the time. Why should any party give in to such tactics? Are we run by schoolyard bullies now?

You can't force the tea party in congress to vote any certain way. They are ideologues. The more you stand up to them, the more they grind in their heels. It's a shame the Republican party allowed them to gain as much power as they did. But there you have it. The republicans are slaves to their fringe.
The dems put SS, medicare and medicaid on the table. It may mean some people will become destitute or not be able to get health care, but hey, it's the adult thing. What more do you want from them?

i find myself asking that question more and more of late.. my first reason is the claim of a virgin birth.
all of the jewish sources i read say that isaiah 7:14 does not talk about a virgin birth, but rather a birth to a young maiden.
it was only the greek septuagint that shifted this belief to a virgin birth that is similar to their greek myths.. .

OH HEY, I remember the Tracy Ulman Show! Remember when the Simpson's were even clunkier? Also, Donnie Darko is one of my favorite movies. LOVED Minchin's synopsis of it. Maybe I'll watch it again tonight. Definitely not a main stream thing---but then neither is Minchin.

LOVE them Viola! He sang the pope song, but not the good book in Chicago. I was so incredibly disappointed because my friend brought her boyfriend and the trip brought out his evil side. Minchin said he'd come and talk to us in the bar after the show and this dipstick wouldn't stay! It was awful. I found out later that Minchin mingled with the fans FOR TWO FREAKING HOURS! I was so upset, I couldn't even read the whole thing. My friend broke up with that boyfriend immediately. He thought it was a stupid reason to break up, but she pointed out that it showed a characteristic she didn't like.
ANYWAY---he managed to make DARK SIDE funny by switching up the fog---He let the machine go until the stage disappeared and then it kept going. We were laughing so hard we could hardly breathe.
