It has been a year since I started school ** an update**
by noni1974 inwell this time last year i was waiting for my first semester at college to start.
i had no idea how i would do in my classes.
my first semester was a complete surprise for me because not only did i do it, but, i did it well ending up on the dean's list with a 3.57 gpa for the semester.

Well you are dealing with an atheist---so there is a strong chance that he would never accept a bible study anyway. Perhaps they even took the book so they could argue with it. Richard Dawkins has said publicly that many JW's have sent him that book and it is full of flaws. An atheist is much more likely to be aware of this since RD is a famous atheist that used to debate creationists.
Just ask him what he thought of the book. Let him do all the talking. Get bold and tell him that he should research everything in the book independently. Pretend like you have no doubt that it will hold up under such scrutiny. It won't. It's full of mistakes and misrepresentations.
The thing about being an atheist is that it challenges christians. They are endlessly debated. Everyone tries to convince them of the errors of their way. It's unlikely that this is his first go round with a religious person, so he is prepared. But just in case, keep confidently telling him to research all facts presented---independent of the WT.
The book is crap. The thing that helped me turn away was bad information in the old blue evolution book. I was stunned to learn that all the scientific "data" was tampered with and skewed. It had been my favorite book, and I never suspected the org of misrepresenting things. Yet they did, and here I am.

i have chosen to be gay, i no longer suffer with guilty suicidal feelings, i have the most amazing boyfriend, and my parents and friends accept me for who i am.. i was informed today that a judicial comitee will be formed to disfellowship me.
i dont feel any kind of bitterness or sadness despite the fact that this is all i have known for 20 years and im about to lose some very close friends.. on the contrary, i feel fabulous!!!

LOL, how excruciating. I hope things calm down soon. This riot is a terrible things. However when compared to the riots throughout history, even just recent history, it's but a blip. They will see Armageddon everywere-it's what they are trained to do as they sit and passively watch the destruction. Happily plenty of people aren't content to sit back passively or run around with burning hair and this will be brought under control.

I thought it was interesting that investment in the private sector bottomed out, but investment in government bonds went up. I don't understand the dynamics there---apparently investors still trust the US. The stock market mystifies me at times since it seems reactionary---but I expected a different reaction.
Ah well, perhaps someone smart about these things can explain it. I'll be checking.
