over the weekend i was around a group of jw's.
i have not been in such a setting for along time so it was sort of surreal.. so this one older jw woman started to talk about her neighbors and their little girls and how much she liked them.
she said they were a nice family, etc, that they watch each other homes when they go away on vacation, etc.

LOL Bella--JW's bring on their own persecution through neutrality, but the "real" christians don't bring it on through displaying their crosses in public. I'm kind of amused. It's fun to watch groups claim they come by their persecution more honestly than other groups. Carry on.
i met the lovely mummatron 2 weeks ago and had a fab day x. tomorrow, cantleave and nugget are travelling down with their kids and stopping off to say hi for a few hours before continuing through wales!.
im making a huge lasagne, and have got the beers and vino in.......so excited!.
will be great putting faces to the name, and im glad that at long last, i seem to be able to step out of my little world and make friends.. have got my smurf hanging outside the door so they know my house............. feels like an early christmas present, happy days!

i wanted to relate this experience i had on sunday while renewing ties with an old friend.
we argued about the meaning of daniel 4 and nebuchadnezzar's "tree dream".
my friend had insisted this dream told the reader the length of the gentile times.
Mary--yes. But they got that minor/major fullfillment thingy going. Like the guy (I'm getting rusty and can't always remember names anymore) that laid on his side for 40 days represented a bigger picture of 40 years.
When I was a believer, I couldn't always explain 2520---but I understood it. The numbers were hard to articulate. It wouldn't have "stumbled" me because I considered it my own failing. I used to think I should commit it all to memory, but I would forget again. I actually have a better hold on it now. Your friend probably just thinks he understands but can't explain. He'll read the explanation again, and it will all make sense to him.

ive recently decided not to be a witness anymore and at the age of 28 was still so afraid to tell my parents.
the truth is their life and knew i would hurt them.
ive had such a battle with the elders and because my dad is an elder its even worse.

well i work for a rather large company in a large city.
at one point we were the largest employer in the city.
He probably thinks that he works part time with all those kids, puts kingdom interests first, never got evicted, cut off, repo'd, so he has Jehovah's blessing. He feels perfectly qualified to give you advice, because in his eyes he is a success. He is one illness away from reality. I suspect he isn't completely honest either. 20 hours a week and no financial troubles? Are you sure his older kids don't work? Maybe they do and are supporting mama and papa since they won't work to support themselves. Jehovah provides! LOL
Also you say he is African. I have often been amazed at what immigrants can do with money. Many I have known have many family members in the house and go without a lot of things we like to have---like cable and internet. He may just be exceptionally thrifty, and that can be a cultural thing.

I just saw an interview that has intrigued me. Americans Elect is working out a system where ALL voters can be involved in a primary. It's non paritsan and gives the people the chance to choose instead of being given only the choices offered from Iowa, S. Carolina, and New Hampshire. they've made a lot of progress and say they will be on ballots in all 50 states. I don't fully understand all of the details yet, but I think this could be very interesting. In light of what is discussed here, we should take a look at this!

I agree Gary. That's why I looked it up a few weeks ago. I was surprised at what I found, and thought I'd share it. I'm not as clear on the income tax. I think I'll look this up again.
