LOL---even on vacation, Obama played a role in tearing down a tyrannical regime! And while making jokes at a dinner, he was closing in on Osama and shooting him in the eye.
He does more on his down time than Bush did rully present.

here is a question i want to pose because i do not know the correct answer.
i have seen many interracial married couples among jehovah's witnesses--moreso than i have seen in other religions.
however, i have been told that once upon a time, interracial marriage was frowned upon by the wts hierarchy.
Investigator asked: What Watchtower was this little tibit from?
July 15, 1902 Watchtower. Here is the link. There is much more there. I recommend everyone spend some time on JWfacts! It is well formatted and full of information exposing the org from its own literature.

Under the Radar is not being shallow. This is a book that claims to be inspired, and if this god is powerful, he allows the book to exist. I have looked at this book and found it full of evil and much more likely to be written by mere men with no deity involved. You would be irritated if I told you that shallow thinking leads you to believe in that god. For myself, it was only very deep thinking that freed me of that horrible book and god.

Is cranberry juice still effective or has that been debunked? When I was younger, cranberries or cranberry juice was pushed prevent infection, reverse early infection, and speed healing. But it has to be WITHOUT sugar--because the bacteria grows in sugar. I used to buy cranberry concentrate in the health food store and add water. it's not pleasant, it's bitter. I can't qualify it, but to say, at the first sign of pressure or burning, I drank that and only had 2 infections my whole life.
I think you can also buy it in capsule form too. I used to work for a woman that had chronic UTI's and she kept cranberries crushed and frozen and ate a spoonful when she got symptomatic.

this is my first time participating in a site like this , so please.
forgive me if my approach is clumsy.. my story is not extraordinary and hardly interesting, so thanks.
in advance to this forum for extending the bandwidth for my own.
Welcome C.O.B.E. Plenty of people here are still "in" for family. Some are elders and MS. Some people may judge, but most understand and are accepting. Individuals have to decide what works best for them and their family.
I wanted to comment on that feeling you had when trying to teach your child. I had something happen to me that I believe may be connected.
Out of the blue, I could no longer discuss spiritual things. If I was with someone that insisted on discussing these things, i would just start crying. It was like a switch. Talk about the KH, and I would cry. I now understand that my brain was many steps ahead of my thoughts. I just couldn't stand to hear it anymore, but didn't know that yet.
We are indeed complex.

Frankly, if the org had come about a hundred years earlier, they would have supported slavery and they would have used the bible to do it. Perhaps they would have taught the R&F to be gentle with their slaves etc, but I know they would have supported it. They have never been better than the society they lived in---

So it's only the brand name that is discontinued, but the generics will still be available? I just want to make sure I got this straight. Do you know the generic name? I can look it up, just wondering.

I knew someone who's uncle was a CO. She said he went to a white congregation in WV and was met with such racism he actually refused to serve it! I was a bit stunned because this isn't ancient history---I asked how they handled it. She said they sent a white CO there!
No, this org can't claim to be special nor can it claim to be true in any way. Often the world has better morals than it does. If they didn't claim to be so special and unique, then we could give them the benefit of "that's how society was" bs. But they are ABOVE society, so they don't get that out. They were just as hateful as everyone around them. They did not stand up and say "wait, society is wrong---we can't do this!" No---but the Quakers did!

In the south, segregating the congregations was a matter of law. I'm not defending them---they probably didn't protest much. We had a CO that told us he worked in the south during those years. They even needed black CO's for the black congregations and white CO's for the white congregations. He was there when the civil rights battles were in full swing. He had many uncomfortable moments being a northern black man, wearing a tie, carrying a brief case, and knocking on doors. He had a few close brushes too.
Still---the org would be the first to criticize another religion for this behavior. Maybe I should reword my last protest and simply say: I hate religion. Period. Oppression would not have a chance without it.
