My teen daughter is being pressured to get baptized :(

my oldest teenage daughter (15) is a publisher and goes to all meetings with her father (we divorced, he picks her up).

i try to get her more involved in school and to spend more time with friends outside the congregation.

i'm to the point where i'm going to simply forbid it and send her off to collage early!

LOLA, what is your standing in the congregation? From your post about preaching, I assume that you used to be a JW. Are you being shunned? If so, reason with her that as long as she remains unbaptized, she can still talk with you without guilt. What happens after baptism? Will she be pressured to move in with her dad?

Tell her the true cost of baptism. Don't hold back the evil horrors of being shunned. Make her imagine her life with her father and closest friends turning their backs on her in times of need, illness, and even death. Make her understand the evil filthy side.

I Got My Mail At Work Today & I Recieved A Package With White Powder in It!

i called the police and they brought the fire department and police to retrieve the post office package.

i found out that in the last month at least 2 other businesses got this type of package.

the white powder was in a plastic that was placed inside a pack of orbit gum.. the contents were taken and were then brought to the town postmaster.. wish me luck!.

recently i remembered another example which shows how hateful and unchrist-like the witnesses are brainwashed into being.. a long time ago, when i was a pioneer, i was hanging out with a group of long-time pioneers after the district convention, in the stadium hallway.

some had been pioneering for more than 10 years and therefore were considered to be spiritually mature.

a woman who appeared to be a sister was walking by; she paused and greeted us and said something like, "what a great program that was.

Well that was a pretty brutal story. Sounds like that little group of pioneers used the df process as an excuse to act like mean girls. It's funny they bother even pretending they were acting like little bitches for Jehovah---reminds me of the movie SAVED.

Know any Rich JWs?

i was a poor jw.

lived in the worst part of town.. there were rich jws in our congregation, or so it seemed.

they had businesses, lived in a nice part of town, always a new car, etc.

Because of where I lived, I knew quite a few well-to-do witnesses. I also knew a few truly rich witnesses. Surprisingly, in the rich congregations, well----it's not so unheard of to send a child to college. Although even some of the well-off brothers didn't want to send their children to college. I guess they didn't want them to have a better life---which is a natural desire of all parents.

Actually, that's one thing I appreciate. Before the WT, I never even considered the possiblity of being single. I do better that way. However MY single means a boyfriend I can send home. LOL They can take their moral code and shove it.

Is Disfellowshipping a form of Bullying?

i thought that subjec related so closely to the disfellowshipping practice.

Of course. Bullies control through intimidation. They inflict pain when they don't get their way. Bullies don't only hit, they spread vicious rumors, try to turn your friends against you, and get as many people as possible to gang up on you.

we had an elder that was hung up on mens haircuts he had a real thing about how short mens hair should be and even told one bro off for parting his hair down the middle.. even told one bro to shave off his sideburns.. a c.o who was paronoid about sound always telling the bro in charge off.. .

a d.o who orded the attendants to remove crying babys from assemblys on more than a few occations...hans hubler for those that know him..

Shunning..... at Meetings ???

can someone explain why jws shun disfellowshipped ones when they are at their meetings (i.e.

making moves to come back)?.

i can understand why you may not want to 'socialize' with ones who do not share your beliefs.. but surely shunning such ones at the 'meetings'; assuming they are not there to cause trouble, is unloving; should they not be welcomed like the prodigal son.. true christians are known by the 'love' they show.
