  Although they didn't think it was right when what they did was done to them.

  I tend to disagree here PS. At least with the Norse. They believed that a death in battle was the most honorable, and it gave them a place in Valhalla where they would drink mead with the gods. While I'm sure death itself wasn't pleasant, they would much rather die by an axe being driven into their skull in battle than to die the peaceful death of an old man. That was the worst.

  Pirates are another example. They had their code, and when their code turned on them, they generally accepted it as right.

  I don't really debate/discuss things for people to agree with me or to convince or convert anyone, I enjoy having my beliefs challenged and feel that it makes me a better person and believer.

  And it DOES PS, just as it makes me a better unbeliever.

  But seriously, you have actually done a lot with these conversations. By talking to you, I no longer dismiss or presume to know what someone believes. I now recognize that you have given things a great deal of deep thought--and I don't want to change you, unless you make that change on your own. But like anything, if we think we are onto something, we have this desire to present the possibility and the proof.

  LOL---science does NOT teach that humans evolved from chimps. Check it out. Also, science does not seek to prove, it seeks to disprove. When you see words like probably, you are seeing hypothesis and theories expressed with humility. Now your first paragraph, I could have worked with. Then I got into the absolute language of your second paragraph, and at this point, I'm taking Jonathan's wise councel to not engage you anymore. We get people like you now and then, and he's right, engaging just turns messy and tiring.

  I have always enjoyed my discussions with PS though. We rarely agree, but PS has the intelligence and reasonableness to consider ideas respectfully, and with logic.

  I know a bit about science, and it doesn't "condemn" it falsifies. It has falsified the adam and eve myth, and I can tell you many of the reasons why. But first, you must have some understanding of what science has disproved before you can have that conversation. Your sweeping statement that science condemns what it cannot understand is proof of that ignorance. Science seeks to UNDERSTAND what it cannot comprehend---and sometimes individual scientists my not be comfortable with the answer, but that is the process. You seek to simply CONFIRM all you believe, where science works tirelessly to prove itself wrong--because then and only then can understanding grow. You are not open to that. Don't get into scientific discussions until you have a basic grasp on how it works.

  Life did not start in a garden, and humans did not spring from one couple. Science has disproven that.

  Bioflex, our new preacher, ignorance is indeed bliss. You need to familiarize yourself with science before spouting about your mythical adam and eve in a garden. This has been thoroughly falsified. It is IMPOSSIBLE. Seriously---educate yourself.

  I'm so sorry this cult has put you in such a stressful position. But I'm happy that you are there for your daughter and will offer her protection. I don't know any answers, I can only offer some support and understanding. I think what Zid posted is important. Some kind of mental exercise to help you through. Find a PURPOSE for being there---and if it's to collect funny info we can all laugh at--so be it.

  IF you have been DF'd recently.............i want to know.....

  do they tell you "legal requirements" of a df'd behavior?

  like, you cant talk to anyone, if we hear of you talking to other members it will hurt your reinstatement, do they tell you to come late and leave early, do they tell you how to be reinstated, what kinds of things if any are covered after you are told you are being df'd????

  do they tell you their basis (loose scriptural right) to take this action?

  WORLDS APART~TEEN JW MOVIETONIGHT ON SUNDANCE @ 7 EST.

  i was just flipping through the channels to find something for the woman i care for to watch, and i came across a movie tonight on the sundance channel called, "worlds apart".

  it is about a jehovah's witness teen who falls in love with someone who is not.. although i can't watch it now, i am taping it.

  i couldn't look to see if it is a documentary of sorts, but i bet it will be interesting to say the least.. it's on at 7 pm tonight, eastern.

  That is so interesting about the beards! And the open shirts. Hmmph. They never get their pics in WT though! The contents were so genuine, I just couldn't figure out the beards. I even thought maybe that actor is an ex-JW and this is just a little joke or rebellion.

  We should ask the WT why the bearded Danish brothers never get to be in the WT. Hmmmm--maybe this is why their questons from readers are so generic. They have different rules for different countries.

  Just finished. Poignant. I saw the blonde woman on the train---I had no idea she was the real person. Very cool.

  Okay the really scary part that had me screaming NO was when the boyfriend showed up at the hall and showed interest!! LOL

  They certainly caught the spirit. The elder in the beard kind of drove me nuts though---but they really did a good job. I'm glad I watched it.

  It was all subtitled.
