The Civil Rights Struggle: Put it to Rest
by prophecor inwe have been priveliged to have the first black president in the us to serve in the white house.
with the wrestling of the 50's and 60's, king and the kennedys.
race riots, vietnam, the drug culture of the seventies, and so on and so forth, isn't it time we all took a deep breath and take into account all that has transpired between where we are and where we've been?

Talking of Sheep I read an interesting study that concluded that sheep were highly intelligent as individuals but as soon as they joined the flock that intelligence disappeared. so exactly what happens to JWS then

Coverups in the YB of 2011
by Anony Mous infirst of all i noticed that they basically complained a lot about being persecuted but have to dig deep to get examples of real physical abuse:.
russia and surrounding states: they are being accused of being extremist a notion they somewhat admit and books are being banned although sources in russia say even though the ban has been set by a court it is not being enforced since they're appealing to the ehcr.. turkey: a zoning law requires them to change a kh building.
really, persecution to appeal to the ehcr to?

I went to a congregation in bodrum ,turkey a large city in the south west. between 15 and 20 publishers only and the family I was living with didnt go very often and I think the wifes was doinking one of the staff working for them. She was permanently depressed as well . They were an absolute joy to behold and I never went to a jw meeting again.

This Site Has NEVER Been About Having 100% Freedom Of Speech
by minimus ini get a kick out of the posters that get upset over realizing that their opinions are not always appreciated.
the forum owner has made it plain that he calls the shots and not everything expressed by posters will be accepted.. folks, that's thev way it's always been here.
simon will call the shots.

Sometimes things are said because it provokes debate I think thats a good thing. Just because some dont agree or become affended doesnt mean whts being said is invalid or wrong. Didnt jesus say things that provoked anger and heated debate? It didnt mean what he said was wrong but it stoke the fires. I love doing that personally and sometimes it goes a bit too far. Jws have stifled debate and overreacted to things that were true and which is one of the reasons we who were jws left. Personal attacks are wrong but anything else within reason is fair game unless the moderators feel its not . like it or not everything is censored to a degree and there is no such thing as complete freedom of speech.

Handling our fear.

I was raised from 5 years old but had A fairly high iq and was reading fluently by 4yold. My mother did'nt accept the teachings at first and taught me to question everything . Even though I( grew up within the org I never truly accepted it because I saw through the holes in many teachings and was an avid history buff. My parents divorced at 13 we drifted but more fool me i went back in my late 20s. I left again in 2004 after realising what a crop it was and after the peodo issue came out . As i said no fear leaving .

I have to be honest I had no fear leaving at all as Im very outgoing and always veiwed witnesses as fairweather friends. In fact I wiped my feet on my way out and never looked back. I dont think I ever truly bought in to the bs because the bible for me always brought up more questions than it answered. There were no true answers for me from scriture and less from the jws. At the time though I just thought it was a great way to live until I realised it wasnt living at all.
Yes there were some lovely people in there but the leadership is laughable and also too many bootlickers getting on. I truly saw no real love among the brothers although this was supposed to be the defining characteristic. Favouritism, nepotism and turning a blind eye to sin from elders kids just some of the stuff I found disturbing. So No i had no fear on my way out just relief.

Belief does not define character
by Nickolas inhave you ever wondered how there could be so many pedophiles and other miscreants who are jehovah's witnesses, who claim to be the chosen people of god and who profess and honour christian morals?
you could ask the same question of the roman catholic clergy and the staff of protestant run orphanages.
the vast majority of jehovah's witnesses, catholic priests and protestant orphanage staff are not miscreants, but they share something in common with their despicable bretheren and that is they believe the same thing.

Simply saying "its gods will" or "it says so in the scriptures" pretty much absolves religious people from responsibility. things that a person using their thinking and analytical powers would find obscene and immoral can quite easily be allowed from a religious brain washed point of view . Hence murder and genocide in the middle east arabs & jews, the crusades christians and muslim and pretty much every war since the beginning of history.

My GF Told Me She Got Invited To Go To Dinner By A Very Nicely Dressed Man
by minimus inget this: she called me up to tell me a well dressed man came to her house and actually invited her for dinner, a "meal" at the local kingdom hall on the memorial evening.. he gave her the invitation to enjoy the meal with him and quite a few other people on the night the "meal" was being served.. i explained to her that the dinner only consisted of wine and unleavened bread and that she could only watch the bread and wine being passed but if she got a hold of the plate or the cup she had to just give it the next person.. she asked, "you mean there's no dinner like he said?
" i answered there was not.
and she said, "then forget it then!"..
