I would have to see it for myself. But as others have stated, if you do celebrate it, you may as well be labelled bad association by all who know. The fact that this doctrine has been going on for God only knows how long, we know how it was felt about in the past and many JW's don't celebrate it on that account, it would just spell doom for those who do. Personally, being raised a witness, I couldnt care less about celebrating my B-day, since I've never done it or even cared too. But for others, I know how much it could mean for them.

NEW RUMOR: WT ALLOWS BIRTHDAYS
by J.R.R.Watchtower ini've just read at a spanish forum for ex-jw that the wt has cooked a new light article series about social celebrations, including birthdays and aniversaries.
according to a member of this forum 'in short' the wt will let witnesses to decide by 'their bible trained conscience' either they celebrate birthdays or not.
is this rumor based in some real facts or it's just bullshit?.

Do active JW's understand the "new light" on the feet toes of the staue in Daniel?
by donny incan someone enlighten me as to what is the new understanding vs the old one regarding the vision of the statue was given by god to king nebuchadnezzar of babylon in a dream?
i have asked two of the jw's who work with me and neither of them were able to explain it to me.
the best i got was "well the feet and clay are not just the u.s. and great britain, they are i think most of the big powers as a whole or something like that.".

Personally I tried understanding it as the brother at the DC explained. But my mind kept trailing off. But It seems that more people on this forum know exactly what is implied and meant by the "new light" than most actual JW's do.

At the DC, I mostly wandered around by myself. I'm 20. Most of the young people in our hall are leaving/disbelieving/ dont wanna be JW's. I'd wager at least 85% of those under the age of 25. But I still dont like them. Real college type people. Partiers, drinkers bla bla. I stay away....and wander the halls aimlessly...

So what do ya'll think about the recent new light?
by stillin9 inyou know, the thing they were talking about in the 2011 dc.
it was about how the "toes" of daniel's image no longer represent all the individual governments that have come around in human history.
and that the anglo-american world power is the last world power we'll see before the end of the system of things.

I cant wait to find out what the dirt between the toes represents.
The dirt represents the filth of this Earth that will soon be cleansed by Jehovah when he brings destruction to mankind. And the Rashes and boils represent the scars and wounds of the Earth that need to be healed In God's due time.
.....JW's would eat that up. lol

Another thought: The israelites and all others who saw acts of God had good enough reason to serve God. Moses-burning freakin' bush. Israelites- HUGE parted freakin' waters! Believe me, if I saw that today, I would drop everything and pray...as would many others because they know. Now its just too uncertain. Theres not enough visible evidence for me to devote my ENTIRE life to serving the unknown. Faith or not.

I alway felt the same way. I feel that people who pray and experience supposed "answers" and effects are under the placebo effect.

Of course im not completely ruling out God's existense. I just have no idea.

How Many on JWNet are still JWs?
by RayPublisher ini've been wondering about this for some time.
if there are 60,000+ registered users on here, what percentage are actual non-dfed or non-daed witnesses?
if it was 1/3, that would be over 20,000 active/inactive witnesses that post and read these pages- and that's huge.

Me. Decieving my family in believing i'm the wonderful witness they want me to be...though they can tell something is wrong because i have no "zeal" anymore. Just staying till I have the resources to leave home and MOVE. I'm just afraid I will lose my family which will inevitably happen. Dont know how to face the real world.

Angry mob of Facebook JWs.
by fade_away ini was looking through my facebook and one of the friends i have on there is very angry at a particular girl who added brothers and sisters from different congregations as friends for the sole purpose of bashing the jws on their profiles.
they use the word "bashing" but who knows really if all she was doing was showing them genuine, unbiased information about the wt.
anyway, i got a kick out of the fact that an "apostate" infiltrated a lot of jw profiles as a "friend" then went all apostate on them!.

There are talks about FB most notably at the recent DC. They mentioned that there was no clear cut rules, but bible principle to follow when using them. Many elders I know use them.
It's terrible how Satan uses people against God's Kingdom
What I think is terrible is how others(simple disbelievers), and not just in this case can be automatically classified as "instruments of Satan" and "tools". This was discussed brielfy in CoC(still reading).

What I don't understand is how people who know about his "new light" simply being "old light" can tolerate this. Maybe I just don't understand it all but to me, it seems this way. You have old light, turned into new light, which then goes BACk to old light. Since(I'm assuming) this is a teaching completely unique to JW's, that would mean that God purposefully decieved them into creating that new light in the first place. If this was Gods organization and he is supposedly "feeding" the GB with his holy spirit to provide new and CORRECT light to his followers, there should ONLY have been a new light....and not a falling back to the original. Does anyone agree with what I'm saying?

Personally I have no opinion on it. I never knew/payed attention to what it was before. But they did say at the DC that there was going to be a future WT that would go into more detail about the "new light". I'm sure many here will have fun dissecting it :)
