I have a question. So if I am dying and I take the blood transfusion, and I point out that this article says its a personal choice, what will their response be? They would likely say something to the effect of, "the media misinterpreted our words" or something

JW spokesman: We refuse blood, but it's a personal choice
by MrMonroe indublin news story contains a blatant lie from the mouth of a jw spokesman:.
http://www.thejournal.ie/need-for-discussions-between-hospitals-and-jehovahs-witness-patients-234833-sep2011/.
a court order granted today to allow the coombe hospital give a baby a blood transfusion against the wishes of her parents underscores the need for more discussions to take place between hospital staff and patients, says a dublin branch of jehovahs witnesses.. harry homan, from the south dublin hospital liaison committee said that the issue highlighted the relationship between hospital staff and jehovahs witness patients.. he said, however, that there is already healthy discussions happening across the country.. the parents in this case are very happy with the hospital and the care being give to their baby, homan told thejournal.ie.. there is an excellent relationship between the parents and staff and the child is receiving the best of care.. he added that a blood transfusion will only be given to the premature baby as a last resort.. at the moment, she is doing well, said homan.. rte reports that the transfusion will be given to the baby if her condition deteriorates and it is necessary to save her life.. hospitals are acutely aware of the dangers associated with blood transfusions, claimed homan, adding that it is in everyones best interests to seek alternatives.. he said the position of jehovahs witnesses is perfectly clear on the matter of blood transfusions.. we do refuse transfusions, he said.

Dub snubbed by my two best JW friends! :(
by TimothyT inhahahahahahahahahaha!!!.
apart from it being frightfuly rude and ignorant, its actualy very funny and rather pathetic.
i really pity these poor people who's lives are ruled by fear.. across the road from where i was working today lives one of my 'very good jw friends' who no longer has anything to do with me.

Good job Timothy! It funny how they feel pity for you as if YOU are the one who is miserable without them and the organization. When, in reality, it is vice versa. I can see this first hand in my own hall. "Bad" association runs rampant in our hall(and admittedly there are a few), and then you have the couple of "good" ones who are really great and nice people, but have no freinds or dont hang out with anyone because all the other young people are "bad". So they are forced to "widen out" and associate only with the older ones. They will get old VERRRY quickly. Have a happy life Timmy! I envy you :-P

Local Needs: Low Hours
by breakfast of champions inthe local needs was about low fs time in the cong.
about 1/3 of publishers are averaging 4 hours per month.
that is unprecedented in our cong, a usually 'zealous' congregation.. my take is this: if you don't believe it yourself, why are you going to waste valuable time telling others?

@sir82: very true. Then you have those who do the "pioneer shuffle" in service, barely walking and counting all of that as witnessing time. Those time reports must be so off.
I think my father(elder who handles all the time for the congregation) must make up hours for me. I have turned in time all of about 3 times this year. I dont understand how I'm not considered inactive yet. I usually only make 1-3 hours a month.

Effective means of "apostasizing" at conventions and assemblies?
by stillstuckcruz ini notice most apostates will picket signs or try to place their own literature with the witnesses.
i cant see how the latter is effective since jw's are so heavily bombarded with warnings about apostate literature.
i was thinking that an effective strategy might be printing out lots of copies of older and current magazines, highlighting specific phrases and words, and stapling them together to show the obvious inconsistency of the wt.

Well, a photocopy is what it would take to convince anyone, because they all know that apostates change the wording in the stuff posted online.
^lol. Yea. From a JW mind this would be the near automatic resonse: O they MUST have changed the wording, no way we would EVER say these things.
But I still believe its a better alternative than apostates own literature. Especially since, if they are at ALL interested, they can look it up themselves.

I absolutely believe this. After finally deciding to do reasearch on JW's, I came to find out just how many are still counted among the 7 million JW's. But just how many of these counted 7 million are totally into it is a total mystery. So many are faking their way through until they can make a break for it. Or can't leave on account of their families. The "this system's pressure" excuse gets old. It really make me wonder who is sitting next to me at the Kh and not actually wanting to be there...

Nightcrawler: "The Greek word translated here as “mentally diseased” is “noseo” which means being sick with any ailment of the mind, and in this application specifically spiritual sickness.
The truth of the matter is every human is mentally diseased regardless of what we may personally choose to believe, some more then others, in fact not recognising this shows just how far we may have already been affected by this epidemic."---And so here he has basically implied that he is an apostate. Apostates are branded "mentally diseased". If everyone is mentally diseased, he must be an apostate......

o my, yes! Justifying calling apostates "mentally-diseased". There are lot of other phrases that are in the bible that we don't simply walk up and call people. If I walked around calling people "stupid", or "fools" and an "@ss", they'd probably beat me up. Just because a phrase is in the bible, does not automatically mean it can be applied and said to any labelled individual.

Well photocopies is what I was implying, mainy because there are very few issues of the older WT's availlable. I still think photocopies that they can look up themselves at some points are still more effective that apostates own literature.
@ theredeemer: very good point. Those articles were not truth so are they apostate material? It also begs the question: All the witnesses of that very early time were learning pretty much falsehoods and lies that have since been replaced. Will Jehovah destroy them at Armageddon for apostacy? Or for not taking in "accurate knowledge"?
