Attending WT meetings/functions

i've been inactive for over 4 years now but i'm still attached though - loosely.. i will occassionally attend a meeting or portion of an assembly or convention.. i get a mixed reception at these gatherings.

generally my experience has.

been that the larger the group, the more inclined i am to run into some who.

Last year I attended the memorial of an old friend at the hall. I had been inactive for about two years at that time. The only reason I attended was because I like the man and his children. But I never felt comfortable there. Many came up and said "it's so encouraging to see you here, I've missed you" and my reply was standard, "I missed you too, but I haven't moved you know". The older ones are always more gentle at my old hall. Less judgemental.

I'm not going to attend any more memorials. I want to just fade away.

Question for you all

i was wondering if anyone has ever felt like they were in a relationship where the person is an empty bottle with holes in the bottom, and you are constantly trying to fill them up?

i was listening to the song not the doctor by alanis and it triggered this in my brain.

i would love to know everyones thoughts and experiences on this..... steph

don't worry, folks...it's only for an hour.

my son-in-law has his first public talk today, and i was invited to attend the event.

it seemed to be very important to him and to my daughter that i be there, so i agreed.

Glad you survived. I can't imagine going back myself again. Not even if my son was giving a public talk. Oh, I think I'm going to put that in my prayers tonight. Scary thought.

we put our first tree up, a blue spruce with white lights and a hodge podge of ornaments and a little tinsel.

it's beautiful and was a lot of fun, the kids were so picky about choosing where to put their ornaments.

anyone else have a picture of their tree to post?

Hmm Yardif, sorry I don't measure up to your standards. Wow, how many years did you spend in a kingdom hall. Too many I'd say as you are just as judgemental as any car group. My son knows how I feel. I just don't want to make it difficult on him as he is an active witness. There is no lie there. No one at the kingdom hall considers me a witness as I haven't attended a meeting for 3 years. Would you respect me if I ran around in the parking lot holding up signs? That's as laughable to me as door to door.

I'm wondering if you'll be back on the radar myself. That's a huge fear of mine. I even avoided the memorial of a friend this weekend to stay hidden. Let us know if ANYONE tells you how "encouraging" it is to see you again *S*

I so want to put up a Christmas tree again. But my fears about getting DFed and screwing up a relationship with my son keeps me from doing that. I wonder if after 3 years being inactive and no association with witnesses makes me safe yet? Before my wife and I got stupid and got baptized she had the prettiest trees. She's collected hallmark ornamments since the early 70's. Oh, we didn't get rid of them either, just hid them.

Car Group Visited Today

just when i thought i was almost over being angry my "brothers" got my blood going again.

my wife and i were polite, saying at first it was good to see them after so long and the first thing the elder in the group said was..."well you know where to find us, at the kingdom hall.

" well normally i'm fairly mild mannered, but, that just got under my skin.

I'm in the USA and up here in the northwest they also employ the drive around techinque. It's a rural area here so the normal goal is two houses per person in the car. The normal prayer is Please, don't be home.

Oh and as a note, later in the evening my wife told me that I was way too polite to the jerk. That the man she married would normally have thrown him off the property and she's wondering if I'm going to return to being a man anytime soon.
