What don't you miss about meetings?
by kwijibo in.
i don't miss being spoken to like i was someones best friend when i know they wouldn't pee on me if i was on fire.. i don't miss always standing on my own and having no one come and talk to me.. i don't miss having people talk around me about the great time they had at the latest sport/barbecue/dinner get-together which i wasn't invited to because i'm not spiritual enough.. i don't miss not having friends in the truth or out of the truth because i shouldn't mix with wordly people.. i don't miss being so bored for all those hours a week.. i don't miss all the false smiles people give me when i look at them at the hall and the way they look away when i walk past them at the shopping center.. .................. anyone got anymore?

While I do miss some old friends I certainly don't miss the self righteous attitudes that so many have. That holds true with most religions, but it's especially true with witnesses. After all they are the only ones that won't be destroyed.
Once at the mall after a meeting (which I skipped) a sister asked me why I didn't attend. I told her I just didn't feel like going that day. She tells me "well I hope I'm not standing close to you when armagedden starts". Wasn't said as a joke, she was dead serious.
I smile and tell her that the odds of her being close to me at any point in time are very slim. Not to worry.

Not everyone feels sorry for this man. ; I'm sorry he has to go through all this but the fault rests on his shoulders, not the societies. ;

Perhaps a few scriptures about honoring your husband? PERHAPS!!!!!!!!

You are so out of line here that's it amazing that you would even consider it. ; Maybe there are more reasons for her leaving you than you have considered. ; It might be more about the type of man you are than what people pushed her into doing. ; You are blaming her for her unscriptual (?) leaving. ; She doesn't have to honor you at all after you've dishonored her. ; I don't care if the society says she has forgiven you because she spread her legs for you after you cheated. ; In the real world the rest of us know that she did not forgive you. ; She isn't Christ and I don't know of many women capable of forgiving a cheating husband. ; Especially one that wants to drag up scriptures to try and force her to stay. ;

Work on yourself. ; Stop looking for sympathy and stop pointing fingers. ; Accept full responsibility for her leaving and then you'll be ready for a relationship with a woman. ; I doubt it will be her. ; It seems she has moved on, I suggest you do the same.
-

Did Anyone Ever Like The Dramas?
by minimus inat the district convention, the highlight was always said to be the dramas.
did you really look forward to them?
was there one that ever stood out?
-
LB
Well I didn't look forward to the drama as much as the closing prayer.
Oh I'm such a damn liar. I was gone long before closing prayer.

Are You A Happy "Apostate"?
by minimus insince you've left the "truth", are you now, finally, happy?
-
LB
Well I was unhappy before I was a witness which is probably how I ended up as one. Then I was happy as a witness. Then I left and I got super happy.
Happy Happy Happy

Thanks. I haven't got a single photo of me coaching yet. But my wife has a zillion videos of me marching up and down usually looking like I'm about to pop a gasket.
Tonight I pulled a couple of strings and got several current and ex college players to come up and scrimage. We turned on the scoreboard and kept track. These guys are big, fast and shoot the lights out. At first it started to get away from my boys but they lifted themselves to the competition. It was a great workout. Final score at the end of regulation was highschool kids 84, college guys 87. Those college guys were totally impressed at the fitness and skill level of these kids. They want to come back once a week to help out.
I told the college guys that I wanted my big guys hammered underneath the hoop. That I wouldn't call them for fouls if they manhandled my kids. They did a great job of it too and enjoyed every minute.
I'm really pumped right now. We had some mental lapses but they are very tough and ready to win it all. I doubt I'll sleep a minute tonight.

Anybody here ever go on chaperoned dates?
by unbeliever ini use to get the biggest chuckle when the elders insisted that when going out on a date that someone older and mature had to go with you to make sure you don't fornicate.
how imposing!!
i have a friend (did the fade) that was stuck with her brother being the chaperone a couple of times when she was dating her then boyfriend.

Well Stephanus we were all going to the movies together. It seemed a reasonable way to dodge the JW bullets to me.
Ummmm some of us are older than 48 and still have raging hormones.

District convention hotels
by YellowLab init's been a number of years since i've been to a district convention.
do they still have the preferred hotels list they distribute in january?
i remember how some would purposely leave the hall early that night so they could get home and call in their reservations before everyone else.

LB
We stayed at approved hotels a couple of times. The last was when I went to pay and discovered that people off the street were getting the rooms cheaper than we were. That did it for me. I went to the brothers at the convention the next day to report it and they shook their heads. I did manage to get the cheaper rates but it was laughable.
