I think the difference these days is we are more politically correct. Then again during WWII there weren't protestors lined up complaining about everything we did. France, England, all of Europe loved our butts back then.

US troops, liberators not dominators
by simplesally ini saw an interesting quote on the yahoo news page.
i never heard this expressed and was wondering how the troops went into france at the end of wwii since they were liberating her not going to take her over.. wolford also told them to take down the u.s. flags from the tops of the tanks.
"we will be entering iraq as an army of liberation, not domination, so it would not be right to go in with the american flag flying," he said.

No there is no body to view, yet. What they are saying is that we had inside information leading the the location of Saddem and his generals. We attacked that posistion hard last night dropping a 2000 pound bunker buster bomb on them. It is believed that all there were killed, but no confirmation yet.
We can't possibly stop bombing yet regardless. While troops are busy surrendering to camera crews we don't occupy the country. Nothing stops until the government itself is gone.

Confusion about support for forces and support for war
by Simon inthe government here is claiming that support for the war is growing and encouraging people to 'get behind our forces'.. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/2863055.stm.
i think they are taking advantage of the fact that people will naturally support "our forces" to make out that people are then supporting the governments actions.
to put it another way, just because people oppose the war does not mean that they want "our forces" to lose.

So, I think it is a perfectly reasonable and logical position to be against the war but supporting the forces.
I'll agree with you again Simon, as distasteful as that seems.
But actually I don't wany anyone dead. I would love to see those Iraqai forces wave the white flags and save their own lives too. They aren't evil, it's just their leader.

Lew, Charlie, I think it is time you two hug each other. It's done like this.....
(((((Charlie))))) (((((Lew)))))
I dare you two, no wait, I double dog dare you two. Now I met the both of you at Rachel and Steves home. I know the both of you are good guys. One thing I enjoy doing is arguing with friends but right now this entire thing has turned into a name calling event. I think that people who don't personally know you are wondering about all this. It's coming off a bit ugly.
OK, I have hugged you two bastards, now it's time to hug each other
Double dog dare ya

I should take a photo of the next picnic table the kids float over the falls. It's great sport for them. We've chained those things to the trees, cemented them into the ground, doesn't matter. Those kids set them free.
But we catch them all too often and make them build new ones.
Fun stuff in the country.

XW no way is this site the right place for a kid to be on. Chat is pretty bad at times.
There are ways to control your kids access to sites, some of those parental control programs are supposed to work pretty well. I suggest anyone with children limiting their kids access.

I shunned someone one time. He was recently DFed. I think he might have been about 21-22 years old at the time. He walked up towards me and I just looked right past him and kept going.
When I got home I gave him a phone call and the next day we met for lunch. I knew I wasn't going to last long after that.
Some things are just wrong aren't they?
