I did the slow fade at first, but at some point in time you have to do just what you did. Now the trick may be to fade away, become inactive. What is difficult (I have this problem) is to keep your mouth shut around people. That's if you want to maintain some sort of acceptance in the JW community.
Making non JW friends wasn't that difficult. I started volunteering for little jobs at school, helping out with various things such as sports and other activities. Before you know it these horrible worldly people accept you and surprisinly, they seldom spend a lot of time judging you.

Faith
by Jackyboy ini was a regular christian before a jehovah's witness person came knocking on my door.
i did not know what a jehovah's witness was when i met her.. she's a very nice person, and brings her 14 year old daughter everytime.
she says i should not watch tv, and should not listen to music, and should not play video games, because they will corrupt me, because they are what devil has created.. my friend told me that they are extremests and he is very worried about me being in contact with jehovah witness people (as you can see, i'm not too sure of how to address them either).

Jacky you just have to be firm. Be polite and respectful but you have to say this...."please do not call on me again and please put me on your do-not-call list." If she's a witness she will have to mention this to an elder who might call on you and ask you if this is really what you want to do. You'll politely tell him yes and that will be the end of it. Trust me, witnesses find very few people at the door that are willing to spend anytime with them. If you question their UN stand or anything else they will come back armed to the teeth with all sorts of "important" information to share with you.
I used to love a challenge at the door. Made me stronger, until I got smarter *S*.

la/anaheim --> vegas
by gotcha inhas any of u tried driving from anaheim to vegas?
was it a good experience?
or you suggest flying?
-
LB
I've driven it many times. It's not a drive of much interest and if you are just going to hit casinos then I'd take the jet. You certainly don't need a car in vegas. Still I enjoy driving and if I still lived in Orange county I'd drive.

I am sooo ashamed!
by moman ini am so ashamed to admit that i waz called a jehovahs witnesses, that sometimes i want to move & change my name!.
how many of you feel the same, or do you share the camp of those who say, "everything happens for a purpose"?
even though i have been out for about 3 yrs., i still can't believe i waz that stupid!

*catches breath after seeing Xena's pic*
Moman I can relate. I feel more stupid than ashamed though. I'm also out for 3 years now and only recently has the anger stopped. They don't come around anymore and I'm grateful. My wife has been out for 2 years and she's still angry.
As far as good that came out of it I don't see any. My son is still stuck in and married to a JW bitch. Only prayer I have is that he wakes up.

Lady Lee's story
by Lady Lee inborn in toronto, canada in 1952, i lived with my parents and three younger brothers until i was ten years old.
there was a lot of violence in our home.
my father was an abusive, rageful man who took out all his frustrations on his family.

Lady when I read stories like your it makes me reflect back on my life. I didn't have it too bad. In the long run, my becoming a witness was my own dumb idea. Had the normal childhood and the normal lousy marriage. All in all, things aren't so bad now.
Sounds like you've pulled your life together and managed to do some good along the way. Way to go. Be proud.

I never thought about jealousy
by metatron inas i look back over the trials and tribulations of.
being a witness, there is one aspect of it that i. never gave much thought about.. jealousy.
it just never occured to me.

Aaaaha the jealousy issue. I recall one book study. My son opened the meeting with a prayer, and sort of stumbled a little while closing it. He was just 18 and just baptized. Well this one older sister, that had ugly stupid grandkids of her own, just tore into my son. She said as soon as he did the amen "why that was the worst prayer I've ever heard, you are worse than my husband".
She had always had something negative to say about my son, maybe because he's a good looking kid and all the girls in the hall were interested in him. While her ugly stupid grandkids more or less got ignored.
I wish my son would think about stuff like that more, maybe he'd get out of the cult.
