One difference in my life is my son wouldn't be married to a needy, lazy manipulative little brat. Am I getting bitter again???
I was only in for a few years, so other than "her" there really wouldn't be much difference in my life. I'm back in the community and my "worldly" friends have welcomed me back with open arms.
Sadie how long do you think you will continue to study? It's different in all halls, but I was told to discontinue a study with a man after he didn't want to get baptized after one year. He had studied two books and enjoyed the study but he knew enough to know he didn't want to commit.
Welcome also Sadie. Hope you get to make some good friends here.
I think you are a publisher, a non-baptized publisher, if you go out in service.
Mine is fairly simple. First they do treat you differently after baptism. You are always doing great when studying, never doing enough afterwards. But then there was an appointment of a horrible man in my old kingdom hall. I went to the elders with my required two witnesses. It was all ignored. They do what they want. Then I saw how differently people are treated. Depending on who's family you are from.
But the obvious mistakes were the final straw. 607, change in generation (done to save their butts)and of course one false prophecy after another. What is the sign of a false prophet? One false prophecy.
well, the year is nearly out, and as the new one approaches i'm thinking back on 2 years of being in the online exjw community and, in june 2002, my four year anniversary of my df'ing.. when first i came to h2o seeking comfort and support in january 2000, i had been df'd for a year and a half and online nearly 4 years but never had the guts to type "jehovah's witnesses" into a search engine.
that search led me to freeminds (thanks, randy *hug*) and then, to h2o.. what a journey its been.
i've gone from devastation at losing my family, to anger, through the anger to numbness, back through sadness, and now after much soul searching and a chance change of circumstances last summer, come to look at my disfellowshipping in an entirely new light.. those who know my history know that i was born into the borg, baptized at 12, married at 19, and was a very loyal, unquestioning dub until the age of 24 when the elders told me that my miscarried babies had no status with god.
Esmeralda I've been to your website in the past and think about you often. Interesting take you have there on disfellowshipping. How it's a protection for the DFed. I must agree, it makes sense to me that you may have been sucked back in without the shunning.
>>>>>Brock, who will be giving a sermon this Sunday entitled, The Baby Jesus or Harry Potter? said the church plans to hold a holy bonfire Dec. 30 to publicly burn Harry Potter books and other so-called unacceptable material.<<<<<<<
I wonder if he'd enjoy burning my old watchtower colletion???
anyone have any good ideas on how to keep dubs from constantly returning??
they don't seem to leave the area alone with just requests and they are preying on those who live in a development that do not have the money to file a lawsuit.
Being put on the do-not-call list works the best. You have to contact the local kingdom hall to do this. Also the vast majority of witnesses will not knock on a door with a "No Jehovah Witnesses" sign on it.
