  Was Simplification the Downfall of the Watchtower?

  a thought i had daydreaming while at the recent convention .

  old timers in the organization often reminisce about the way the wts was many years ago.

  attending a convention meant (a) getting hot meals, (b) orchestra music before and during sessions, and (c) two, three, or even four dramas.

  NB,

  Some years back I asked "Norm" (any of you remember him--Norm Hovland) to compose an essay on "Simplification." Much to my chagrin, he never did.

  You have made up for it. However with an essay this good, you have now caused me to ask, WHAT TOOK YA SO LONG since you only have, like, 110 posts in 4 years. GET WITH IT.

  Just wait till they start studying the Revelation book for a record 4th time.

  Yes, but it should be more exciting this time around because of the 4 pages of corrections distributed in the September KM. LOL!

  Major Organization Announcement In October

  What if you could have your JW membership annulled?

  i was thinking what a stampede there would be to do that-what if they made a special announcement at the kh next month, that anyone who felt they had made a mistake in getting baptised could request an annullment.

  their name would be removed from the wt records and they would be treated like someone who had never been a baptised witness.. this offer is good for one month only, hurry in to your local kh while this offer is still available.- remember the deadline for this special program is october 31st!.

  i think maybe, i've been watching too many end of the year 2006 model new car clearance commercials!.

  National Healthcare for the USA

  just an fyi for anyone interested - there is a major drive on to push the bill forward for national healthcare in the usa.

  you can sign the petition by going to http://www.onecarenow.org/.. it has gone through one part of the process last year and now the push is on to get it moved to the next level - it is backed by over 400 groups including the uaw i believe.

  it is no longer if it happens, it is only a matter of time as to when it happens.

  Clearly Swife chose not to read the article I embedded on this page about UK's NHS system going BROKE and people dying because of it. Big Surprise.

  Swife are you employed full-time and in what capacity? Do you have health benefits? Do you use other forms of social services? Do tell.

  There's a word for people who always have drama and always need help and are never self sufficient. Ne'er do well.

  I could be wrong, but the guy that started Jiffy Lube was a JW. For reals.

  When we used to go to Maryland, we would hang with his kids, they lived in Prince Georges (?) county. You don't live there unless you have 'money's mamma.'

  our view of life on planet earth (not to mention elsewhere) is framed inside a rectangle of voyeurism.

  movies consisted of a larger rectangle with better sound and cushier seats.

  Its hard to say because if she has no experience, she probably won't be giving clear signals. You might have to take the initiative and see if she catches on and flirts back.

  In her thirties, devout Christian says a couple of things here. Has she let you know she is a virgin? Run like hell.

  Why no e-mail and PDF?

  i am new to the group, so i apologize in advance if this has been discussed.. i study comparitive religion, so my query is not so much anti-jw as it trying to understand.. on the jw site - both watchtower and jw-media, no jw magazines, brochures (save for some fact sheets from jw media) are available in pdf.

  comparitively to other religions, they're more than happy to offer pdf brochures, magazines, tracts, etc., to get the word out.

  moreover, there is no e-mail contact whatsoever - they are implicite that they don't repond to e-mail - except for the "want to learn more" page, presumably for recruitment.. i assume this is a thoughtout premeditated strategy related to distribution or containment, rather than simply not embracing technology.

  I am a person with human dignity no matter what other people think of me. Even if they don't think of me the way I would like, I don't need the approval or caring of others in order to feel good about myself. I am the most important person in my life because I control my life.
