how do most of you now feel about the military?
by sowhatnow inwas not sure where to post this, but i was curious, how do some of you now feel about the military?
would any of you let your children enlist, or would you yourselves join any military field?
how do you feel about the idea of women in the military?

Interesting question. Although I believe in paying back Caesar's things to Caesar, I have the utmost respect to those that served. -

He should pour that crap over his own head. By their own teaching, each & every one of the GB are guilty of the "unforgiveable sin". They know it's crap, they know thousands have suffered and died at their hands & that makes the Scribes & Pharisees look like CHOIRBOYS COMPARED TO THEM. It's a shame there is no burning Hell. These clowns deserve it. -

I'm 64. Let's see.. walk into a room; forget why I'm there. Call the wife by the last wife's name. Forget the names of the grandchildren (I only have four). Drive to town; buy everything else but what I went to town for. Try to start the truck with the wrong key. Yeah; this getting old crap is nothing what I expected. (Oh, I forgot, I'm never going to get old. Jokes on me...) -

Walking a thin line - Resigning Elder
by Sanchy inwarning of a long boring post ahead.
i feel like i need to vent my story out, as i feel quite helpless at the moment.. i'm 31 year old, married, father of toddler with another one on the way, due later this month.
i've been serving as elder for about 4 years now in a south florida congregation.

Best solution is to become "inactive". You'll keep your social network & you are free from participating. Over a period to time, people will get used to this situation. As many will attest on this site, move very slowly in convincing your wife. Be extremely careful at not being labeled an apostate. Friends will put up with "inactive" but the "apostate" label is a game stopper. Good luck. I lost 50 yrs. & a daughter to this religion. Glad to see you out early. -

The slow trickle has become a steady stream!
by freddo inin the last few weeks it seems that instead of one or two new posters a week we seem to be getting several every day.
many seem to be long time jw's who are troubled by the path of the organisation.
this is really encouraging to those of us who have been here sometime.. welcome!

No organization can continuously lose qualified management people & survive. Yet this is what the GB will have to deal with. It's a double edged sword. You have to be intelligent enough to lead which means you're also smart & perceptive enough to realize it's just another manmade religion. That paradox will slowly drain this cult of leadership. Just look at the current clowns they have running this show. If the GB boys were smart, they would grab their collective golden parachutes & bail from this burning wreck. -

Is this a true statement? Elders that are DF will be reinstated much quicker than the average publisher.
by James Mixon inback in the early 70's there was a brother, well known in the circuit did the no no with.
a few of the young sisters in the congregation.
he was df and the word, he would never be.

I was a well known elder that got DF'd after a divorce. I had one on the JC that told me to my face that as I was well known, it would be awhile. I can't thank him enough. I stuck it out for 2 years, sitting in the back of the hall. I got sick of the hypocrisy, did my research & left. It was ironic because the elder himself had been disfellowshipped for adultery & it was 10 years before be was reinstalled as an elder. Again, thanks Frank. You'll never know how much of a favor you did for me. -

"Even if it isn't the truth, it's still the best way to live"
by Simon inhave you heard that old chestnut?
i have.. typically it's the last resort when you have dismantled a jws beliefs and they have no way of defending them.
they know they are beat so they come out with that one.. its effectively an admission that you are right and they have no argument but they are still going to attend meetings because they like the social club.. what a lame way to defend your faith..

If it isn't the truth, you're in a man made religion. If your in a man made religion you're part of "Babylon the Great".
If your a "true Christian" you're obligated to obey the mandate to "get out of her my people". To stay in would label you as an opposer to "the truth". And we all know what happens to opposers......... Better to worship God privately & be a good Christian. As I always say; Live Well...Enjoy Life!!!

knock knock
by Sabin inif jw`s come knocking at your door, do you open it & engage in conversation, tell them to sod off, or just not answer the door?.
my husband`s has asked me not to answer the door to them if he isn't here?
he hate`s the fact that they make a point of calling when they know he will be at work.

I tell them I just moved in from out of state & used to study. When they ask why I quit I mention a few things I found out while doing my own research. I've had a great time shooting down 1914, meaning of a generation, pedophiles, flip flop doctrine. They eventually quit stopping, but not before they get a thorough anti- witness from me. -

Hi ADD; I'm over in the Fingerlakes on Seneca Lake. Great wine country. In the 40 mile stretch from Geneva to Watkins Glen on Route 14 we have over 30 wineries, distilleries & microbreweries. Come on down this summer. Garlic Festival is 1st week in August at Fox Run Vineyards.
