what would you say and what would you show them to prove the WTS has misled many?
Also if that person asked if the WTS had violated any scriptural prinicples how would you respond?

as of 11:45 this morning (i had a telphone call this morning with the refernce department person named holly at 212-963-7234), i can tell you that the watchtower has disassociated itself from the united nations dpi!!!!!!.
the dpi is now taking them off the list.
the dpi requested the list removal to be done this morning!!!!!.
I think it would be interesting and very informative if there was an interview done with individuals who were imprisoned because they were attempting to follow the Societies literature on not having any involvment with the goverment, military, etc.
Then note their reaction after learning that Society had voluntarily associated themselves with the UN.

Wow, I'm really interested in how this is going to turn out.
If everyone could bear with me on this next question, is it possible that the WTS could be innocent in this situation?
I highly doubt it but I think its a good idea to look at both sides of the issue.
this morning a thought occured to me "has the society ever made a prediction or prophecy that has come true"?.
most of us are familiar with the prophecies or dates the wts has emphasized in the past.
of course all of those predictions never proved to be accurate so the question is, "if this is god's prophetic organization where is the proof"?.
Thanks for the concern LDH, even though the post was somewhat sidetracked I really don't mind. Kind of gives me a little insight on some of the members here. I've also learned some new things in regards to the many failed predictions.
i've heard that the society has changed information in their volumes/cd's from what was originally printed.
can someone give me a few examples of this?.
i'm also looking for scriptural information about the disciples and their misunderstanding of jesus teachings.

I'm also looking for scriptural information about the disciples and their misunderstanding of Jesus teachings. Whenever I talk to anyone about the Societies failed predictions or changes in doctrine the first thing they say is that the disciples made mistakes too. So basically what I'm trying to find out is what exactly took place in regards to those mistakes the disciples made.
Thanks for any help you can provide me with
over the past couple of years i've been really questioning myself about why i have doubts about the wts and even the bible.. even though i've been raised as jw all of my life i've often felt that i was'nt really a religious person.
unlike some of the people around me i just could'nt (and still can't) work up any excitement about the bible.. so after much thought i've come to the conclusion that the disturbing thing about all religions is that fear is emphasized more so than love.
some might argue and say that the bible teaches just the opposite, some will no doubt think about the scripture "god loved the world so much that he sent his only begotten son".
Ashitaka - I can defintiely relate to how you feel. I'd hate to think that there is no God as well. But its really confusing to know what is right or wrong.
There are many, many JW's who are convinced beyond the shadow of a doubt that they have the truth. But then on the other hand you have just as many people from other religions who have that same belief in their faith.
Part of me believes that JW's is the right religion and the other part is doubtful. There are a lot of positive things that the org has accomplished and done but there are just enough negative things going now and in the past to make you wonder whats really the truth.
Also I find it odd that the Society rarely mentions their mistakes from the past. If this is truly God's organization there should'nt be anything to hide, but it looks like thats exactly whats going on in the WTS. They seem to be quietly trying to cover up certain things.

Thanks for all the replies, this has been very informative reading for me. It makes it easier for me to be able to make a decision to break away.
Its amazing how many false prophecies have been made throught the course of the last 100 years or so.
I need to do another thread about the various changes in doctrines.

JanH - That was an interesting article. Do you have any references to WTS publications in regards to the dates? I'd like to look some of them up.
Thanks

and dont limit the term "prophet" with someone who only
fortells future events.
In what other sense would someone be considered a prophet?
