Are baptisms under the age of 18 valid? Can one baptised/dedicated prior actually be dfed according to law?
by EndofMysteries inin a business law class i've been learning all about contracts.
i wonder if for all of those who were baptized prior to the age of 18, if the wt/elders could be forced on our insistence that our dedication/baptism as a minor was made without proper mental capacity and that it be declared invalid, henceforth having never been baptized then family, etc, would be free in wt's eyes to treat as any non-jw vs shunning as an ex-jw.

If allowing an unbaptized minor to bleed to death is legally allowed, then this fucking cult can get away with anything else. -

Which bible character do you hate the most?
by Bonsai inthe more i think about it, the more i feel an extreme dislike for the apostle paul.
he was on par with hitler in his treatment of the jews before he "saw the light".
he replaced jesus teachings of love and mercy with a more legalistic, pharisaical concept of devotion to god.. any evil person can come to believe in god and worship him if the scales were literally and miraculously removed from his eyes.

Jehovah.
paul is a close second. He's the tony Morris/david Miscaviege of that day.
however, my favorite & most beloved character is the only one who did NOT tell a lie in the garden of Eden, all-around general badass, satan the devil.

How confident are you about various so called facts?
by slimboyfat inno facts about the world are absolutely certain.
that being the case i wonder how others would rank amd rate their confidence in various factual statements about the world.
i am going to rate my confidence in ten items of "knowledge" as a percentage.

I'm a bit perplexed at how many put something other than 0% for homeopathy. Seriously? -

I Hate the Sound of the Word Jehovah
by cofty inlistening to clips of the latest manipulative video from the watchtower i realised how much i detest that word - jehovah.. sometimes i have thought it would be interesting to observe a meeting or part of a convention.
every time i heard that word i would be unable to stay in my seat.. i have a visceral reaction every time i hear it.
it stands for so much that i have contempt for.

1) Thomas Jefferson: at best, an atheist. At worst, a deist. He was a lawyer, a scientist, a historian, a philosopher, a meteorologist, an architect, a revolutionist and a ruler of a new nation. What a badass (and don't come at me for the whole "slave owner" thing -- I get it. Google the fallacy of presentism before you jump down my throat. I'm highlighting his positive attributes for this thread.)
2) Tied for 2nd, Charles Darwin, Marie Curie & Carl Sagan
3) Tied for 3rd, Hitchens and Dawkins.
4) Tied for 4th, Bill Nye and Neil deGrasse Tyson
5) tied for 5th, Quinten Tarantino, Steven Spielberg, Seth McFarlane, Trey Parker & Matt Stone
6) definitely deserving to be in my top 10... Lady Gaga
7) Ray Franz, you know why!
8) Ronald Reagan
9) tied: Ellen, for her LGBT activism/raising awareness and Dorthea Dix
10) Michael Jackson

Simple, basic manners would be a good start
by stillin inthe witnesses are really challenged socially.
in their own little world, they seem oblivious to the niceties of saying thank you or that they are sorry for some minor wrong.
these things help life go more smoothly in the real world, like a social lubricant.. i'm simply appalled at the fact that an elder's son, who was married more than a year ago, has never sent out thank you notes for all of the gifts that the congregation gave him for his wedding.

And let's not even get started on their tipping behavior.
Ok, on second thought, let's!

Stephen Lett spouting stupidity

lett's peanut brain fires off very odd motor reflexes when he's spouting bullshit.
He does that weird side-to-side dance any time he's about to lie or say something colossally stupid.
It looks like he's approaching a urinal.
It looks like a dog so nervous it's about to piss itself.
It looks like FFWD footage of elephants' swaying during their fire hose bath time at the zoo (google it).

I never once in my adult life donated a single penny. And I was the accounts servant. The last time I did, I was a preteen and it wasn't even my money that I put into the box.
I always wondered how many others never donated at all.
