Does being a JW make you narcissistic
by wyorobert ini am one of the few people on earth who never had a jehovah's witness knock on my door.
my wife was the first witness i ever met.
i did notice certain personality traits after being around some of the people who left the religion.

"Local Needs" Talks: The people who should really hear them are never there.
by Open mind inmy whole life as a jw i've heard this refrain.
"too bad so-and-so wasn't here for that local needs talk.".
as an elder i would have a hard time putting my heart into writing up a local needs talk that was targeting one or two congregation members, knowing full well they probably wouldn't be there to hear it.. .

Open Mind: "Were these money begging talks?"
Absolutely they were! Not only begging for money but also begging for support because most people were angry that this Kingdom Hall was being built.

We were trying to build a new KH for several years, I cannot count how many times I had to endure countless local need parts on the new KH build, they were always given by the same elder our PO, who happen to sell them the property for the KH that he owned and now lives 50yards away with his own personal gate entrance............. I hated those talks

can long distant relationships last?
by varian innow i met this nice woman on the net.

due to my employment, there is no way i could give up my position and just move to her.

sounds like your in love.............. she prolly feels exactly as you do, she might want to move in with you and she may be scared to tell you because she doesn't want to seem to forward. Just talk it over, be honest. If your awake thinkin about her, she prolly awake thinkin of you 2............ thats at least my opinion and how things seemed to go for me and my wife before we got married.

PO's were not listening to the special day program. Why I wonder?
by life is to short inplease do not judge me for going last weekend to the one day that my husband had.. i truly did not mean to even attend but at the last minute i thought if my husband goes in by himself he never sees any of the stupid points they bring out, so i dressed in one of my not so meeting skirts and a top that was very comfortable and thought i would go to starbuks when it got too much for me to handle.
i lasted about 45 minutes.. first we got there late, my fault and my husband went to use the bathroom before we found seats so i sat back and watched.. there the table that they always have in he hallway and one lone po sitting at it by himself manning it.
my husband came out and we found seats.

Yes exaggerate is right! I once had a part on "violent video games" a couple years ago at a District, it was to be about how a part at a previous assembly or convention made me want to give up violent video games. When my PO came to my house to talk about the part with me, he first read the part and asked me if my circumstances filled the part. I told him not really because I never really played video games while a JW. He then told me it didn't have to be right on but try and fit other circumstances or things I was doing into the part. Well as a result I made up some BS story, mostly made up of half-truths, and got a huge applause at the District. People came up to me so happy and thrilled..........if only they really knew :)

What's the most dumbest/petty thing you've heard of someone being "stumbled" over?
by Reality79 in- some loser once took offense that i hugged a sister goodbye at a leaving do and ran back to the elders like a little child telling on me.
i was 15, this sister was in her 40s at the time.. - this elder said someone told him they saw me with a copy of the sun newspaper.
yes, this paper is known for its 'page 3' topless girls but far from pornagraphic and i wasn't even thinking along those lines.. - one brother who had a good job was 'counselled' because he was actually able to buy himself nice things including a new car (shock, horror!!

While me and my wife was dating. My wife (girlfriend then) came to my book study and we sat together, during prayer we held hands. There was another girl (my witness boss's daughter) who really liked me. Well before the prayer the sister that liked me had walked out and left because of our presence, but her older sister was still there. Well after the prayer I guess she saw us holding hands and when we all said "Amen", the older sister asks us loudly in front of everybody in a tiny ass living room if we were engaged. We said no, and she walked out also!.......very uncomfortable for everybody at that time.
It’s so stupid how they act, we were both consenting adults at the time (20 yrs.), it’s not like we were having sex in front of everybody. We were trying to keep it proper, that’s why we went to the book study together, and we didn’t want to hide. But unfortunately the Witless have to shame you in to hiding and secrecy if they don’t agree with you. So we would meet places nobody could find us, and we would make out all freakin day!.........ahhh miss those days.

Do You Blame Your Current Life's Issues Because You Were A JW?
by minimus indo you tend to blame your problems on the fact that you were a jehovah's witness?.
-
manthedan
recently I have been blaming my JW upbringing for some of the problems I have. I feel like I devoted all my time and energy trying to live what I thought was the best way... i skipped out on college thinking if I put JW first he would bless my efforts. Like some I found the love of my life being a JW so I am happy about that. I could have devoted my past time to work and learning and might have been comfortable today. Well if I got one thing going for me right now its my age, am still young (mid twenties), so I have some goog time to try and catch up with everybody else.

Do Active Witnesses Find Meetings Exciting?
by Band on the Run inkh meetings were utter hell.
the boredom, particularly for a child, was awful.
i feel it was a form of child abuse.

I think I enjoyed meeting for the most part simply because I got so used to going. Kind of like a drug, you keep using and using and then you break your habit and it feels weird at first. I hated the Sunday talk and was so happy that they shortedned it to 30 min. Commenting helped keep me occupied or staring at other people. When I had kids I was constanly in the back trying to keep them quiet, so meetings didnt become boring but rather un-practical.

Ever do drugs while in the organization?
by FifthOfNovember ini only ever drank while i was still attending meetings.
but i seriously considered trying lsd or shrooms.
i came really close to trying shrooms once with my friend but we never got around to calling someone to sell us some.
-

Yes I was “lovingly disciplined” several times for weed.
On one occasion I tried Shrooms and it was a very fun experience. I was afraid that trying shrooms might cause some kind of demon problems but a friend explained to me that I was not deserving of demonic trouble because I am not a bad person or trying to hurt people in life so why would demons bother me. Anyway it was a very visual and mental thinking experience that I do recommend trying at least once if that’s your kind of thing. I can honestly say it opened my mind to see all the hypocrisy going on not just in the congregation but everywhere.
only done those two "drugs"
I heard E is like shrooms but not a "visual" experience like shrooms, its "feeling" expericence.
Something I want to do is go to a Kingdom Hall blazzed off Shrooms and laugh my ass off! That be sooo Fun!
