Wow! If I have to (...not that I'd attend) meet with the elders once my husband is served his divorce papers, I'm taking this thought w/me! This is exactly how I feel! I'm not leaving Jehovah, I'm leaving a group of CONTROLLING misfits! I compare it to escaping from FLDS or the Warren Jeffs religion. I don't want to live a debauched life and screw everything walking.
* I just want to live a BETTER, STRESS-FREE life.
* I want the best for my children.
* Everytime I turn around, we can't do this, can't do that, can't look at this, can't look at that. I'M TIRED AND WEARY OF ALL I CAN'T ENJOY
* GET TOGETHER WITH MY NON-BELIEVING FAMILY WHO ARE NORMAL PEOPLE THAT I LOVE, WOULD BE NICE
* attend the wedding or funeral of a dear loved one...in their place of worship
*sleep in on a Saturday morning w/out being bullied to get out of bed when I'm so damned tired from the work week and late homework nights w/the kids
* free to take the kids to the zoo on an early Saturday or Sunday w/out possibly being reprimanded
* attend college w/out being persecuted or being called 'worldly'
* PLAN family vacations and weekend get-a-ways w/out the pressure of being told "NO" by my soon-to-be-ex-husband because EVERY vacation (and too many) takes time away from Jehovah.....

They need to get a grip! NO!!! He doesn't take too many, at all. He has a family. He needs to balance work and family, like any other family unit is supposed to. Hell! My marriage ended due to my husband ALLOWING the JW religion to take all his time. Let alone his hypocrite JW associates and family. The kids and I were somewhere on list about # 17.
Oh....and his 'hottie' at his job that he thinks I know nothing about.....
So, kudos, to President Obama! Keep family happy and EVERYTHING ELSE will fall in proper order.

by fallen_princess ini remember one time when i was about 17 years old, i wanted to arrange a costume party for the young brothers in the congo around my age.
i suggested it to one of my friends and was told that the elders had advised against it because it could be construed as pagan and masks have their roots in demonism.
of course, i was never shown any biblical proof of this but just that response took the wind out of my sails and i decided to just not go through with it.

@ Nugget - Women having to wear a tea cloth on their head when saying a prayer that was pretty ridiculous.
I remember my mom doing that when she conducted our studies when Dad was at work! OMG!!! I thought that was the MOST STUPID thing ever!!! I was only 5 years old when I would look at her and think, "Is she a damned fool!"

This stuff is hilarious and I remember about 99% of it!!!
I told my Mom the JWS is JUST LIKE the Mormons and the FLDS. She had to remember that I am a grown woman. I thought she was gonna find a strap to beat my a$$ with it!!!!! Why don't they see it? It's freakn black and white!!!
I remember being one of the MOST Holly Hobby/Laura Ingalls Wlder wearing, crazed maniac!! Skirts down to my ankles (under my heels, if I could) and buttons up to my chin and loose fitting outfits, as not to show off my bulging breastest !!!! Well, the C.O. and his wife visited. I had on a LOOONG black skirt. The problem....the kick-pleat was from the ankle and stop and the bend of my knee. You all understand? The kick-pleat was in the back, not the front, not the side. PLUS, it was overlapping and you couldn't see my legs anyway!!!! The sisters at my hall had a fit!!! "Why are you wearing that skirt?!!!" I had ALWAYS worn that skirt and it wasNEVERa problem! But, I should've been stoned to death. I cried and was shaken-up for 2 or 3 days.
What made me angry? MY punk-a$$ husband didn't have my back. Nor did he shut these sisters down being he was an elder!!!!

Anyone wanna place a bet on what will happen to me when I have to go to the Kingdom Hall this Saturday??
by Coffee House Girl inwell since there is no "betting" (as it reeks of gambling) in jdub land, lets place a friendly wager on what will happen to me when i go to my father's "memorial" service at the kingdome hall this saturday..... to give you newbies background info: i am neither df'd or da'd- i left 2 years ago with no explanation.
i have been hounded by elders in my cong because they have suspicions that i am living with a man, but they have no proof (well, no proof in jdub land- you know...two witness rule).
after many attempts to get me to meet with them- i finally sent the elders a "cease & desist" letter after one of them spied in my miniblinds to see me eating breakfast with someone (they couldn't identify who).

Hey, CHG. My sympathies!!!! {{{HUG!!!}}} Your dad went in peace, I'm sure, knowing that you were there.
Let's see? I'll bet B and C. They WILL come after you, cunningly. When my dad passed and even at his memorial service they would speak to my family with the sublime message to me, "Well, you know, we've got to make sure we do well to stay in Jehovah's love so that we can welcome him back." Whatever!!!!!
Jehovah knows YOUR HEART! You will be just fine in time. Keep doing what you're doing and keep the JWS at bey. It makes them feel good to know they have finally "squashed" you once you give them the floor to demean you. I don't give them the time of day. That's why they steer clear.

I want to thank all of you for your heart-felt answers. Yes. It does TRULY still bothers me when I reflect back on the answers the JWS used to give us regarding the resurrection. I had ALWAYS felt their answers were inadequate and unloving.
Being God Almighty, I would believe without a single doubt that he CAN and WILL do things beyond what our human brains can fathom. Also, I am impatient. WHEN will he do it???? I know that only because now this pain has personally made an impact on my life that I wish he would put into effect what he promised.
Like all of you...I can't wait for the resurrection to happen. Where ever it may be.

I really want to see my Dad again!!!! I just wonder when this will occur. THOUSANDS of years have gone by. Does Jehovah really care? Then, I have read articles in the past that our loved ones won't be presented to us with the bodies they had before (in perfect health, of course).
Something about how God will not be able to perfectly copy that 'physical' person again. He can perfectly 'copy' the resurrected ones thoughts and what not. But not their 'physical' bodies????? You know? To bring them back as the human we knew and loved. I want my Dad with all his beautiful qualities and deep voice and infectious laugh. I don't want him in a body I don't know! How cruel!
Jehovah is Jehovah, right?! Why wouldn't he be able to make us "as we were", again?????

@ABibleStudent - I have a great wealth of 'worldly friends'. Their honesty is what keeps me going. That's where I get 'cuss them out' from. Believe me, therapy works wonders when ur coming from a STUPID A$$ religion, like this one! Education is a must! Better paying job....then I'd have Jay-Z money. My husband has an AWESOME career that pays very well! Alimony and child support will take care of me and my children EXTREMELY WELL!! I am cautious and EXTREMELY intelligent! When I say he's 'paying', he's doing it now AND will be doing the same in the future....

@fokyc- I believe it more than ever now! Witnesses are trained to lie. Once you want to leave because of 'exposing' the liars, then, there is an ALL OUT attack against you.
