is there anyone from the area who remmbers the story of the 30,000 spent on trees for the vist of a gb memmber.. i dont know the exact story as it is now about 7 or 8 years ago but i heard it from several people that worked on the hall.. apparently a gb memmber was to come to britian to dedicate the hall (i cant remmember which one).. the brothers in charge wanted the hall to look nice for his vist.but the land around was yet to be landscaped.. so brothers enquired as to the viability of planting some trees but were informed that it was the wrong time of year and they would die.. the cost of the trees was around the region of 30,000.plus the amount of free labour from the brothers in planting them.. anyway the big bosses of the scheme decided to ignore the professional advice and planted them anyway.. they all died.. 30.000 pounds of money from old ladies, pioneers and little children as well as ordinary publishers went down the drain for the gb's visit.. nice to know they used our money wisely.
I also went to the Henrietta assembly hall for years. My husband and myself gave many parts on the assembly. I could not believe how silly those floors were. I have three very small children and was always afraid they were going to kill themselves on those floors. But they were beautiful. They brought the marble in from W. Va. if I remember correctly.
I also remember everyone filling their cars up with cheap food or throwing it all away. That was another waste.

My heart is breaking for you and your daughter if you are tying to tell us she was sexually molested by someone close to her or you.
All those stats you quoted are true, but there are also children that do not fit in those catagories. These are the kids that got help in dealing with what happened to them. They got to talk about it and it was not kept the secret that held control over their lives. The Salvation Army that I work for has a children's program for child victims of sexual assualt and domestic violence. Call an agency and find out what is available not only for her but for you as well. It is devastating for the family. If you do not get help Moe it will eat you up alive. I venture to say that you had no idea this happened so you are not responsible for someone elses criminal behavior. You are now responsible to get help for yourself and her if this indeed is what happened.

hi everyone.. my name is caspian, i am an elder in a congregation in england.. i have been reading this forum for about 12 months, never having the confidence to log in.. however after all the information that has come to light in the recent weeks, i feel that i need to start coming to terms with the crisis that i now feel.. i am a third gen jw, and been an elder for 15 years, my family whom i love dearly are all naive fully committed jw's.. please if any current or ex elders in a similar situation care to make any good advice.

My ex-husband is still an elder and still partakes of the emblems. Even though he has been an active alcoholic for many years. I repeatedly went to the brothers for help in this situation. Because we were both pioneers and were being used in helping where the need was great my pleas were to no avail.
I finally left with my three young daughters about 7 yrs ago. He has had no part in fiancially supporting or being involved in his children's lives. As you can see he began partaking when he was only in his late 20's. It has always been accepted of him due to his power in the congregations.
Please watch what you say right now and who you talk to about your questions. You have come to the right place to get answers, although I am going to guess you know more about corruption then we do. Keep coming back!!!!!!!

every book that is published, every magazine written ,highlights the hebrew scriptures as opposed to the greek.do you think it's because most christians stress christ's words and jw's need to be different?
I personally feel that they use the OT more because it is black and white. There really is no grey area. The NT is about love and conscience, something that they are not comfortable with. When you think about all the laws they like the rank and file to follow..it is much easier to use the OT.

You have great strength and courage. I think you have expressed what most of us here feel.
You are accurate when you say they do not know what love is. Love is unconditional..when JW's talk about love they only give it lip service, it really has no meaning to them. Their love consists of judgment, condemnation, and arrogance.
Regardless of what your JW family thinks of you..you are an honorable person that has provided and shown real love to his family. They will be able to emulate you not empty words of the cult. You should be proud!!!!

i am 27 years old and have been married since i was 18 (since there isn't anything else for a good sister to do besides get married or pioneer and i wasn't about to pioneer.

I also found these boards after I walked away 7 years ago. I had doubts for years and expressed this to my elder ex-husband who then went to the brothers. Please be careful who you express your doubts too if you are not ready to be DF'd. There is nothing more intimating for the JW religion then a individual questioning their beliefs, let alone a woman.
Also there is no such thing as confidentiality in the borg. If you write a letter to Brooklyn a copy will be sent to your local elders who will then set up a meeting to discuss what you wrote. Glad to have you here and posting!!!
