i was a witness for 19 years (i left/df'd when i was 19) and was always told that i wasn't allowed to participate in after school sports because it was getting involved in competition which is frowned upon.
so how come it's ok for the williams sisters to play professional tennis, have a career, earn loadsa money and wear totally immodest short skirts which show their knickers shock horror!!

I am going to take a stab at the explanation, and guess that they send substantial amounts of money to the borg. Because they are so high profile I would think that the borg would not want to say anything that the media could make an issue about. They want little children to stand up and be different but when it comes to the almight dollar it is always different for them. JMO

Thanks for posting what you and your poor children are dealing with. I was in the same situation, the only difference was that I wanted the divorce. My ex is still the PO of the local borg here. I went through a custody battle with him. It was not pleasant but my children are completely free from that harmful religion.
My youngest who was 5 at the time did not even listen to me her father had her convinced since I did not love Jehovah anymore that I did not love her. Also since I was going to die than there was no reason that she should have to obey me. Needless to say it was a nightmare. I put up with this and kept bringing the "world" that was denied to them into their lives. I have three daughters. DO NOT LET THIS MAN MAKE YOU FEEL RESPONSIBLE!!!!!!!! They are really good at it. They make you feel like you have to make sure that they are in your children's life.
You need a lawyer fast. The first visit usually is free. I am not sure what state you are in, but laws do vary from state to state. If he wants a divorce make him leave the house. Then you need to go to local Department of Social Services for help. Or if your husband is working you need child support and maintenance for yourself. You local department of social services will go after your husband for child support and maintenance for free. Call around PLEASE find out your rights. He has overwhelmed you so that you feel like he has all the control. I am here to tell you that that is not the case. Call your local Legal Aid for assistance.

i've been here 2 years and posted over a year trying to be supportive of everyone but some things are even too obvious for even me to not see.
((((((((Plum))))))) You can see from all the replys that people care about you. You need to do what you feel is right for you, but please think about returning after your eyes have been open. It will feel totally different than when you were in the borg before. I personally understand not feeling like you fit any place. I also feel that way many times, but to return to what is not true either doesn't feel right. It takes along time to find our place in this "world." We are what we have been taught and raised. All of us have an insight about life that we would not have had without being in this silly religion. It has made you who you are. A sensitive caring person that is why you feel like returning to feel apart of something. Use that sensitive caring part of you to give to others and than you will not feel so alone. Volunteer, be a good neighbor, enjoy the arts the things that have been denied to you before. Whatever you decide everyone will be behind you. I sure hope you return here just so you can see how much everyone is concerned for you!!!!

what kind of an example are we setting for young witness girls regarding modesty?
i personally think she looks nice, although maybe she should try for some darker colors; but because of her jw affiliation, it justs makes one stagger at the double standards.
I saw an interview the other day before the award show where she is wearing that pink dress. Not only is it not attractive but she designed it. Seems that she is going to be selling her evening wear collection to upscale boutiques. GO FIGURE!!!!!!!! All I know is there is no way in heck any other young JW girls would get away with that kind of dress.

i spoke to my father this afternoon and received some bad news.
the daughter of a woman who was one of my childhood friends at the kh died today from leukemia.
she was 16 years old.
