  after lurking for who knows how many months now, i finally did it.

  First welcome we are sure glad that you decided to post.

  I think your observation is correct when you say that many don't necessarily believe all of it. When you have been raised in the the "lie" you are programmed to go to meetings, service etc. You do what you have been taught to do without even really thinking about it. This religion also makes you feel like a failure. If you question anything you are not spiritual enough, you have to pray more, study more, have a better relationship with Jehovah..on and on it goes. It just makes you feel you will never be good enough. You can not live up to those favored ones at the KH. Just think what you felt like the first time you looked at an apostate board. Geee I really thought I had committed the unforgiveable sin. That is what I was taught....so that is what I believed.

  Keep coming back....and congrats on your new baby. I hope your wife comes and reads the board also.

  New to the board

  i am 26 , i was baptised at 12 (way to young to make that choice) df'd at 13, reproved at 16, and then finnally df'd for good at 19. i have been forced to leave behind my family and friends, but other than that have never been happier.

  i just found this board and i am very happy i have, it is great councelling, and look forward to many great discussions.

  Glad to have you here. Sounds like you have had a very exciting life for such a young person. I am sorry that you have had to experience such conditional love by your family. It is hard to believe the JW's really believe it is right to turn their backs on such young children.

  I also haven't seen or heard from my family for over 8 years, but I was much older. You certainly have alot of courage and strength to be able to leave at such a tender age. Good for you it certainly shows that you have lots going for you in life.

  No...I have come to far to go backwards. I am stronger now than I ever was as a "sister." No one would even recognize me. Basically would rather bite the dust then be in the "paradise" wearing flowered dresses and pantyhose.

  young, study-minded and apostate.. anyone else?

  i grew up in the wt, did my utmost to research all, saw the light of course - everyone else of my family still in.. i'm 18.. anyone else of around that age who found out by doing research?

  Let it rip, or hold my tongue? What would you do?

  the basic scoop: my best jw friend from michigan came into org with his wife when he was about 26 (he's about 45 now.

  ) he loved the org, but, aside from being a really cool and interesting guy, he also suffered from depression quite a lot.

  more than 10 years ago he approached me about anti-jw stuff he found online.

  If indeed he is suffering from depression, and already is attending therapy, then I would say he just needs a listening ear. You know in the borg talking about fears, depression, what you really think is looked down on. If you talk to much about anykind of fears, especially death you are viewed as not being spiritual enough. You don't rely on Jeh etc. So I believe the best thing is to be supportive..tell him that you are a safe person to talk to. That whatever he says or tells you stays between the two of you, In other words just be a friend. Really if you think back to being in the cult it was hard to find "real friends." Good luck!!!

  My JW mom just passed away............

  my mom died last wednesday.

  we buried her monday .

  i am a bit numb still , she had been in ill health and i had tried to prepare myself for this day .

  I am sorry for your loss, you are in our thoughts. I have to say I was surprised when you said that the elder allowed you to speak for your family. My goodness that would never happen with my family or this local KH.

  A quick question:

  i disassociated one year ago.

  no meetings, no memorial no nothing since then.

  there was one jw young man that talked to me continuously and who also lived right next door, 25 yrs old, a best friend of my step-son, (we all fished on my boat at least a half dozen times together).

  Personally I would go. It isn't about the people it is about remembering this young person. I know if it was my son and you came even though I would know it would be difficult for you...I would be more impressed with you coming then others, since it is easy for them. JMO

  ok, i've been df'd for 5 months or so now and i'm getting ready to write a letter requesting reinstatment.

  i'm assuming something like "i know jah has already forgiven me so now i"m asking you imperfect sinners to forgive me my sins and give me my life back please".

  I hope you get what you want....all of us have to decide what is best for us. I do understand going back to see your family. I have thought about it many times, since I have not seen any of my family in seven years. For me I went back to the KH a few times, but realized I couldn't lie..I just don't want to be dictated to. I have moved on. Good luck in whatever you think is right for you and your family.

  well its been quite a while since i posted here, maybee 18 months ago.. hallo, to all our old friends and newbies.,.

  yes i was dissasociated some 6 years ago from the org because i no longer believed in the false organization claiming to represent the creator.

  i replied to an elder i wouldnot piss on any jehovahs wittness if the lot of you were on fire.

  I am sorry that your family has experienced such pain. It is unbelieveable how cruel this religion makes people behave. Remember you are good people, they are the ones with the problems. They do not have a clue what love really is. The good thing is that you have removed your children from this controlling cult. They will learn what family really is.
