  great show and an unbelieveable little video.

  i'll respond to them in time but can't at the moment.

  i wanted to just check in and let you know that i'm doing relatively ok. the confrontation with my parents was a bit sticky.

  Well I am glad to read that you are ok.

  Remember your way out is SCHOOL. Go to college, get an education, stay in a dorm. Go speak to your guidance counselor at school...tell him/her that you need to go away to college. What do you need to do? How can you do it? It is a way of getting out, with your dignity. You are wise, play the game until you really don't need to anymore. Freedom comes with education, so that you can financially take care of yourself. Good Luck, know that we are all here for you.

  Help! they're giving me a talk #4 entittled:" IDENTIFYING APOSTATES"

  our elder gave me that assignment last week and should be delivered next week on the theocratic ministry school.

  considering i have very unconventional views for the wts about blood, evolution, bible, and the gb, delivering this talk seemd quite maladroit.

  Wow that is an interesting assignment. I also wonder if they are testing you, or maybe it just happens to be a coincidence. You can do whatever you feel that you are free to do. If indeed you want to educate...look at it as looking up information on apostacy. If you are not comfortable doing this call in sick that day. It really is up to you what you do with it.   One Minute After You Die?

  we have various types of people on this board, some believers in god, others atheists, some agnostics, and others still jw's at heart.. in your opinion, what do you believe happens to a person one minute after they die?

  how about if they are good or bad?.

  Talk about a flashback to the old JW weddings....I bet the brothers or his parents talked to him after. The woman looked like they were living in a polygamist compound. Geee is that what we all looked like with our flowered dresses and skirts that needed to be appropiate lengths defined by the "brothers." Just for the fashion sense I am glad we left.

  Update: Discussion with my wife last night

  for those not familiar, i faded from the organization many years ago and my wife hasn't been to any meetings or service in about 5-6 years either.

  though she insists she's still a jw so we don't celebrate holidays and the children aren't allowed to participate in holiday activities at school.

  i was content for many years to just let her do her own thing, but when the children started going to school i noticed how confusing it was for them.

  At least your wife was willing to compromise...that is a big deal in the JW mindset. Good luck to the both of you...your kids will appreicate not feeling so different than everyone else.

  I had to come to upstate NY for a meeting in Oneonta NY, wouldn't you know they didn't cancel until I was already close to the town, I live 6 hours south in Western NY, now I am stuck here. OMG there is nothing to do in this hotel room. Oh well I guess there is something to be said for working at home oh yeah in a hotel.

  i found this website a few days ago, and ive stayed up until 3 and 4 a.m. every night since reading the all-too-familiar stories.

  i applaud you for sharing your stories and being so open and caring to others who venture onto this site.

  i wish id had you 9 years ago when i was dfd.

  First welcome and we are all glad that you had the courage to write your story. It never ceases to amaze me how low the individuals in the cult will sink against their own family members. I have to agree many times they do this because of how they want other JW folk to view them. Most really live a double life..one in front of the "friends" and one when they are at home. I am surprised that police would even respond to a KH about removing a woman and child that is not making any problems. Glad that you are here, and welcome to the real "truth."

  i've had in the past studied a little about the bible with jws but have yet decided to be baptised.. i've just read lavenders' moving letter to her son and her love and well being for him is very obvious.

  i do like the bible teachings very much and to this day i'm very interested in the end of the system of things which will very soon come to fruition; i'm a very strong believer, however i must stipulate to all, in retrospect i'm not sinless.

  one of the posters says that jw's ask you to do a liitle bible study with them, attend one of their meetings and when you get baptised you have to do exactly what you are instructed or else.

  Sounds like you have a very wise, and loving father..please listen to him and run the other way. Many of us here sure wish someone would have intervened when we began to study with JW's. Good Luck!!

  My cousin died of Lou Garrett Disease

  less then two years ago my cousin, who was then 39, was working on his parents home and found he was having a hard time hammering in nails.

  he would hit the nail, but as hard as he would try, he would end up making it crocked and he could not control it.

  he thought this was weird, and decided to visit a doctor.

  I am so sorry for the loss of your cousin. It sure is difficult to picture a young person losing his vitality so quickly, and at a young age. Life sure can be hard sometimes. You are in my thoughts.
