Your Opinion Wanted-What should really be done to child molesters?
by avidbiblereader ini have not tried to hide my past as a victim of this, but this is always an area that i have to fight my personally feelings as to what should be done to child molesters.
they ruin lives, scar an individual for a lifetime!.
should they be incarcerated for life, castrated, turned over to the family member(s), public humiliation like a branding everywhere they go, tortured and or death penality?.

I personally think life in prison, but with other sex offenders only. They can then perpetrate on each other, not anyone else. Castration does not always by any means work. Think about the dirty old man. He might not be able to get it up any more, but uses his hands etc to molest.
Bonnie, it is very possible that his oldest daughter is in denial about any molestation. It is a great coping mechanism for abuse survivors. They put it someplace else, compartmentalize the abuse. The problem is it ususally comes out in different ways. Whether it is flashbacks, nightmares, OCD behaviors, obesity, aneroxia, bumilic, the list goes on and on.

This board is not for me.
by Wafe inwhen i came to this board, i thought that it was for encouragement amoung people who had been treated badly by the wtbts, i did not understand that people were going to come here and bash god, his son and the bible.
i could understand some embitterment over religion but some of you people are down right insulting.
not to mention the fact that i have tried to contact others on the board and have had my messages ignored.. .

Remember life in the real "world" is about tolerating differences. I also view myself as a Christian, probably more now than when I was a JW. Being a Christian means being Christ like, which means not being overly judmental, but loving in our relationships with others.
I like the mantra of AA "Take what you like and leave the rest." That is what this board is all about. Also, leaving is a process. We all leave at different places in our lives, and deal with it differently. Some our angry, others resigned, and others have moved on. So don't take what others say personally, but take it as peeking into someones else thoughts and opinions. I hope you stay, but if not I hope life brings for you all that you wish.

if, after coming out of it, you still have a pulse, and can go pee, they will send you home.
i am having limited pain today - but feel pretty good.

My daughter has an assembly part....

I have to say that one reason I do alot of instruction today for my job, is the training I had in the "lie." You are right that it is all not bad, but I would let your daughter know that in the real world that would not be allowed. A teacher could lose their job by making fun of someone's religion. JW's are led to believe that everyone hates them, and that is an identifying mark of the true religion. Give her a balanced view, not the narrow minded view of JW's. That is the only way she will be able to begin to question what she is told.

by Rethinking infirst time posting, long time lurking.. came upon this site on accident a few years ago and dismissed it as a site for disgruntled people; however, in the past months i actively searched for it as it stuck in my mind.
believe it or not, i practically read all of the topics.
i felt, wow, i wasn't alone in my thinking and feelings about some things.. it all started years ago in my last year in high school and then into college.

Nice to have you here with us Rethinking. You are lucky to have been raised with balanced JW parents. Critical thinking skills are not encouraged in the organization. You know the old expression "ignorance is bliss." That is the reason why JW's do not encourage higher education. Education leads to knowledge...you don't have control of the flock if they are asking any questions. Keep coming back.

by Mary ini'm not sure if this has been posted yet, but on pages 28-29 of the april 15, 2007 watchtower study on let the congregation be built up, they seem to be trying to justify the notion that a person cannot be 'saved' if they leave the organization, even if they have just cause:.
paragraph 15 reads" in modern times, some have ceased associating with the local congregation, feeling that they will serve god on their own.
they may say that it is because their feelings were hurt, they think a wrong is not being corrected, or they cannot accept some teaching.

That is exactly what I got out of that article MVR was that as long as your group began an Elder and MS arragement it must be sanctioned by Jehovah. Looks good to me..Who wants to be an Elder and MS???? We can begin our own sanctined religion by God. Geee they are really dumb. The sad thing is no rank and file pub is allowed any critical thinking skills to even understand what is being said by the GB.
