  So many newbies lately. What drove you to finally post?

  Barbie....you asked if my girls have made headway in not being controlled by a male dominated religion......Well they are all college educated young woman. Not saying that gender equality is perfect, but let me tell you it is much better in the "world" then in your JW world. I think you misunderstood my point that JW's do not follow the EXAMPLE of Christ, I said nothing of worshiping Christ. You might really read the replys instead of assuming what it says.

  We do understand where you are coming from..all of us were there in the beginning. Not sure if you have left the JW world, but the JW world has not left you.

  Attended Memorial Service, disgusted...

  out of loyalty to a friend that died i went to his memorial service today.

  get this, in 30 minutes of service his name was said 3 times.

  I feel for you...all my family that have passed away lately have been JW's. My grandparents, uncle etc. I was so mad at all of them I could have spit. They never even talked about their lives, just the same old JW BS.

  Nubiana, glad you are with us...vent away it is the beginning of healing. Just remember as long as we are angry to the point it hurts our lives the JW religion still has control of us. JMO

  my story as a witness follows much of a 'dumb and dumber' sort of path.

  i get to be both dumb, and dumber, of course.

  what drove me to post on this site was sheer despiration.

  Welcome Wings!!!!!! we are so glad that you had the courage to tell your story. Putting voice to what you feel is the beginning of healing. As far as your 2 and 3 year old grandchildren, bring things into their lives the JW's do not allow. Music, art, non-JW friends. Make sure the kids are around family that are not JW's.

  Your husband I am sure realize that you feel the way you do, but not talking about it, you can pretend it doesn't exist. It is the pink elephant in the room that no one is acknowledging.

  I hope your son found the help that he needed. Remember leaving is a process...it took along time to be brainwashed..it takes time to wash your brain free from its influence. Keep coming back.

  Ok here is my problem.........

  i just read some of the thread about keeping our kids away from jws and their teachings.......this is my situation and any helpful advice would be appreciated.......... i have a 14 year old son.

  his father and i have not been together since 1999, when i was disfellowshipped.

  we now share custody.

  It is just so hard to believe that any parent would allow their kid at 13 to be traptized. Knowing the consequences that can come with dunking. It just makes no sense to me, other then the fact JW parents like to use their kids to look spiritual. Makes me want to hurl. Glad you are out.

  a bethel insider in the know told me that all of the child abuse lawsuits where the watchtower bible and tract society was one of the defendants were settled back in the beginning of this year.

  i questioned it and called napa myself and they were absolutely settled back then.
