Hi Ros,
I was glad to see someone start this thread. It's something I've
wondered about too.
a significant number of former jehovah's witnesses come out of the watchtower still believing the bible and considering themselves christians.
most coming out are in a serious state of bewilderment, and they look intently and sincerely for something to fill the huge void of lost religion, lost family and friends, and lost fellowship.
they seek some viable spiritual association with others of like mind while at the same time having become very wary of any organized religion.. what is it that eventually draws so many of us (not me) to agnosticism or atheism?
Hi Ros,

wondered about too.
my daughter's friend is excited about their upcoming convention.. she's been told there are many changes coming from jehovah (thru.
the fds.).
anybody know what these "changes" might be?
Zazu....I think she's going to use the loyalty "oath" to make my daughter feel guilty about me, but she can't do too much because her own brothers are df'd and my daughter will have that as a come back. They still have association with the two df'd ones and their children so they can't say too much about my daughter's relationship with me....I disassociated in March and am relieved not to have to sit through another meeting, assembly, or convention of the wt sort.
Libby,
(thinking if I'm going to sit for that long let it be in front of my computer!!)

Good Morning, just checking in to see the news.
Thanks for the replies.
Thirdson...thanks, that's what's always been new, isn't it. Treated like mushrooms, kept in the dark and fed garbage.
Farkel...thanks for the historical viewpoint. Has to be some kind of arm bending to get them to look forward to three days of sitting and yawning. My notes always went off the page in the afternoon and were never looked at again.
Osarif....thanks for the link. I haven't read it yet but I will.
Truman....Thank you!! I looked through all the pages for those threads and couldn't find them, so I decided to ask outright.
Not that I want to burst anyone's enthusiasm bubble, and my daughter pretty much figured it would be same-old same-old, I just wanted to confirm it for her.
Thanks again, Libby

justa surfin!
That face looked so different in the movie.
i apologize in advance if this has already been discussed here.. at my daughter's pioneer meeting they were told that leaving literature in phone booths and laundromats is "littering".. since when?
anybody else heard this?.
libby
Hi Venice,
From what I heard, the pioneers were definitely disgruntled about it.
Laundromats are their mainstay here, and rest stops.
Thirdson,
If this isn't happening in other pioneer meetings, then maybe it is isolated to the congregations here. It could be that the pioneers here are overdoing the phone booths and laundromats. But, hey, I was one of those who picked up a wt in a phone booth.
this is clever.. everyone thinks the society are becoming more open as far as education is concerned.. we have had a few articles in recent years which even go as far as encouraging youngsters to get trained, got to college and acquire useful job skills for the future.
then these are the magazines that the public also read and then think that the jw's maybe arent so weird after all.. but then go to this years dc's and we get the following;.

Francoise (safaria boy)
Jerry Falwell said that pants suits are the work of the devil and that women were given big hips for child bearing.
There's an elder in New Mexico who lectures the sisters about wearing knee-highs; evidently they have to wear panty hose. Why else did we wear long skirts except to hide the knee-highs!!
-------------------
Anglise---good points:
--"these are the magazines that the public also read and then think that the JW's maybe arent so weird after all."--
---"It seems the only ones with any real education and /or training are those who came into the org as adults."--
And Coperincus---
---"It’s always amazed me that for an organization that frowns on higher education, they are ready in a heartbeat to take advantage of anyone who already had it before coming in. "---
Our PO came around asking us if any were professional people, with degrees, and such----I was in only 6 years but I knew about the ban on higher education. So the faithful followers were now left out and the borg was looking for those with higher education among the newer recruits.
Libby
my hubby had a question for me that i couldn't even come close to an answer for.
ps.
i used to be a witness.
Good grief!! Don't give the borg any ideas!!
As I see it, since Adam underwent surgery to produce Eve, caesarian section is "natural childbirth."

) or the other study in the scriptures volumes on line.
Thanks Hawkaw!
I have The Finished Mystery and the Millions book (also Prophecy) but I wanted The Object & Manner booklet too, and there it was on the first screen.
