Clearly the public is not going to understand the difference between someone who "simply leaves the faith" and someone who has disassociated themselves. How does one simply leave the wts if not by disassociation?

But let's take them at their word. Disassociation is simply leaving the faith. Those who simply leave the faith are not shunned. [This is actually a revisiting of their former position.]

In my letter I made it clear that I was ceasing to be a member of the wts but not ceasing my relationship with Jehovah and Christ Jesus, nor was I ceasing my relationship with my friends and relatives who were still members of the wts.

i'm hoping someone can help me.. i'm trying to find quotes from the watchtower publications talking about how the catholics are following men instead of jesus, and how they almost worship the pope, basically any quotes like that where the society condemns the catholics for the same thing the dubs do with the governing body.. thanks :-)

Umbilical? as in receiving nourishment? not from the wts.

I kinda look on it as the VFW, veterans of foreign wars. They still meet and keep in touch but they sure wouldn't want to be back in the war. They show family and friends war scars and medals, and share war stories over and over again.

It's an experience we all went through, like high school maybe, only worse, [if that's possible] but we keep in touch and go to reunions. It's a part of our lives but it's not our life.

ps when what's-his-name died at a convention [in Hawaii?] I learned about it first on the internet and called my brother [elder & PO] about it -- his smug reply was that he already knew and made me feel like there was something wrong with my knowing about it or telling about it -- why hadn't he told me? I thought we were 'one big happy family' -- he hadn't even told his own wife. What was the big secret???
