  Smurfs????????

  every now and then i come across comical references to smurfs in posts on this site, i have been in the org all my life and never heard of any demonisation of father abraham's little blue imaginary friends, even when they they hit the uk top ten singles chart.

  can someone enlighten me of what was said, where and when?

  maybe i missed it because i was more concerned about kiss using an ouija board in plane or axel rose being anagram of oral sex!!!

  all i have ever head my whole life at meetings is that apostates are full of lies.. about 1 year ago i started checking into the lie.

  all i can find is quote's from watchtowers and other books.. .

  my question is "what is the lie that apostates are telling?".

  Um, I don't think the Portestant Reformation folks cared one iota to be called "Apostate" and "liars" by the RCC, ... and look we all got a copy of the Bible to read for ourselves out of it all.

  +1 for those wild n crazy apostate liars.

  Not too shabby but what will it sound like when people actually try to sing with it? Will it be the concert version or the boring voidness of the piano version?

  Ah well, I never looked at going to the Hall as "worship", more like an interpretive history class.

  "Indentured Servitude" is the name of the game. Its really slavery which pays an amount which never is enough to pay off debt which in turn brings more debt requiring continued servitude. You see that in places where the price of commodities continue to rise, jobs are scarce, but the base salary stays the same (flatlines). [ie Third World countries.]

  Plus basic "usury"; which we are supposed to have laws against in the 21st Century.

  Its all the rage.

  ....and yes, pharmas are definitely trying hard to sell people on pills here in the US. Commercials run all day and night here ... the side effect lists are scarey to boot. A large number of children are pill poppers ranging from anti depressants to ritalin.

  Do Jehovah's Witnesses even know their own teachings...

  i've had a rash of people commenting on my videos lately that seem to not even understand their own teachings.

  it leads me to question if jehovah's witnesses can even explain their own beliefs.

  for example if i ask a question about the 1914 doctrine specifically about the biblical backing behind 607 bce being the year for the destruction of jerusalem, 9 times out of 10 i'm going to get some sort of answer that involves the "prophecy" in matthew 24 and how it somehow has been fufilled since 1914.. apart from the fact i honestly don't think i can find a jehovah's witness who will actually understand the question at hand enough to answer the points therein, i'm to the point where i don't know if jehovah's witnesses even understand their own teachings.

  No need for 607 or 1914, 1919, 18whaever .... its all lies. Unless, one is dumb enough to believe that Jesus is ruling "invisibly" which runs absolutely contradictory to his own words about his return in the Bible ... and it became okay to practice "divination" (astrology). [JC doesn't take his place until AFTER the big A, according to the Bible.]

  "19 goobly gook" is an absolute LIE which is why no one can reasonably explain it. Its the cry, "See, Christ is here!", that everyone was warned about.

  If Christ were ruling "invisibly" he's doing a really shitty job. I recall his reign was supposed to usher in peace and happiness. Where's it at?

  All that numerical astrology mumbo jumbo was simply to say that Jesus picked the WT leaders in 1919. That's their sole claim to fame.

  They needed to make up all the other stuff to match their principle claim to fame.

  Weird "end of world" convention advert left in my door yesterday.

  it is a single 8.5 x 11 color page that opens with this drivel: how can you survive the end of the world?

  --- you are warmly invited to come and listen to the answer.... there is a typical watchtower picture of zombie-like survivors coming out of a dark armageddon storm cloud with lightning and thunder, and walking into a spring field of sunshine and flowers.. on the back is quoted mark 13:37 - "keep on the watch".

  (said near 2000 years ago, but continuing on) - four bulletins: stay awake as christian families / know that the end is near / imitate jesus' example of watchfulness / keep in expectation, watching for jehovah's day.. at the bottom is a generic invitation to mail in what is a little coupon for a bible study to the local branch office (no local contact information is given) with entries for such places as trinidad/tobago, ghana, nigeria, curacao, etc.

  Luke says:
  21: 36 But keep watch at all times with prayer, that you may be strong enough to come through all these things and take your place before the Son of man.

  Think I'll stay with Jesus' words. [JW fearmongering is contradictory.]

  JW's on Facebook seem like happy people

  i just recently got a facebook page and started to look up some old jw friends (im a long time fader).

  i see there pictures and comments and feel kinda jealous that they all look happy (im in a rough stage in my life).

  i never was happy as a jw, and since i faded i am more comfortable in my own skin....the future looks bright for me.

  Well, if you are jealous of "other" people you are also worried about what "others" think of you. Get the "others" out of your life and focus on yourself for a bit. Find who you truly are, make any improvements YOU find necessary (if any) and be happy with yourself, the true you.

  FB is simply another place where people can post and communicate. If folks seem happy, good for them.

  Would there have been a funeral for Jesus?

  Jesus and all his family (plus the original Apostles) were Jews and they would have followed the (traditional) Jewish practices for burial.

  Actually men were prepared for burial after death by men, which is the case of Jesus. Joseph of Arimathaea and Nicodemus prepared his body and buried him in a new tomb. (John 20) By the time the ladies showed up with their spices, there was no need because he had already been properly buried according to custom.

  There is no 'funeral' as they are done today. Your body was prepared, wrapped up, and placed inside a tomb. Someone would guard the body as it was being prepared and recite Psalms. Family members would tear their clothes and remain at home in mourning. That's it. (No such thing as a viewing, procession, etc.)

  What's done today is some sort of pagan Nordic (Gentile) traditional practice.
