Humans with God like qualities .... ugh! Blasphemy!
If man, Biblically speaking, is a little lower than the angels ... then why not start off with Angelic like qualities?
Why not Christ like?
At least pretend to work your way up.
so today was the one day assembly or whatever it's called now.
fun times.😳.

how long will it take for a jw to see that even the overlapping generation is wrong?.
the org waited and waited to see if their interpretation of it came true.
those alive in 1914 would still be alive obviously it didn't and jws have to believe in an overlapping generation.
Prologos, lol.
Yes, there is no "this generation" for modern application, as of yet. It is all predicated on events which have not occurred ,Biblically speaking.
I don't think Russell was correct on any of his "predictions" ... no one after him has been either.
At times it seemed to me that some of the doctrinal silliness was part of a causal conversation that someone overheard and spread around as doctrine. Next thing you know, you're trying to spin your way out of what you know to be complete nonsense, using more nonsense.

Well, I'm of the unpopular opinion that 'the Gentile Times' have in no way 'ended'. Kinda obvious to me, so any and all "generation" talk is moot. No need for "new math".
Plus this whole thing: Luke 21:27-Then they will see the Son of Man arriving in a cloud with power and great glory.
Whatever "generation" is supposed to actually see that happen. I don't know anyone who has.
Of course, I'm also of the unpopular opinion that Christ isn't 'invisibly reigning' either. That's kinda obvious too.

It's not possible to imitate God.
I don't care what Paul needed to say to ancient Romans about their dress. I've seen the paintings ... had nothing to do with tight clothing.
Also, collections were taken to FEED and clothe the needy under siege, not so some could sit comfortably on their bums or to make books.
when i was an all-in, younger, somewhat uber-dub - i envisioned the governing body as spending 16 to 18 hours a day at the bethel library, with their noses in the bible and associated research books.
sky-j was propelling his holy spirit directly at them, maybe opening the book to the right page or paragraph, and zap, new light.. when i learned that these dudes only met on wednesday mornings, for as little as 10 minutes, and spent the rest of their time managing and traveling, it was quite a letdown.. anyone have such thoughts of our guardians of doctrine?.
I use to be amazed at the level of GB 'worship' in my younger years. People equated the GB with Jehovah himself.
I had a one on one with Henschel (late 80's), chatted a good bit. He didn't seem any different than anyone else or any more scripturally knowledgeable.
so for the first time ever i went to a church service at my local church (coe) and i have to say it was awful!
it was just like a ritual.
the vicar would say something and then the congregation would all say a phrase in unison back to him.

the book costs 140.00, but i bought it.
i agree with dr. de vienne's review.
Biased people can't read unbiased information without complaining and focusing on minor errors. We should all know that from JWism.
With each book of research, we glean more and more information. Looks an interesting read.
o.k.
here's just a little fun, you guys can run with it.. if god existed would he allow the whacktower to be in business?
just sayin... lol.
I'm going with prólogos on this one. Interesting and thoughtful replies.
Maybe further along in time, humans will know. Romans didn't know what an atom bomb was and we don't know yet just how big the universe is and what's out there. We don't even know what's at the bottom of Earth's deepest ocean.
One thing is certain. Humans will keep searching the universe for answers.
i responded to someone on another thread, but would love to know this answer.. if a victim adult or child goes to elders and claims they were abused, don't they have to have clergy confidentiality?
so i was told that they encourage the victim to contact authorities , and they contact bethel, but arent there hands tied if the victim does not want to go to authorities?
an elder made the comment to me once.
No. They would become culpable of not reporting a possible crime.
JWs don't have a "clergy". And it's one of their BIG claims too. Every JW is considered a "Minister". No clergy, no laity is their claim.
If a crime occurs, you call the police not elders or priests and such.
"the creative day" how long was each day?
defend.
maybe this was posted before but i found this site.. search the above site.
At some point they'll figure out that "one day to God is like 1000 years to man" is simply an easy way to explain an infinite time span.
Consider to whom it was being said. People back then could reference Methusalah's lifespan being nothing when it comes to God time.
It isn't a literal fixed time frame. It's an analogy.
So called Christian "leadership" get on my nerves with dumb reasoning when they could simply ask Jews what THEIR early writings mean.
Also, it isn't a JW thing, it's a fundamentalist Christian belief; JWS are like the fundies from wence they came. Adventist groups are crazy like that.
