The two paths of exJWs
by Simon init's easy to think of exjws as being a single amorphous group but the more i think about it, the more i believe that there are two distinct sub-groups and wonder if you agree.. there are those who believe and those who don't.
i know that seems obvious but let's break it down a bit more.
there are those who don't and never believed and some who are looking for a religion to match their beliefs.. i used to think this split would be between born-ins and converts but of course it's possible for born-ins to be believers although i suspect that many, like with other faiths, do so simply because they have never experienced anything else or made a conscious choice.

I see your point but I don't think most fit in a particular mold. -

epica- ice cores
by joey jojo inepica- european project for ice coring in antarctica.. kind of old news but fascinating.
over the last 10 years or so, this organisation has analysed ice core samples taken from antarctica.
drilling more than 3000 metres into the permafrost, they produced the longest, continuous record of earths climate extending back almost 800 000 years.

You need polar ice. It keeps the earth's temperature within life sustainability.
Lol @ttdtt, that would depend on the temperature of the flood water

All or Nothing: The Slippery Slope of Watchtower Morality
by Londo111 inthere is a common saying that “the crime should fit the punishment”.
a minor violation should receive a minor correction; a major violation receives a major punishment.
take the example of a kid who accidently spills soda on the carpet.

Hmmmm....
One problem when it comes to JWs is they have been led to believe salvation (surviving the big A) comes through works; while the Bible says it comes through faith .... and you can do nothing to earn' salvation. It's a gift.
Ephesians 2:8-9 NET
For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God; [9] it is not from works, so that no one can boast.
"Do more, do more, do more, or else you won't make it". Well, it doesn't work like that. Stop burdening and mentally torturing people with your unscriptual duties rules and insanity.

Can you pioneer more?
No. Unlike the GB, I pay my own way in life.
Also too, the preaching responsibility was given to the faithful slave, not me. So, those fellas better get out there and beat the pavement themselves.

questions
by Schilderijtje inwe are two students from holland, who would like some information about jehovah witnesses.
especially about the invisible return of jesus.
on which bible scripts do you ground this?

Actually the real answer to that goes back to Charles Taze Russell in a pamphlet he published in 1877: Object and Manner of Our Lord’s Return. Page 62 onward if you have the patience.
It can be found with a basic Google search.

Actually the original date was 1874. When nothing happened, recalculate to 1878 nope nothing again, then 1914 oops nope!
These dates were for the rapture, not for any enthronement.
Pretty much you had Christians calling Christ a liar when he said no one knows the date .... 'cause Russell, Barbour, Rutherford, etc all said they did.
Now what to do? Restate and say Christ was invisibly enthroned in 1914; which of course is also unscriptual.
They couldn't stop there at making stuff up. Rutherford goes on to shut the gates of heaven himself in what was it 1935?
It was like crack for them, dates, dates, and more dates. Lies, lies, and more lies. Now it's a monster that they can't take back.
The disgusting thing is that people back then still respected the Bible and those guys made one hell of a snare and racket out of it. But not just them, others also.
Anyhow, it all actually started in 1912 with the Balkan Wars. The Bosnians (using Serb supplied weapons) simply waited until an Austro-Hungarian Royal came into the Balkan to pop him; which happened in 1914.

Mexican new GB member
by sp74bb inmore light for our ex jw members.... http://www.extj.com/showthread.php?27719-the-show-of-apple-jam-by-president-s-brother-the-accounting-chaste.
in patterson there is a group of brothers, all of them baptized after 1975, a group of them are candidates to all new gb membership, as soon as new places will be included or some members will passed away.
clear details and info tell us that a new gb will be a us citizen with mexican background.. really funny to see that we can give light to our ex jw family months before it comes public :).

Not sure how a Mexican-Am would make South Americans see the WTBTS in a better light. Mexico isn't in South America, doesn't have much in common, and guy is from the US anyway. Wouldn't do anything for me.
May do something for the SW USA. Who knows.

Oh, and Hispanic is not Latino.
Hispanics are Europeans. Ie. Spain, Portugal, etc. (Former Hispania named so by the Romans)
Latinos are peoples of the Americas who speak Spanish (also Portuguese & French) as a consequence of colonialism and conquest. Named such by Napoleon.

Are the anointed really "lovely people"?
by purrpurr ini've personally never met any of those who claim to be anointed but the other jw's who have are always unanimous in their praise of how lovely and what wonderful people they are.
and i don't mean the gb i mean common or garden anointed.
i was told that when they speak about being in heaven that they almost "seem to glow".. is this right?

I knew an elderly sister. She was nice enough but she cursed like a sailor. Didn't attend many meetings either. It was attested to her age.
Close relative. 60 something. In the early stages of alzheimers. Quite judgmental and somewhat negative.
It was mentioned that they did not see themselves on a paradise earth but we're observing it otherworldly (from heaven?). That's how they knew they were annointed.

Here's a view on homosexuality for you...
by konceptual99 in...right from a pro-jw site in response to a post about the relative seriousness of homosexuality.
all you can do is reason from the scriptures, which you appear to have done.
homosexuality is as serious as bestiality, or adultery and fornication.
-
Lieu
She should have used her foot.
As for homosexuality it's never given as a higher sin. In fact lying(giving false witness), not respecting your parents, adultery, etc are all given the same weight.
