The Christian GOD / Old Testament GOD , one and the same right? A GOD of Love ?
by smiddy inand god is the same today as he was yesterday and will be the same tomorrow.. in other words he is unchangeable.. what a bloodthirsty god he was in the old testament., at his command killing old men young men women and children by the sword , a two edged sword i might add in some cases.cutting both ways.. put yourself in that situation for a minute , either as a victim or the executioner.
can you imagine piercing some other human with a two edged sword ?
especially if they were a child ?

What most of us want and what goes on are 2 different things. It may be peaceful and prosperous where you are but the rest of the planet ... not so much. Everyone doesn't have a history of continuous warring around the globe for hundreds of years to compare a level of peacefulness with.
It's definitely a quiet time for peoples with a history of warring everywhere and all the time. It's not the history of the majority.
Crofty, if I could, I'd like the Americas before any colonists. Simple, clean, mostly quiet. No disdain for women, very minimal disease, natural food, thousands of herd animals wandering about, clean environment, no need for money, no bills, no lawyers, build a dwelling wherever. Peoples word meant something.

The sun kills because humans have weakened the ozone layer. Also, some humans don't have the melanin to be hanging out in the bright sunshine all day.
Some things are introduced by humans destroying natural environments. We're destructive like locusts. Some things were introduced because humans were filthy in habits. Medieval Europe, take a bath and wash your hands or get the plague.
Mining for minerals destroys habitat and clean water sources. Humans. Do you think before the Greeks that the Sahara was a dessert? Or do you realize the water was dammed up so that one of the largest salt deposits known to man could be mined? Salt was once more precious than gold. Similar to what happened to the Nile basin.
Humans made things uninhabitable.

Tell that to the people in war torn and developing Countries, Crofty. They may not share those sentiments.
Maybe you're thinking from a US perspective?

There seems to be many jw's marrying outside of org recently.
by atomant inl was wondering if others have noticed this or is just my imagination?my sister whom has always been a fine example of a dub just got married to an outsider was a shock to everyone as no one knew she was dating an outsider.she seems happy.the elders are to shit scared of her to approach her about the matter.

What do you expect if you take a slew of eligible marriage aged men to Bethels? That's like China's one child policy.
If everyone around is of the same sex, who are they supposed to marry?
Contrary to popular belief, most young sisters don't want left over old men for husbands. They want someone young and fun to grow old with.
Now if you get a bunch of recent releasees in your Hall, you're looking at 25-30 yr olds who may have never paid a gas and electric bill in their lives, have no real world home skills, etc.

Newspaper article: Why JWs Don't Celebrate Easter
by Sugar Shane insaw this article in the google news.
it seems like the comments section is being overrun by jw apologists.
would be nice if some of us leveled the playing field.

2JWs don't celebrate.
They would make horrid Hebrews of old. All the Israelite festivals would be bastions of depression, focused on death.
Passover would be a wailing for slaughtered baby sheep instead of joy for said lambs blood saving people from death. Oh, and no one would celebrate the day because someone came along a thousand years later and named it Easter.
The Day of Atonement would mean a call from Bethel to PETA to stop one goat from dying for a nations sins. And one other goat from wandering over a cliff in the Grand Canyon. JWs don't like goats.
Festival of Booths, nope ...campout fun.
The Celebration of Pentacost ... well, NO celebrations! You get no fun. Besides, that's a thanks for the Mosaic Law fun time.
Abraham, Israelites, Jesus, the Apostles; they celebrated. They'd throw a huge feast (a party) just because a child was weaned. A culture which loves to dance, sing, joke, and celebrate. David was basically naked dancing and singing in the streets. Lol Its not the Lord's Evening Meal, its the friggin Passover Celebration.
These things would get you labeled unspiritual in the JW world.
Now to actually celebrate Christ's death, feeling joy at what his sacrifice did for everyone, talking about the kewl things he did and said? Being thankful that Jesus CHOSE to die for mankind, when he could have chosen otherwise? He had a choice, just as Satan and the others gone rogue had a choice. Unheard of, preposterous! He gets a mention at the end of a prayer, that's it.
JWS don't celebrate. They're Jonah and followers of Paul.

We modern humans certainly aren't any better.
All ancient cultures sacrificed and warred. Nothing new from a historical point of view ....
We still war and kill people, just over natural resources and fanatical religious beliefs now. Last Century, millions of people were killed to stop tyranny ... mass bombing of Germany and Japan. Dead old, women, children, etc by allied military personnel .... good or bad thing?

This week's resurrection video, will it backfire on the wt?
by prologos inthe resurrection is supposed to be a joyous occasion?, if it ever happened!
--well, this week's showing at the hall was the opposite, it was about death with violins playing in the background.
a recently bereaved member, , full of tears, (like many others) could not contain herself.

Hmmmm, if resurrected people can no longer die, JW thought on the 1000 yr reign end are incorrect. If the majority of peeps are the resurrected (since JWs say only a small number would live through the big A), then they've already been judged worthy of never dying again.
Just a side thought.

Not much of a celebration going on there but then JWs are so emotionally defective they have no idea how to celebrate or react to real joy. The biggest yearly "celebration" is pretty much a solemn funeral service, after all, that the majority don't get to "celebrate". Kinda like orphaned Oliver Twist being around peering in the window while a select few eat a feast which he gets none of; cruel.
Also, resurrected are neither male nor female, so you will not get a "daughter" or "son" back in that respect. Jesus said so.
Luke 20:33-36 NET
In the resurrection, therefore, whose wife will the woman be? For all seven had married her." [34] So Jesus said to them, "The people of this age marry and are given in marriage. [35] But those who are regarded as worthy to share in that age and in the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage. [36] In fact, they can no longer die, because they are equal to angels and are sons of God, since they are sons of the resurrection.
