Faith, where now?
by Theburstbubble inso for the first time ever i went to a church service at my local church (coe) and i have to say it was awful!
it was just like a ritual.
the vicar would say something and then the congregation would all say a phrase in unison back to him.

Faith is internal, a personal belief inside of you ... it isn't a "where", imo. Ya just gotta check around a bit if you are looking to be a part of a community with shared beliefs. Or you could do as Russell Rutherford, etc and have open Bible discussion with a small group of people. -

Biased people can't read unbiased information without complaining and focusing on minor errors. We should all know that from JWism.
With each book of research, we glean more and more information. Looks an interesting read.

I'm going with prólogos on this one. Interesting and thoughtful replies.
Maybe further along in time, humans will know. Romans didn't know what an atom bomb was and we don't know yet just how big the universe is and what's out there. We don't even know what's at the bottom of Earth's deepest ocean.
One thing is certain. Humans will keep searching the universe for answers.

When a crime is commited?
by Drifting Away ini responded to someone on another thread, but would love to know this answer.. if a victim adult or child goes to elders and claims they were abused, don't they have to have clergy confidentiality?
so i was told that they encourage the victim to contact authorities , and they contact bethel, but arent there hands tied if the victim does not want to go to authorities?
an elder made the comment to me once.

No. They would become culpable of not reporting a possible crime.
JWs don't have a "clergy". And it's one of their BIG claims too. Every JW is considered a "Minister". No clergy, no laity is their claim.
If a crime occurs, you call the police not elders or priests and such.

At some point they'll figure out that "one day to God is like 1000 years to man" is simply an easy way to explain an infinite time span.
Consider to whom it was being said. People back then could reference Methusalah's lifespan being nothing when it comes to God time.
It isn't a literal fixed time frame. It's an analogy.
So called Christian "leadership" get on my nerves with dumb reasoning when they could simply ask Jews what THEIR early writings mean.
Also, it isn't a JW thing, it's a fundamentalist Christian belief; JWS are like the fundies from wence they came. Adventist groups are crazy like that.

So pretty much, "don't believe the truth" if it isn't positive.
On a Data Dog note, those faithful men of old sure did drink a lot ... after a major killin' of course.

Prince will Be Resurrected
by Wild_Thing ini'm sure prince has already been talked about to death on this site, but a jw family member just liked a video posted by a jw group on facebook that is an interview of prince about his conversion to jw.
it's the comments made by jws that this post is about.. prince was a great artist!
and the world has lost a musical genius in my opinion, but he lost me after he converted.

Lol!!!! He didn't care to meet them in this life .... great musician like MJ and Selena, however, none have much in common with run of the mill JWs. The musicians actually contributed to the world; made people everywhere on earth smile or sing. -

by xjwsrock ini looked around my hall and saw so many miserable unbelieving mates and relatives it was actually funny.
they were in a glazed-over stupor.

It's sad. They basically call Jesus (and therefore God) a liar when they say they know "the time". Their continual guessing is disgusting for those claiming to be followers of Christ. Trying to steal something for themselves. Just like the two thieves Adam and Eve, they claim that you'll know God stuff if you "eat this fruit" which they will provide. Satanic. I HATE them for that.
I once told my mother, a professed anointed, they (the GB) need to stop trying to STEAL from God. It's not for anyone to know. Can't he have one dayum tree and one dayum day to himself?????

Do JWs think Jesus was a liar or just a fool?

1.Who????
2. Well he doesn't know when the big A is coming but the GB have claimed at times they do.
3. Allegedly 100 yrs into the 1000 yr reign and no seasons of refreshing yet.
4. Maybe the GB think he's eating and drinking anew with the Apostles while life still sucks for a lot of humanity in the Kingdom.
5. Too many parables about forgiving wayward people out having sexytime. Doesn't jive with their teachings.
6. Too much about really doing charitable works. Paying out of pocket for injured strangers and feeding people listening to long talks. Giving up your clothes to someone in need. Rubbish! A magazine will suffice.
7. There's talk of doom and gloom, but not enough. All that love and forgiveness keeps getting in the way. He simply doesn't throw enough rocks.
8. That whole humility thing of washing feet, not lording over each other, or that insane women getting the straight 'dope' first while men get parables first thing. .. Preposterous!
9. Unburdensome yokes, light loads? No way ... need more rules and for every little thing.
10. Jesus was too nice. Forgiving Peter for denying being a friend. Pffft!
They remind me of the evil servants that kill the Kings son thinking they'll get his inheritance. Too much talk of following Christ and you're bound to notice that whole beating his sheep thing.
Paul they follow. A mass murdering "convert" that stays single and reproaches people for transgressions far far less than his own. Doom and gloom. Kinda like a former smoker ... highly annoying.
