Did you participate in a Drama?
by Hecce ini am bringing this up because even it was a lot of work, for the majority of the friends this was a rewarding experience.
camaraderie, joking, costumes, props and when the time came the celebrity status of being in the drama.. back in the 50s and 60s, conventions could be as long as 8 days and from about 1966 the dramas became an integral part of the program.
we had one per day and the brothers looked forward to their presentation.

Had a different part but always wanted to do a dress Bible drama. Those were the only things at conventions that kept young people from falling to their deaths from windows. -

My self control is failing
by kairos ini see jw posts on fb all the time.they say crazy things based on ignorance.. for example:.
regarding the prince article in people magazine, they are saying "we aren't a church".. i want so badly to come in and mention that gb member jackson referred to the jw org as a church over and over under sworn testimony at the arc.the jws do not lock down their security settings and allow commenting on their 'public posts'.
they need a taste of ttatt.

Of course it's a "Church". Church, Congregation, etc all mean the same thing. Translated from the original Greek it means a group of people, not a building.
CHURCH (Gk. ekklēsia) #1577: The Greek term simply means “an assembly.” It was used in secular Greek to speak of any gathering of people to a political or festive assembly, and used by the NT writers to mean a local assembly of believers, or the whole body of believers. Within the local church in each city there were probably several “assemblies” or “meetings” of believers, held in various homes.
This is what happens when we don't pay attention in English class; we miss out on that whole synonyms thing. Using a synonym does not change what something is.

Sins aren't and can't be forgiven by men, unless you sin against someone personally ... and then you go to that person individually and ask for forgiveness; not elders. (They claim not to be like Catholic priests, so no need to "confess" to them.)
Sin literally means "to offend". According to the Bible, the only offense not forgiven is one against the Holy Spirit.
If you still believe, ask God for forgiveness. Then you stop your cheating and come clean with I'm guessing your wife. She has a right to go about her business if you're realization on attraction has become manifest.
It's going to hurt but you have to be YOU and you have to be truthful with your mate. S/he deserves that much.

What is the Modern Christian's Role, According to the Bible
by jacobm inif any other christians can answer this:.
what is the role of the believer in this day of the church (the body of christ, not the building)?.
is preaching a main goal?.

1. Love God with all your heart.
2. Treat your neighbors as you want to be treated.
That's pretty much it. Just about everyone on Earth knows the Good News about Christ, believers and non, so constant "preaching" is redundant.
3. Help those you see in need if you can.
Luke 6:27-36 NET
"But I say to you who are listening: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, [28] bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. [29] To the person who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other as well, and from the person who takes away your coat, do not withhold your tunic either.
[30] Give to everyone who asks you, and do not ask for your possessions back from the person who takes them away. [31] Treat others in the same way that you would want them to treat you. [32] "If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. [33] And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do the same. [34] And if you lend to those from whom you hope to be repaid, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, so that they may be repaid in full.
[35] But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to ungrateful and evil people. [36] Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.
Luke 6:37-38 NET
"Do not judge, and you will not be judged; do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven. [38] Give, and it will be given to you: A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be poured into your lap. For the measure you use will be the measure you receive."

I would think Jesus knew of his previous human existence growing up. When he was 12 and his parents, after searching, found him back at the Temple; he definitely knew something then. I would think his parents would mention something so significant.
The baptism was when he received the holy spirit and with it the power to perform miracles and forgive sin. The clouds parting and such was simply confirmation from God for the onlookers. There were people constantly waiting there to see who John (the baptizer) kept talking about.
He already knew who he was. When fully, who knows.

Menstruating ancient ladies were probably quite happy about that rule. 7 days each month of no duties! Making meals was laborious back then, tending house and children. 7 day break. No chocolate on that side of the world yet.
That whole rape law. Seriously, if you knew you'd have to automatically marry the person you raped, would you rape? Not to forget if you rape someone else, you've just committed adultery and that penalty is death by big rocks.
It's best not to rape.
Also, too, I don't think the Bible is anti female, I think misogynistic power crazed men use the Bible to be anti female. Jesus was always talking to the ladies.

Who "looks forward" to conventions?????
Aside from the old full dress Bible dramas, conventions are pure leg numbing boredom.
Jewish festivals are actually festivals and loads of fun. Activities for all. No comparison.
As for obeying Mosaic Law. Pfffft! Seriously. Who has the cattle for all that?

Humans with God like qualities .... ugh! Blasphemy!
If man, Biblically speaking, is a little lower than the angels ... then why not start off with Angelic like qualities?
Why not Christ like?
At least pretend to work your way up.

Generation expiry date?
by pleaseresearch inhow long will it take for a jw to see that even the overlapping generation is wrong?.
the org waited and waited to see if their interpretation of it came true.
those alive in 1914 would still be alive obviously it didn't and jws have to believe in an overlapping generation.

Prologos, lol.
Yes, there is no "this generation" for modern application, as of yet. It is all predicated on events which have not occurred ,Biblically speaking.
I don't think Russell was correct on any of his "predictions" ... no one after him has been either.
At times it seemed to me that some of the doctrinal silliness was part of a causal conversation that someone overheard and spread around as doctrine. Next thing you know, you're trying to spin your way out of what you know to be complete nonsense, using more nonsense.
