How does one say *no*, politely, and still retain a relationship with a person?
CC, a TRUE friend would still remain so even when you say no.
i had my birthday party/new year's day party tonight.
i have hundreds of friends, or so i thought.
how many show up?

rather than hijacking lostreality's "question" topic, and frannie's post---i began to think of movies that were particularly moving to me...... there have been many throughout the years, but right off the top of my head i'd have to say "imitation of life" (lana turner), "love is a many splendored thing" (william holden), "the way we were" (barbra streisand) and "evergreen" (barbra streisand) that really made me lose it in the theater.. what movies struck *you* the hardest?.
annie....who should have invested in the kleenex corp)
Terms of endearment, when the daughter dies in the hospital of cancer. Steel Magnolias, first when Julia Roberts character dies and then when her mother (played by Sally Field) breaks down at her funeral. There are many more but those are the first two that come to mind.
the horrific scenes from se asia we have seen on tv over the past week will have an effect one way or another on many jws.
yes, the hardliners will see this as a part of the prelude to armageddon; "famine and earthquakes in various places".
(mat 24) this sort mentally dismisses the unequalled loss of human life, reasoning that most of these would have died at armageddon anyway.
Ok sorry, I guess I misunderstood. Again, sorry.

When I still thought as a jw. My feelings were that maybe they now had a chance of being resurrected, not that they were going to die anyway. Was I going against JW thinking feeling this way?
Maybe they taught differently in different areas, but I was always told that if a person died before Armageddon, that they had a chance at being resurrected.
ok so maybe i'm being played but believe it or not, i just got a letter from the president, that's right, the president of the united states of america!!!
he was thanking many of his constituents for supporting him in his campaign.
and get this, unlike the the problems that are resulting from donald rumsfeld's not taking the time to sign the letters, notifying their loved ones of the soldiers deaths, this appears to be written out in his own personal handwriting.
Phrophecor: Just so you know hun, my letter is the same handwriting but says does not have the same wording at all.Since this is the case. I'm glad he took time out of his schedule to write the letters. Even though he was not my choice, I too would feel proud to recieve a hand written letter also.
Thunder, just to make it clear on my part, I was not trying to make anyone feel bad at all. I just thought that since so many didn't believe it to be original, that the best way to get rid of any negitive replies was to compare the two letters. That's all.

i don't know where the tradition came from, but down here in the south, it's traditional to eat cabbage, black-eyed peas, ham....and since cornbread seems to go so well with it...heh....wonder what it means....i know the cabbage is for luck with money in the new year, but not sure about the rest.. anyone else make any new year's resolutions?.
frannie
I&P, I like blackeye-peas cooked with bacon, a little salt and pepper and when served put chopped onions on them. mmmm mmmm good.

oooh ooh, I know I know! The cabbage represents dollar bills and the black-eye peas is for change. I don't know where it originated but it is popular among the black community. I had never heard of it until a good friend of my mothers made it for us for one New Years dinner. Good eatin with cornbread.

just announced on sky news.com, but what a disgrace for sky news to mention an email sent by some american joe bloggs who stated that he didnt think the usa should support the crisis since indonesia is anti american... after all the help the usa give they have to refer to one measly stupid email!
grr.
Isn't it wonderful to see so many of "Satan's Organization" giving so much to help those in need? How about if we all print copies of the final totals donated from each country and post them to the doors of our local Kingdom Halls with a note written at the bottom saying......"See how worldly people love their neighbors. JW's only love (help) other JW's."

Sheila got one. Frankly I'm suspicious.
One way to find out. Have Shelia and Prophecor each scan the letters and post them. Then we can compare the writting of each.
i thought i'd pose a question especially (but not exclusively) for the girls regarding sexual harassment.
what would you deem as unfitting behaviour?.
is it appropriate for a guy to ask if you are wearing any panties?
Sure apologies are nice, occasionally, but to be honest I find them acutely embarrassing. It may be a Brit thing.
Nah, it isn't a "Brit" thing. I get embarrassed to. I've usually forgiven someone before they even ask so it actually makes me feel guilty for the other person when they apologise. Don't ask me why, because I have no clue.
